  • This paper shows the study on the design of the spray-freeze dryer for the production of the pulmonary inhalation powders. Powder production and handling has been an integral part of pharmaceutical processing because of the wide use of oral dosage forms. There are a few commonly used powder preparation methods including mechanical milling, precipitaion, spray drying, freeze drying, and so on. In general, methods available for preparing inhalation powders are limited due to certain inhalation powder's sensitive nature to the processing environments. This is particularly true for preparing dry powder aerosols where the aerodynamic particle size$(<5{\mu}m)$ and the size distribution are pivotal. Supercritical fluid antisolvent and spray freeze drying have recently emerged as promising techniques for producing powders for use in microcapsulation. However, the aerosol applications of these powders are yet to be explored. The purpose of this study is to test the feasibility of using spray freeze-dried pulmonary inhalation powders for aerosolization.

Optimum Design of a Cooling Air Cooler Heat Exchanger by Using a Response Surface Method (반응표면법을 이용한 Cooling Air Cooler 열교환기의 최적 설계)

  • Global air traffic is forecast to grow at an average annual rate of around 5% in the next 20 years. The continuous growth of air traffic and raised environmental awareness put increasing pressure on aero engine manufacturers to reduce fuel burn and emissions. NEWAC are a new integrated program of the European Union with focus on innovative core engine concepts to achieve this problem. In this paper, Within NEWAC, active core engine configurations will be investigated. the investigation is focused on the optimal design of the CAC heat exchanger for active core. For optimal design of he CAC heat exchanger, the HTFS of basic design of heat exchanger are analyzed so as to proceed an optimization routines based on Response Surface Method(RSM) and Design of Experiment(DOE). As a result, CAC heat exchanger optimized by 1.0314 lb/s mass flow rate and 3.9058 mm TP of tube layout and 206.8181 mm height of heat exchanger and 918 tube number for heat transfer and pressure drop. We confirm the design optimization using RSM and DOE is useful on complex structure of heat exchanger.

알루미늄 다층금속복합판재의 제조 및 응용기술

  • 각종 전자 및 산업용 기기, 수송기기류의 고성능화에 따라 다양한 특성을 갖는 합금판재에 대한 수요도 증가하여, 기존의 합금판재의 성질이외의 기능성이 추가된 새로운 판재 제조기술 확보의 필요성이 증가하고 있다. 그러나 기존의 합금 설계 및 조직제어방법으로는 새로운 기능을 갖는 합금 판재의 개발에는 한계가 있으며 따라서 기존 특성이외에 여러 가지 기능성을 부여하는 판재의 제조를 위한 새로운 기술 개발이 요구되고 있다. 특히 경량재료로서 그 사용량이 계속 증가하고 있는 알루미늄 판재에 대하여 내 외부 층의 조성이 다른 합금으로 이루어진 다층 금속판재 제조방법을 도입함으로써 내식성, 열전도성, 브레이징성 등의 다양한 기능성이 부여된 알루미늄 판재의 제조가 가능하다. 본 연구에서는 다양한 기능성을 갖는 다층 금속 복합판재를 제조하기위하여 압연접합기술을 적용하고 다양한 합금계의 조합을 통하여 기능성이 향상된 다층 알루미늄 판재를 제조하는 기술을 개발하였다. 먼저 경량 열교환기 제조에 사용되고 있는 브레이징용 알루미늄 클래드재 제조를 위하여 여러 가지 압연접합 조건에서 알루미늄 클래드 재를 효율적으로 제조하는 방법을 개발하였다. 또한 기존의 고강도 알루미늄 합금에 대하여 내 외부합금층을 달리하여 다층 알루미늄 판재를 제조하고 기계적 특성 변화을 평가하였으며 새로운 특성을 갖는 알루미늄 판재의 제조가능성을 타진하였다.

Development of Design-Program of Fixed Type Tube-Sheet for Heat Exchanger (열교환기용 고정형 튜브시트의 설계프로그램 개발)

  • Design programs of tube-sheet for heat exchanger based on the related engineering society codes have been widely used. But it is not easy fer beginners to use the design programs. So we need to develop an easy program for design of tube-sheet for heat exchanger. This paper describes a developed design-program of tube-sheet fur heat exchanger. The developed program was coded on boiler theory and pressure vessel codes, provided by TEMA(Tubular Exchanger Manufactures Association) and ASME(American Society of Mechanical Engineers). Visual Basic, which is convenient for beginners to deal with, was used in the programming. Also a finite element analysis of tube-sheet for heat exchanger was carried to verify this developed program by using a commercial software, ANSYS. In the finite element analysis, tube and tube-sheet of heat exchanger were substituted by solid plate having equivalent properties for convenience of calculation. The thickness of tube-sheet obtained by the developed design-program was in good agreement with that of tube-sheet by FEA.

