Currently, lots of researches have been performed for reducing cement usages due to increasing social/engineering problems caused by $CO_2$ emission. Supplementary cement materials like fly ash, slag, and silca fume are usually employed for cement replacement, and nowadays rice husk ash (RHA) is widely studied for enhancement of concrete performance as mineral admixture. In this paper, concrete samples with RHA and SF which is known for its engineering advantages are prepared and a resistance to chloride attack is evaluated in early-aged concrete. For the work, replacement ratios of 10~30% for RHA concrete and 2~8% for SF concrete are considered, and various durability tests such as density, void, sorptivity, current measurement, and chloride diffusion coefficient are performed including mechanical test like compressive and tensile strength. Replacement of RHA 10~15% shows better improvement of corrosion resistance and strength than that of SF 2~4% and normal concrete, which shows a strong applicability for utilization as construction materials.

This study evaluated the durability of nuclear power plant concrete. The main parameters were the water-to-binder ratio and admixture type. The results revealed that high-volume ground granulated blast-furnace slag(GGBS) concrete had lower initial strength, while the strength reached higher after 28 days. On the other hand, the initial strength of fly ash blended concrete was high, but the long-term strength of the robbery was low. The measured durability of GGBS blended concrete was found to be better than that of the existing concrete mix for use in the construction of nuclear power plants. Especially, the GGBS blended concrete was more durable than the fly ash blended concrete in terms of chloride attack, carbonation resistivity and freezing-thawing durability in low compressive strength. The effects of concrete compressive strength according to gamma rays were minor.

Recently, high strength, flowability, and durability of concrete were required according to increase of large scale and high rise structure. However, cracks occurred easily on the high performance concrete. In this reason, using expansion agent for reducing shrinkage cracks were increased, but it did not consider on durability of high performance concrete. Accordingly, this study1 investigated the resistance of shrinkage and damage form salt by mixing CSA expansion agent on the blast-furnace slag cement and mixed cement for the low heat of hydration by three components. The cases that 8% of expansion agent was mixed and the proportion was OPC were expanded till 43.7 times compared with control concrete. For the resistance to the damage of salt, it was improved when mixing ratio was incresed and the maximum size of coarse aggregate growed bigger. In this study, the resistance to the damage of salt of the cases that 8% of expansion agent was mixed was improved about 16% compared with control concrete.

MgO powder-mixed concrete, expanded at the lower temperature around $850{\sim}1000$ degree celcius, might have long-term expansibility, which could remunerate for the contraction of concrete with delayed expansion, and through the process, the crack resistance of mass concrete might be improved. Currently used expandable concrete additive has three different types : CSA, CaO and MgO. In this study, therefore, such tests as carbonation, chloride diffusivity, freezing-thawing resistance and sulfate resistance after 56 days' curing were implemented and compared the results with the concrete with no MgO mixed to evaluate the durability of 5% MgO-mixed concrete after longer period of time. The degree of hydration for the MgO-mixed cement paste was analyzed after 1 day, 3 days, 7 days, 28 days, and 56 days using SEM, XRD, DSC.

This paper investigate that the effect of the concrete containing mineral admixtures(pozzolanic materials such as fly-ash, ground granulated blast-furnace slag, silica fume and meta kaolin) on the resistance properties to chloride ion invasion. The purposed testing procedure was applied to the concrete added mineral admixtures for $3\sim4$ replacement ratios under W/B ratios ranged from 0.40 to 0.55. Specimens were immersed in $3.6\%$ NaCl solution for 330 days, and penetration depth, water soluble chloride contents and acid soluble chloride contents were measured in 28, 91, 182 and 330 days. Then, diffusion coefficient were calculated using total chloride contents. As a results. the kinds of mineral admixture and replacement ratios had a great effect on the resistance property of the concrete to chloride ion invasion compared with the plain concrete. And the optimal replacement ratios of mineral admixture had a limitation for each admixtures. The amount of acid soluble chloride ions and water soluble chloride ions were varied with the kinds of mineral admixtures and the penetration depth from the concrete skin. Chloride diffusion coefficient of each concretes decreased with the time elapsed. and the diffusion coefficients of the concrete immersed salt water for 330 days had a establishment with the compressive strength measured before immersing.

