Development of Hardware Simulator for PMSG Wind Power System (영구자석동기발전기 풍력시스템의 하드웨어 시뮬레이터 개발)

  • This paper describes development of hardware simulator for the PMSG wind power system, which was designed considering wind characteristic, blade characteristic and blade inertia compensation. The simulator generates torque and speed signals for a specific wind turbine with respect to given wind speed. This torque and speed signals are scaled down to fit the input of 2kW PMSG. The PMSG-side converter operates to track the maximum power point, and the grid-side inverter controls the active and reactive power supplied to the grid. The operational feasibility was verified by computer simulations with PSCAD/EMTDC, and the implementation feasibility was confirmed through experimental works with a hardware set-up.

  • This paper describes development of a hardware simulator for the PMSG wind power system. The simulator consists of a realistic wind turbine model using anemometer, vector drive, induction motor. The turbine model generates torque and speed signals for a specific wind turbine with real wind speed. The torque and speed signals are scaled down to fit for the input power of 3kW PMSG. The hardware simulator was developed through computer simulations, and the operation was confirmed by experimental works.

The simulator consists of a realistic wind turbine model using anemometer, vector drive, induction motor.   • This paper proposes a design of the three-parallel converter system and grid-connection technique for a PMSG based wind turbine systems. The back-to-back converter of the PMSG based wind turbine system is directly connected to the grid so that both the power devices and the filters are needed to have large power ratings. The three-parallel converter configuration can reduce the required power ratings of the devices and filters. However, the three-parallel converter can cause circulating currents. These circulating currents can be suppressed by sellecting proper inner inductance at each leg. An LCL filter design is used to meet the THD regulations. The latent resonance caused by the LCL filter is compensated by an active damping method without additional loss. The decline of the power quality caused by the unbalanced and distorted grid voltages is also compensated with an additional compensation algorithm. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed system and compensation methods are effective for the wind turbine systems.

  • This paper has represented about the wind power industry of the west-south seashore with leading industry development for Honam Economic Region. These projects have composed of wind power industry of the west-south seashore, offshore wind turbine(2MW, 3MW) and onshore wind turbine(3kW, 5kW, 10kW), 11 projects, during 3 years- with honam leading industry development for economic region. The contents of these project are 3 favorable products and 3 business support projects. The favorable products are the MW offshore wind system with Outer-rotor type PMSG, the 3MWoffshore wind system with adaptation type of west-south sea, the hybrid generator system with wind turbine technology basis.

  • 본 논문에서는 계통 전압 사고 상황에서 계통 연계형 풍력 발전 시스템이 만족시켜야 할 LVRT(Low Voltage Ride Through) 동작 모의 및 동특성을 분석하였다. 제작한 시뮬레이터는 유도전동기를 이용한 풍력터빈 모델과 영구자석 동기 발전기 그리고 컨버터와 인버터로 구성된 Back to Back Converter를 통해 계통과 연계되는 구조를 가지고 있다. 계통과 연계되는 부분에 슬라이닥스와 변압기 그리고 IGBT를 이용해 계통의 사고를 모의할 수 있는 계통 전압사고 모의 장치를 제작하여 연결하였으며, 이 계통 전압사고 모의 장치는 A, B, C 각 상을 독립적으로 제작해 다양한 계통사고를 모의할 수 있도록 구성하였다. 하드웨어 시뮬레이터와 제안된 계통 전압 사고 모의 장치 분석을 위해 PSCAD/EMTDC 소프트웨어를 이용한 시뮬레이션을 실시하였고 하드웨어 실험을 통해 그 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • The rotational loss is one of the most important problems for the practical use of the high power Flywheel Energy Storage System (FESS). This rotational loss is divided as the mechanical loss by windage and bearing and iron loss by hysteresis loop and eddy current in the part of the magnetic field. So, In this paper, a double-sided PMSM/G without the iron loss is designed by analytical method of the magnetic field and estimation of the back-EMF constant represented as the design parameter. This design model consists of the double-sided PM rotor with Halbach magnetized any and coreless 3-phase winding stator. The results show that the double-sided PMSM/G without iron loss can be applicable to the high power FESS.

  • Electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) is used to overcome power quality problem caused by output power oscillation of wind turbines. A novel EDLC application for permanent magnet synchronous generator type wind power generation system is proposed in this paper. The structure of the proposed system is cost-effective and efficient. The proposed system including an EDLC is modeled and analyzed by PSCAD/EMTDC. The simulation results show the effectiveness and major features of the proposed system.

  • Recently, issues regarding environment and the diversification of dependence in oil are watched with keen interest. Wind power attracts most interest because of its high-energy efficiency with eco friendly functions. In this paper, deal with design of radial field permanent magnet synchronous generator for a urban wind power system. Analyzed the RFPM generator by electromagnetic, and designed wind power generator with this. The output characteristic of machine and all of process is analyzed by 2D FEA due to geometrical structures of RFPM machine.

  • This paper presents the double side PM synchronous motor/generator for core loss reduction in flywheel energy storage system. The use of double PM rotor causes the elimination of core loss in no-load state of machine. Because flywheel rotational speed is reduced by core loss, double PM rotor is very effective in flywheel system. This paper suggests two types of double side PM rotor, Halbach magnetized array and parallel magnetized array. And characteristic comparison according to thickness of rotor back core is performed.
