Imaging Fractures by using VSP Data on Geothermal Site (지열지대 VSP 자료를 이용한 파쇄대 영상화 연구)

  • Attention has been focused on geothermal energy as an alternative energy because it is continuously operable without external supply. Most of geothermal anomalies in Korea are related to deep circulation of groundwater through a fracture system in granite area. Therefore it is very important to understand the distribution of the fracture system which is the main channel of ground water. In this research, we constructed the velocity models with a fracture system and the layered sediments, respectively, and generated synthetic data sets with them to verify the presented vertical seismic profiling (VSP) preprocessing scheme. We compared the results from conventional VSP preprocessing flow to those from VSP preprocessing flow considering fracture system. We noticed that the preprocessing flow considering fracture system retains more sufficient signal including down-going wave than conventional preprocessing. In addition, we applied 3D VSP prestack phase screen migration to the preprocessed reversed VSP (RVSP) data from Seokmo Island so that we were able to image fracture structure of the geothermal site in Seokmo Island.

  • The background estimation algorithms had a significant impact on the performance of image processing and recognition. In this paper, background estimation algorithms were analysis of complexity and performance as preprocessing of image recognition. It was evaluated the performance of Gaussian Running Average, Mixture of Gaussian, and KDE algorithm. The simulation results show that KDE algorithm outperforms compared to the other algorithms.

  • In this paper. we propose a shaded recognition method using symmetric feature. When the existing PCA is applied to shaded face images, the recognition rate is decreased. To improve the recognition rate, we use facial symmetry. If the difference of light and shade is greater than a threshold value, we make a mirror image by replacing the dark side with the bright side symmetrically Then the mirror image is compared with a query image. We compare the performance of the proposed algorithm with the existing algorithms such as PCA, PCA without three eigenfaces and histogram equalization methods. The recognition rate of our method shows $98.889\%$ with the excellent result.

Preprocessing Algorithm of Cell Image Based on Inter-Channel Correlation for Automated Cell Segmentation (자동 세포 분할을 위한 채널 간 상관성 기반 세포 영상의 전처리 알고리즘)

  • The automated segmentation technique of cell region in Bio Images helps biologists understand complex functions of cells. It is mightly important in that it can process the analysis of cells automatically which has been done manually before. The conventional methods for segmentation of cell and nuclei from multi-channel images consist of two steps. In the first step nuclei are extracted from DNA channel, and used as initial contour for the second step. In the second step cytoplasm are segmented from Actin channel by using Active Contour model based on intensity. However, conventional studies have some limitation that they let the cell segmentation performance fall by not considering inhomogeneous intensity problem in cell images. Therefore, the paper consider correlation between DNA and Actin channel, and then proposes the preprocessing algorithm by which the brightness of cell inside in Actin channel can be compensated homogeneously by using DNA channel information. Experiment result show that the proposed preprocessing method improves the cell segmentation performance compared to the conventional method.

  • Automated Vision Inspection (AVI) systems automatically detect any defect feature in a surface image. The performance of the system can be measured under a special circumstances such as ultimate defect detection. In this situation, the defect signal level is similar to noise level and it becomes hard to make a solid decision with AVI systems. In this paper, we propose an effective preprocessing technique to enhance SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio). The method is motivated by some principles of HVS (Human Visual System) and RLC (Run Length Coding) techniques is used for this purpose. The proposed preprocessing technique enhances SNR under ultimate defect conditions and improves overall performance of AVI system.

  • Techniques related to 360 VR service have been developed to improve the quality of the stitched image and video, where illumination compensation scheme is one of the important tools. Among the conventional illumination compensation algorithms, Gain-based compensation and Block Gain-based compensation algorithms have shown the outstanding performances in the process of making panorama picture. However, those are ineffective in the 360 VR service, because the disparity between illuminations of the multiple pictures in 360 VR is much more than that in making the panorama picture. In addition, the number of the pictures to be stitched in 360 VR system is more than that in the conventional panorama image system. Thus, we propose a preprocessing tool to enhance the illumination compensation algorithm so that the method reduces the degradation in the stitched picture of 360 VR systems. The proposed algorithm consists of 'color compensation' and 'illumination compensation'. The simulation results show that the proposed technique improve the conventional techniques without additional complexity.

  • 게이트 심근 SPECT 영상은 좌심실 구혈률(EF), 확장기말 부피(end-diastolic volume), 수축기말(end-systolic volume)부피 등의 지표로 심근의 기능을 평가하는데 널리 이용된다. 이러한 지표들을 구하기 위해서는 심근 안팎의 경계선을 추출해야 한다. 본 연구는 좌심실의 SPECT short-axis 영상에서 전처리 과정을 거친 영상을 Hough Transform을 이용하여 초기점 설정한 후 심실 내외벽의 경계선을 추출하기 위해 Williams 가 제안한 Active Contour Model(snakes)을 이용하여 심근의 경계선을 자동으로 추출하였다.

  • 자동차 번호판 인식 시스템은 영상획득, 번호판추출, 전처리(이진화), 문자영역 분할, 문자인식 등의 5가지 핵심 부분으로 구성된다. 따라서 자동차 번호판 인식 시스템의 최종 인식율은 각 단계의 성능에 따라 직접적인 영향을 받는다. 본 논문은 영상처리 기법을 이용하여 영상에서 번호판 영역을 추출을 위한 연구로 문자인식 단계에서 높은 인식율을 확보할 수 있도록 빠른 연산속도와 추출 정확성을 높일 수 있는 알고리즘을 제안한다.

  • 본 논문은 CCD카메라 얼굴 영상에서 얼굴의 특징을 추출하여 사이버 캐럭터 그래픽에 적용시키는 것을 목적으로 하고 있다. CCD카메라로는 촬영된 얼굴 영상에 기초적 영상 전처리를 실시한 후 불변모멘트의 일종인 센트럴모멘트를 사용하여 눈, 코, 입을 추출하였다. 제안된 방법으로 20명의 얼굴 사진을 대상으로 하여 추출 실험을 한 결과, 일반적인 실내 사무실 조명환경 하에서는 정확히 추출되는 것을 확인할 수 있었다.
