The start of satellite thermal design was to predict the worst operating environment through analysis of the thermal environment of the operation orbit. Because the satellites have different types of operating trajectories for their mission, the exposed thermal environment also varies. Thus, it is necessary to analyze in consideration of the orbital conditions, and a design was performed to guarantee thermal stability for the worst case defined through the analysis. The orbital thermal environmental analysis required an understanding of the basic orbit mechanics and the heat exchange relationship between the space environment and satellite. The purpose of this paper was to provide an understanding of the orbital thermal environment analysis by providing basic data on the space thermal environment in the earth-orbit and describing thermal relations that calculate the amount of space heat inflow into satellites. Additionally, an example of a virtual satellite shows the overall process of analyzing the orbital thermal environment during a mission lifetime.
This study recent changes in urban thermal environment caused by climate change generate diverse problems such as urban heat island effects, heat wave, and drought. Under this condition, with the increased perception and expectation of the quality of life, the urban citizens' desire for outdoor activities is increasing. This study conducted the thermal environment analysis focusing on the urban ecological park used by many urban citizens, and also suggested the renovation measures for urban ecological park considering the thermal environment. As the research site, the ecologically-favorable Gildong Ecological Pak with diverse space composition was selected. The measuring items were measured and analyzed by dividing them into thermal environment index and thermal comfort index. In the results of analysis in each type of park space, the forest zone showed the most favorable result. Based on such results, total three kinds of renovation measures for urban ecological park considering the thermal environment were suggested. Through this, the urban ecology park renovation plans were presented in three ways. The results of this study are meaningful in that it can be used as a base material for creating an ecological park considering the thermal environment.

Thermal analysis for the simulation of satellite component level thermal vacuum test processes was carried out by considering thermal vacuum test environment condition, thermal vacuum chamber configuration, and satellite's inner thermal environment. The transient analysis results can be obtained for the temperatures of component and thermal vacuum chamber assemblies. The thermal analysis model was verified with the component thermal environmental test results by using enhanced thermal vacuum chamber.

To improve thermal environments in urban area, the structural characteristic analysis of thermal environments of the certain area should be preceded to analyze and supplement its problems. With Landsat-8, we measured the centrality estimation, the distribution map, and the spatial statistical analysis of Daegu Metropolitan City in January and August, which of data applied in analyzing the structure of thermal environments following to its spatial property. The thermal infrared band of satellite images has been used to analyze the standard normal deviated scores, which extract the centrality, while the cluster map, based upon Local Local Moran's I, has composed for understanding the autocorrelation of local spatial within environment space structure. Understanding the distribution features as well as the pivot center of thermal environments with satellite images provides principle database for updating urban thermal environments' policies and plans; because those are reference materials that should have precedence over for diverse thermal environment policies.
In recent years, the quality of the outdoor thermal environment has come to be regarded as important as that of the indoor thermal environment. Since the outdoor thermal environment is composed of many elements and is affected by many factors, it is not easy to evaluate the impact of each factor separately. Hence, a comprehensive assessment method is required. In order to evaluate the pedestrian level comfort of an outdoor climate, it is necessary to investigate not only wind velocity but also various physical elements, such as temperature, moisture, radiation, etc. Prediction of wind and thermal environment for a large scale buildings is one of the most important targets for research. Wind and thermal change in a city area is a very complicated phenomenon affected by many physical processes. The purpose of this study is to develop a design plan for wind environment at a large Buildings. In this study, we analyze outdoor wind environment and thermal environment on buildings using the CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) method. The arrangement of building models is an apartment in Jeonju. These prediction of wind and thermal environment for a large scale buildings is necessary in a plan before a building is built.

The optimal design method of indoor thermal environment using CFD coupled simulation and genetic algorithms (GA) is developed in this study. CFD could analyze the thermal environment considering the distribution of temperature, velocity, etc. in a room. Therefore, It would be appropriate to use CFD for the optimal design method considering their distribution. In this paper, the optimal design means the most appropriate boundary conditions of the room among the conditions where the design target of indoor therm environment is achieved. Two step optimal indoor thermal environment design method is proposed. It includes the GA for searching the optimal indoor thermal environment design. To examine the performance of this method, the optimal design of hybrid ventilation system, which uses the natural cross ventilation and the radiation-cooling panel is conducted. The optimal design which satisfies the design target (thermal comfort, minimum cooling load, minimum vertical temperature difference) is found using two step optimal design method.

This study was conducted to analyze the thermal comfort in the urban neighborhood park and to obtain a plan for improvement of the thermal environment. First, in the result of the analysis of the distribution characteristics of the park's main thermal environment factors and differences among types of space, temperature, relative humidity, and wind speed did not show a clear difference spatially. However, the median radiant temperature showed great differences according to the openness of the space and the covering material. According to the evaluation of thermal comfort by types of space based on derived thermal environmental factors, the PMV value of the square was the highest at 4.39, the paths showed 2.58, greenery 1.90, and resting spaces 0.42. In the result of the PMV regression model established for the evaluation of the significance of these thermal environment factors that decide thermal comfort, it showed that the relative significance to the PMV was as follows in decreasing order: median radiant temperature(1.084), wind speed(-0.280), temperature(0.013), and relative humidity(-0.009). When conducting a scenario analysis on the areas with need for improvement in thermal environment, it was found that through reflectivity, color and the change in the physical properties of packing materials the thermal comfort felt by the body could be improved, and it is believed that through this the improvement plan can be established.
Nowadays, the thermal environments of classrooms are usually adjusted by the ceiling type air-conditioning system with a temperature sensor installed on inlet of an air-conditioner. However, it is not clear that the conventional temperature sensor position is proper to satisfy both thermal comport and energy saving in summer especially. Therefore, this study is aimed at finding out the best position of the temperature sensor on the purpose of the comfort thermal environment and energy saving. The different 5 positions for the temperature sensor are supposed in this paper to analyze thermal environment by CFD. From the analysis through the CFD simulations, the best position of the temperature sensor satisfying for both comfort thermal environment and energy saving is obtained.

Since data centers are places that provide IT services 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, data center power consumption is expected to increase to approximately 10% by 2030, and the introduction of high-density IT equipment will gradually increase. In order to ensure the stable operation of IT equipment, various types of research are required to conserve energy in cooling and improve energy management. This study proposes the following process for energy saving in data centers. We conducted CFD modeling of the data center, proposed an artificial intelligence-based thermal environment prediction model, compared actual measured data, the predicted model, and the CFD results, and finally evaluated the data center's thermal management performance. It can be seen that the predicted values of RCI, RTI, and PUE are also similar according to the normalization used in the normalization method. Therefore, it is judged that the algorithm proposed in this study can be applied and provided as a thermal environment prediction model applied to data centers.
In this study, the thermal environment in a large scale coal mine located in Taebaek, Gangwondo was assessed by a field survey. In order to estimate the thermal environment, various heat stress indices such as WBGT, HSI, ESI, KATA index and effective temperature were investigated. Correlation analysis was also conducted. It was found that the thermal environment in most workplace was high. In particular, the correlation coefficient between HSI reflected in physiological fatigue characteristic and the maximum sweat evaporation heat was -0.834. This shows that the correlation coefficient have the most influence on HSI index. The factor which has the most influence on the maximum sweat evaporation heat is velocity of air. The thermal environment of high-depth coal mines is likely to be improved by installing a structure that enables the maximum prevention of extended digging, air doors, or the leakage of the inflow of air in the first shaft.
