Lignin model compounds I-lV were pyrolyzed at 315$^{\circ}C$. The mixture compounds pyrolized were analyzed by GC-MS spectrometry. The results were summarized as follows : 1. From the pyrolysis of lignin model compound I and II, 0.45mo1 of guaiacol, 0.5mol of dimethoxyphenol(DMP), and 0.12 and 0.23mo1 of dimethoxyacetonphenone(DMAP) were produced respectively. 2. In the pyrolysis of lignin model compound III and IV, 0.26mol of guaiacol, 0.30mo1 of DMP, and 0.09 and 0.15mo1 of trimethoxyaretonphenone(TMAP) were produced respectively 3. Pyrolysis mechanism of lignin model compounds are dehydrated at first, and $\beta$-04 linkage cleavaged, and then guaiacol, DMP, DMAP and TMAP were produced. The above results show that lignin model compound I and II produce more aromatic compounds than lignin model compound III and IV. This is reason that veratryl unit structures may pyrolize easier than trimethoxyphenol unit structures. The closer research is proceeding.

Fast pyrolysis of Quercus acutissima was carried out in a fluidized bed pyrolyser and then the physicochemical properities of obtained bio-oil were analyzed using GC/MS. The yields of bio-oil of Quercus acutissima and Larix leptolepis from a fluidized bed pyrolyzer were maximized at $350^{\circ}C\;and\;400^{\circ}C$, respectively. This is due to the difference or cellulose content between the two tree species. Above the optimum temperature, the yields of char and oil decreased as the reaction temperature increased, but the yield of gas-phase and water fraction increased. It is concluded that this phenomenon is occured by secondary pyrolysis in the free board. The feeding rate of the sample in a fluidized bed pyrolyser did not affect the yields and composition of products, because of a sufficient mixing between bed materials and sand.
In 2019, the first excavation survey was conducted at the Temple Site No. 4 of Yaksugok Vally in Namsan Mountain, Gyeongju to determine the original location of the headless stone Buddha statue and the structure of the temple site. The survey excavated a stone Buddha head that was confirmed in a comparative analysis to be petrologically and mineralogically identical to a headless stone seated Buddha statue found derelict nearby. Traces of gold leaf and black adhesive were found on a portion of the right side of the face of the Buddha head buried in the ground. Since it is exceedingly rare for lacquer and gilding techniques to have been applied to a large stone Buddha statue without a base layer, this study examines the gilding techniques of the time by analyzing the characteristics of the materials used. In this process, the structure of the gold foil was observed through analytical microscopy and scanning electron microscopy with energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry, and the gold (Au) component was identified. As a result of analyzing the black adhesive using pyrolysis-gas chromatograph/mass spectrometry (pyrolysis-GC/MS), pyrolysis compounds such as hydrocarbons, fatty acids, catechol, and catechol oxidation products were detected. This was identical to the characteristics identified upon analyzing lacquer collected from species of lacquer tree whose main component is urushiol. Therefore, it was confirmed that the stone Buddha head excavated from the Temple Site No. 4 of Yaksugok Valley was separated from a nearby stone seated Buddha statue, and that the gold foil was attached using lacquer sap collected from lacquer trees, which grow in Korea, China, and Japan.
Pyrolysis characteristics of waste plastic films were investigated by using a thermogravimetric analysis and pyrolyzer-gas chromatography/mass spectrometry. Thermogravimetric analysis results revealed that the pyrolysis of waste plastic films can be divided into two distinct reactions; (1) the decomposition reaction of starch at between 200 and $370^{\circ}C$ and (2) that of other plastic polymers such as PS, PP, PE at between 370 and $510^{\circ}C$. The kinetic analysis results obtained by using the revised Ozawa method indicated that the apparent activation energy of the pyrolysis reaction of waste plastic films was also changed dramatically according to the different decomposition reactions of two major waste plastic film components. Py-GC/MS results also revealed that the typical pyrolyzates of each polymer in waste plastic films were levoglucosan (starch), terephthalic acid (PET), styrene monomer, dimer, and trimer (PS), methylated alkenes (PP), and triplet peaks (PE) composed of alkadiene/alkene/alkane. The phthalate, used as a polymer additive, was also detected on the pyrogram of waste plastic films mixture.
Flammable liquids residues in fire debris and pyrolysis products of flammable materials were analyzed by using Gas detecting tube, Gas Chromatograph/Mass Spectrometers (GC/MS), and Pyrolyzer. Comparison studies between chemical components detected in debris fired with and without Flammable liquids were performed. Though Flammable liquids were not present in debris, Gas detecting tube colors were also changed. Chemical components produced from conventional combustions were different from those produced from pyrolysis. Due to the difference of the reaction conditions between combustions and pyrolysis, different chemical products were produced. Petrochemical products of PVC wood-linoleum block could produce ignitable chemicals, such as toluene, ethylbenzene, undecane, and dodecane. So, for better fire investigation more consideration of those chemicals will be porformed.

