Cracking in connote structures is one of the main issues of structural design next to ensuring the load-bearing capacity. Thermal analysis is used to prevent thermal mucking, but concrete properties are uncertain variable, and analysis results have uncertainty, too. In this study, sensitivity analysis is performed to investigate the effect of conductivity, specific heal and pouring temperature. The results show that lower conductivity and higher specific heat increase the maximum temperature and maximum tensile stress. The structure with internal restraint is mostly influenced by the change of conductivity and specific heat.

Because of accumulation of operation time, the performance of main components(compressor, combustor, turbine, etc.) come to be deteriorated in gas-turbine engine. So, high reliability and minimun of expense are important problem for engine manufacturer and user in operation of gas-turbine engine. In this study, the diagnostic code of the engine performance using the thermodynamic sensitivity between the sensed parameters and the health parameters has been developed without an application of the commercial program. The single performance deterioration of the turbo-shaft engine has been estimated with this code.

In this study, we evaluated the thermal denaturation characteristics of reusable NIPAM tissue mimicking (TM) Phantom by measuring the thermal sensitivity. And the changes of acoustic characteristic and thermal denaturation shape in NIPAM TM phantom according to the number of re-use time and re-use period were observed. With the result, as the sonication time is increased, the sound velocity of NIPAM phantom was decreased by 100 m/s and the attenuation was increased slightly. However, the changes according to the re-use period was not observed. In the thermal denaturation shape and size observation by ultrasound sonicaton, the remarkable changes have not been confirmed. With the result of this study, NIPAM Phantom was considered appropriate to evaluate and predict the effect of therapeutic ultrasound by in repeated sonication test.
In this study, to propose the analysis method of heat and smoke behavior of fire using the CFD-based fire simulator FDS, comparison of the simulation results against the experimental results and the sensitivity of the results to the grid sizes have been investigated. For the wood fire, thermal images captured from the experiments were compared against the FDS simulations, and the maximum temperatures agreed in~4.3 % error, showing the applicability of FDS in the interpretation of the fire phenomena. In the aspect of the sensitivity to the grid size for the subway fire, FDS results of smoke temperature, CO concentration and visibility converged and showed no distinct changes for the grid size < $28(L){\times}28(W){\times}14(H)$, guaranteeing that the FDS fire model set in this research could interpret the fire phenomena successfully.
Estimating the evapotranspiration is very important factor for effective water resources management, and FAO Penman-Monteith (FAO P-M) model has been applied for reference evapotranspiration estimation by many researchers. However, because various input data are required for the application of FAO P-M model, understanding the effect of each input data on FAO P-M model is necessary. Therefore, in this study, for 56 study stations located in South Korea, the effects of 8 meteorological factors (maximum and minimum temperature, wind speed, relative humidity, solar radiation, vapor pressure deficit, net radiation, ground heat flux), energy and aerodynamic terms of FAO P-M model, and elevation on FAO P-M reference evapotranspiration (RET) estimation were analyzed. The relative sensitivity analysis was performed to determine how 10% increment of each specific independent variable affects a reference evapotranspiration under given set of condition that other independent variables are unchanged. Furthermore, to select the 5 representative stations and perform the monthly relative sensitivity analysis for those stations, 56 study stations were classified into 5 clusters using cluster analysis. The study results showed that net radiation was turned out to be the most sensitive factor in 8 meteorological factors for 56 study stations. The next most sensitive factor was relative humidity, solar radiation, maximum temperature, vapor pressure deficit and wind speed, followed by minimum temperature in order. Ground heat flux was the least sensitive factor. In case of ground surface condition, elevation showed very low positive relative sensitivity. Relativity sensitivities of energy and aerodynamic terms of FAO P-M model were 0.707 for energy term and 0.293 for aerodynamic term respectively, indicating that energy term was more contributable than aerodynamic term for reference evapotranspiration. The monthly relative sensitivities of meteorological factors showed the seasonal effects, and also the relative sensitivity of elevation showed different pattern each other among study stations. Therefore, for the application of FAO P-M model, the seasonal and regional sensitivity differences of each input variable should be considered.

The establishment of a green remodeling strategy is focused on technology, so the necessity of establishing a customized strategy considering the field situation has emerged. This paper examined the technology strategy through sensitivity analysis as a methodology for guiding strategy. For a 90-square-meter detached house, nine models of the construction standards of pre-1980s, 1984, and 2010 in Seoul, Daejeon, and Busan were assessed using the optimization method that combines the energy plus engine and the ModeFrontier. Sensitivity analysis was performed, and the remodeling strategy priority was derived. For pre-1980 models, the strategy for enhancing the roof insulation performance had a significant priority. The SHGC values of the windows were found to have the next highest priority regardless of the region and the time of completion, showing that the performance standard, including the SHGC, needs to be expanded. The possibility of remodeling while maintaining the existing geometry was confirmed because the adjustment of the window wall ratio accompanying large-scale demolition works has low priority. The priorities of technology strategies in each case showed very different patterns, suggesting the possibility of establishing a remodeling strategy by a comprehensive evaluation along with economics and constructability analysis.

Thermal control of satellite propellant tank is achieved by patch heaters enabled by thermostat's behavior. It is important to attach the thermostat on the appropriate position of the propellant tank. However its position cannot be given with exact numerics because tank is spherical. In practice, the thermostat position is designated approximately in a relevant drawing approximately, thereby an engineer practices depending on his own experience and intuition. The sensitivity analysis for the position of thermostat is performed such that the influence on the thermal behavior and control of tank is examined quantatively. When assembling tank module, the reasonable performance on the thermal control is believed with possible human errors if the uncertainty in the position of thermostat is not quite large.

The effect of heat loss rate on NOx formation of $CH_4/air$premixed flame were examined numerically in a perfectly stirred reactor. The following conclusions were drawn. Under the adiabatic wall condition, an increase in the residence time causes a remarkable increases in NOx emission. Under the heat loss conditions, however, NOx decreases significantly as the heat transfer coefficient and residence time increase. As the heat loss rate increases, Thermal NO mechanism and Re-burning NO mechanism play an important role in the NOx reduction, but Prompt NO mechanism and $N_2O$-intermediate NO mechanism lead to the increase in NOx production. Although the NOx formation is actually related to complex NOx mechanism with the changes in the heat transfer coefficient and residence time, it was found that NOx concentration can be represented by independent Thermal NO mechanism. From these results, new NOx correlation combined with the heat loss rate and residence time was suggested for predicting the NOx concentration in a practical $CH_4/air$premixed combustor.
In this study, simple functional forms which could predict decay heat are referred to and modified in order to analyse more easily long-term behavior of decay heat generated from domestic PWR and CANDU spent fuel. To reduce the difference between the predicted data by functional forms and ORIGEN 2 results and to predict the decay heat under the important parameter(s), sensitivity analysis is performed. By introducing the identified hey parameter, turnup, into the functional forms, the decay heat of spent fuels within a limited rangs of cooling time(3~500 years) becomes predictable for various turnup rates. The predicted decay heat of spent fuels with representative turnup rates such as 33, 37 and 40 GWD/MTU by the functional forms is in so good agreement with ORIGEN 2 results within $\pm$10% difference over the cooling time from 1 to 10$^{5}$ years that the functional forms presented here may be used for engineering purposes such as the thermal design and assessment of the facilities associated with spent fuel management.