  • 최근 석유, 가스, 석탄을 비롯한 화석연료의 다량 사용으로 기후변화, 대기오염 등의 환경문제 및 자원 고갈의 우려 때문에 바이오매스는 중요한 화석연료 대체 에너지 자원으로써 큰 관심을 받고 있다. 바이오매스 자원을 에너지로 전환하는 방법 중 하나인 급속 열분해 공정은 산소가 없는 상태에서 바이오매스를 열적으로 분해하여 액상 상태의 생성물을 회수하는 공정으로, 증기상의 열분해 가스를 응축하여 회수하게 된다. 바이오매스의 급속 열분해에 관한 연구는 주로 바이오매스의 종류와 열분해 조건에 따라 회수되는 바이오 원유의 수율 및 물리 화학적 특성에 관한 연구가 수행되고 있으나, 열분해 가스의 응축에 관한 연구는 응축에 수반되는 복잡한 물리적 현상 때문에 미진하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 바이오매스의 급속 열분해를 통해 생성되는 증기상의 열분해 가스의 응축 현상을 모사 할 수 있는 모델링 기법에 대해 연구하였다. 급속 열분해 공정을 통해 생성되는 바이오 원유는 수백개의 화합물로 구성되어 있으며, 동일한 바이오매스를 사용한 경우라도 공정조건에 따라 바이오 원유에 포함된 화합물은 달라진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 바이오 원유의 주요 화합물인 water, propanal, butanal, pentanal, phenol, guaiacol, coniferyl alcohol, formic acid, acetic acid, propanoic acid, butanoid acid를 대상으로 열분해 가스의 응축을 모사하였다. 본 연구에서는 응축 모델링 기법의 검증을 위해 실험결과와 비교하여 정확성을 검증하였으며, 본 연구의 결과를 활용하여 응축 조건 변화에 따른 급속 열분해 가스의 응축률을 예측하고, 이를 이용한 응축 열교환기 설계에 유용하게 사용될 수 있을 것으로 판단된다.

Evaporation Pressure Drop of Carbon Dioxide in a Horizontal Tube (수평관내 이산화탄소의 증발 압력강하)

  • The evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ (R-744) in a horizontal tube was investigated experimentally. The main components of the refrigerant loop are a receiver, a variable-speed pump, a mass flow meter, a pre-heater and an evaporator (test section). The test section consists of a smooth, horizontal stainless steel tube of 4.57 mm inner diameter. The experiments were conducted at saturation temperature of $-5^{\circ}C\;to\;5^{\circ}C$, and heat flux of 10 to $40kW/m^2$. The test results showed that the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ are highly dependent on the vapor quality, heat flux and saturation temperature. The measured pressure drop during the evaporation process of $CO_2$ increases with increased mass flux, and decreased saturation temperature. The evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ is much lower than that of R 22. In comparison with test results and existing correlations, the best fit of the present experimental data is obtained with the previous correlation. But existing correlations failed to predict the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$. Therefore, it is necessary to develop reliable and accurate predictions determining the evaporation pressure drop of $CO_2$ in a horizontal tube.

  • The proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) is regarded as the most promising alternative power sources for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) due to its high energy density and silent operation. Since there are many load changes during UAV flight, thermal management is one of the important factor for the performance of PEMFC. In order to reduce the UAV weight for the stable operation of UAV, thermal management system (TMS) studied in this work does not use the fan but use the air flowing into UAV by UAV flight. In order to develop the passive type heat exchanger (HEX) for 1kW PEMFC, four types of HEXs are fabricated and their cooling performances are compared. The parametric study on the cooling performance of HEXs has performed with the variation of operating parameters such as mass flow rates and inlet temperature of air and coolant. Type 4 has the best performance in every case. This study can be helpful to achieve the optimal design of HEX for PEMFC powered UAV.

Exergy Analysis of Regenerative Steam-Injection Gas Turbine Systems (증기분사 재생 가스터빈 시스템의 엑서지 해석)

  • An exergy analysis is carried out for the regenerative steam-injection gas turbine systems which has a potential of enhanced thermal efficiency and specific power. Using the analysis model in the view of the second law of thermodynamics, the effects of pressure ratio, steam injection ratio, ambient temperature and turbine inlet temperature are investigated on the performance of the system such as exergetic efficiency, heat recovery ratio of heat exchangers, exergy destruction, loss ratios, and on the optimal conditions for maximum exergy efficiency. The results of computation show that the regenerative steam-injection gas turbine system can make a notable enhancement of exergy efficiency and reduce irreversibilities of the system.

Prediction for Heat Transfer Characteristics of Supercritical Kerosene Using Mixture Surrogate (대체 혼합물을 이용한 케로신의 초임계 열전달 특성 예측)

  • In this study heat transfer characteristics of kerosene at supercritical condition was predicted. And a sample heat transfer calculation was performed using this result. The prediction was done by assuming kerosene as a mixture of a number of pure substances, and combining the thermodynamic properties of them, using NIST SUPERTRAPP. A regeneratively cooled supersonic combustor will be desinged using the resultant thermophysical property data of supercritical kerosene. Comparing with the combustion test results of the regenerative cooling combustor, the predicted thermophysical property data will be verified.

  • In this study, we developed a cooling system for 1 ton size refrigeration vehicle using carbon dioxide natural refrigerant among hydrocarbon type refrigerant which is attracting attention as environment friendly refrigerant, and designed a heat exchanger and a unit cooler to raise COP. In addition, existing CNG 5 ton refrigerated trucks were converted into LNG vehicles to increase the efficiency of the cooling system and ensure safety against CNG. As a result, environmentally friendly refrigerated trucks using natural refrigerants of 1 ton and 5 ton sizes were developed.