Concrete containing lightly burnt MgO has long term expansibility. It also could compensate for the thermal shrinkage of mass concrete, because the hydration of MgO proceeds at a slow pace to long-term age. Thus, lightly burnt MgO has been applied to the construction of mass concrete such as dams. Recently, the expansion characteristics of MgO concrete with fly ash that could be applied to mass concrete for the reduction of hydration heat have been studied and however, limited studies on its durability. This study investigates the long-term durability characteristics of fly ash concrete with lightly burnt MgO. The durability tests on carbonation, freezing-thawing, diffusion of chloride, and resistance to sulfate attack were carried out for MgO concrete with curing for 360 days in submerged condition with different temperature of 20 and $50^{\circ}C$. The results reveal that MgO concrete shows a greater resistance of carbonation, diffusion of chloride, and resistance to sulfate attack. On the other hand the resistance of freezing-thawing was little influenced by MgO powder.
Hot-press forming(HPF) steel can be applied successfully to auto parts because of its superior mechanical properties. However, its resistances to aqueous corrosion and the subsequent hydrogen embrittlement(HE) decrease significantly when the steel is exposed to corrosive environments. Considering that the resistances are greatly dependent on the properties of coating materials formed on the steel surface, the characteristics of the corrosion and hydrogen diffusion behaviors regarding the types of coating material should be clearly understood. Electrochemical polarization and impedance measurements reveal a higher corrosion potential and polarization resistance and a lower corrosion current of the Al-coating compared with Zn-coating. Furthermore, it was expected that the diffusion kinetics of the hydrogen atoms would be much slower in the Al-coating, and this would be due mainly to the much lower diffusion coefficient of hydrogen in the Al-coating with a face-centered cubic structure. The superior surface inhibiting effect of the Al-coating, however, is degraded by the formation of local cracks in the coated layer under severe stress conditions, and therefore further study will be necessary to gain a clearer understanding of the effect of cracks formed on the coated layer on the subsequent corrosion and hydrogen diffusion behaviors.

Recently, studies on alkali activated slag(AAS) binders that do not use cement have been actively conducted. It is known that AAS concrete is highly resistant to chloride damage based on the test method used for ordinary concrete. However, it is fully not understood whether the test method used for concrete can be applied to AAS mixtures. Therefore, in this study, we verified the consistency of NT Build 492 and ASTM C 1202 test methods by applying various experimental variables. According to the experimental results, the two tests yielded opposite results. Therefore, the chloride durability of AAS mortar can be different depending on the evaluation method.

Leakage due to deterioration and damage is one of the major causes of volume change by freezing and thawing, and it leads micro-cracking and surface scaling in concrete structures. The deterioration of damaged concrete accelerates with the chloride attack. Thus, in the detailed guidelines for facility performance evaluation (2020), the quality of cover concrete and the freeze-thaw (FT) repetition cycle were newly suggested for concrete durability assessment. The quality of cover concrete should be evaluated by the rebound hammer test and the FT repetition cycle should be also considered in the deterioration environmental assessment. This study suggested the application of fast dynamic based nonlinear ultrasound method to monitor initial micro-scale damage under freezing and thawing environment. Concrete specimens were fabricated with different water-cement ratios (40%, 60%) and air contents (1.5% and 3.0%). The compressive strength, rebound number, relative dynamic modulus, and nonlinear ultrasound were measured with different FT cycles. The scanning electron microscopy was also performed to investigate the micro-scale FT damage. As a result, both the rebound number and the relative dynamic modulus had difficulty to detect early damage but the proposed method showed a potential to detect initial micro-scale damage and predict the FT resistance performance of concrete.

GGBFS(Ground Granulated Blast Furnace Slag) has been widely used in concrete for its excellent resistance chloride and chemical attack, however cracks due to hydration heat and dry shrinkage are reported. In many International Standards, GGBFS with low fineness of 3,000 grade is classified for wide commercialization and crack control. In this paper, the mechanical and durability performance of concrete were investigated through two mix proportions; One (BS) has 50% of w/b(water to binder) ratio and 60% replacement ratio with low-fineness GGBFS, and the other (TS) has 50% of w/b and 60% replacement ratio with 4000 grade and FA (Fly Ash). The strength difference between TS and BS concrete was not great from 3 day to 91 day of age, and BS showed excellent performance for chloride diffusion and carbonation resistance. Two mixtures also indicate a high durability index (more than 90.0) for freezing-thawing since they contain sufficient air content. Through improvement of strength in low fineness GGBFS concrete at early age, mass concrete with low hydration heat and high durability can be manufactured.