This research conducted a component analysis and conservation treatment of "Sangryangmun," a material which had been written in 1965 and was discovered during the repair project for "Jinnamgwan" in Yeosu. The "Sangryangmun" has been stored in a cylindrical metal storage; however, defects, discolorations, hardening, and damages caused by pollutants were found. Based on the XRF analysis, rust in the cylindrical metal storage, which was made of Cu, was stuck on the surface of the "Sangryangmun". Using FT-IR and Pyrolysis-GC/MS analyses, carbonyl and compounds of fatty acids were detected; the organic material on the surface of the "Sangryangmun" was identified to have belonged to oil-based components. Therefore, it was presumed that the bast fibers of a mulberry was used in the paper. To determine the conservation materials, component analysis, condition survey, and preliminary test on adhesives were conducted. Moreover, the missing parts and partial linings were filled using mulberry-fiber paper, methyl cellulose, etc.
In this study, the physical and chemical analyses of petroleum residues (pyrolized fuel oil, PFO) were conducted and major components were selected to investigate their fire and explosion characteristics. Major component distribution areas of the PFO were identified via the GC-SIMDIS and MALDI-TOF analyses. In addition, the qualitative analysis of major component distribution areas was performed by GC-MS analysis. Major components of pyrolysis residue were selected based on the results of various analyses such as EA, SARA and TGA. As a result, benzene, toluene and xylene were selected as major components. Finally, the process hazard analysis software tool (PHAST) analysis was performed to investigate the range of maximum damage effect in case of fire and explosion. Toluene presented the highest risk due to the radiation effect of $227kW/m^2$ and 118 m in the case of jet fire. Xylene and benzene showed the maximum radiant heat values of 114 and $151kW/m^2$, respectively. It was also confirmed from the analysis of pasquill stability and wind speed that the radiant heat increased up to 55% according to wind speed in benzene, which was considered to be a main factor increasing the influence range.

The characteristics of the bio-oil produced by the pyrolysis process with pig feces was investigated in this paper. The continuous auger-type reactor produced bio-oil was maintained at the temperature range of 400 to $600^{\circ}C$, which was higher than a typical that in a conventional pyrolysis system. The pig feces was used as the feedstock. The bio-oil and its compositions were characterized by water analysis, heating values, elemental analysis, bio-oil compounds, by Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry (GC/MS), and functional group by $^1H$ NMR spectroscopy. It was found that the maximum bio-oil yields of 21% w.t. was achieved at $550^{\circ}C$. This result suggested that this auger reactor might be a potential technology for livestock waste treatment to produce bio-oil because it is able to be improved to reach higher efficiency of bio-oil production in further study. The pyrolysis system reported herein had low heat transfer into the feedstock in the auger reactor so that it needs improve the heat conduction rate of the system in further study.
Lacquer has been used as a natural paint or adhesive in Korea since 2nd century B.C. It has been found to have been used as an adhesive as mentioned in old records and as seen in excavated relics, It was also mixed with flour, animal glue, or fish glue to produce lacquer adhesives. Qualitative analysis and evaluation of the applicability of lacquer and additives was performed in this study. The results of EGA analysis for lacquer additives confirmed that the pyrolysis temperature of lacquer, glucose glue, and animal glue. On the basis of this result, raw lacquer sample was checked that pyrolysis product that originated from urushiol side chain (R group). Components originating from glucose and amino acid were detected in glutinous rice paste and animal glue samples. In this study, the optimum pyrolysis temperature for each lacquer and additive mixture was determined from basic qualitative analysis data. By performing the qualitative analysis of each mixture, the applicability of this technique for analyzing real relics was evaluated.

This study investigated the conversion of oil products from polystyrene by using dispersed Co and Mo catalyst on reaction time and concentration change for knowledging on characteristics at low temperature (425, 450 and $475^{\circ}C$) pyrolysis and reaction time(20~80 min, 15 min interval) in a batch reactor. It will be showed the conditions for optimum pyrolysis at reaction temperature $450^{\circ}C$ and the reaction time 35min, and the main components of the converted liquid oil were styrene and benzene derivatives by GC/MS. The oil products formed during pyrolysis were classified into gas, gasoline, kero, diesel and heavy oil according to the domestic specification of petroleum products. The pyrolysis conversion rate was showed as Co catalyst > Mo catalyst > Thermal in all reaction time at reaction temperature $450^{\circ}C$. The yields rate of gas, kerosine, diesel were the most hight at Mo Catalyst, gasoline was at thermal and heavy oil was at Co catalyst. The conversion rate and yields of the pyrolysis products were the most height when Co catalyst ratio was 100%.
