A sub-structure is uplift if the floating greater than dead load of a structure. When such occasion arise, a structure sustain damage. In general, the measures for floating prevention of structure are a permanent anchor method and a drainage method. The primary construction cost of a permanent anchor method is heavy. And a drainage method is needed maintenance management long term. At this point, the measures for floating prevention of a notion being requires the other days. Therefore, at this study a simple construction and a economic vertical drainage system was developed. The findings be used in the in-situ and gave careful consideration to an application. The result of examination, this system considering a characteristic of coefficient of permeability for the ground controls occurrence of floating despite the water level rise of the ground, which a period of construction get shorter compared with other methods, which understood that measures satisfactory in the financial aspect. Especially, A structure occurring effects of flatting under the course of construction made use of it. As the result of the effect of it was confirmed by construction.
This paper is results of experimental research on the effect of application of similarity related to permeability of soil on the consolidation behavior as centrifuge modeling of consolidation is performed with the centrifuge model facility. In this research, the permeability of soil was controlled by changing the viscosity of porewater as the mixed water with glycerin was used during the centrifuge model experiments. The effect of drainage path on consolidation was investigated by installing the vertical drains. A serise of centrifuge model tests with conditions of single vertical and radial horizontal drainage were carried out. Kaolinite and Jumunjin standard sand were used as soft clay and surcharges respectively during tests. For testing condition of single vertical drainage considering similarity of permeability, it was found that consolidation with mixed porewater with glycerin was delayed in comparisons sons with test results with water only. For conditions of horizontal drainage with vertical drains, a low permeability by changing the viscosity of pore water resulted in delayed degree of consolidation at an initial stage of consolidation. But, it predicted not much differences in settlement as long as the consolidation time was sufficiently long enough to finish consolidation. Consequently, it was found that similarity in permeability should be considered to be critical for the case of centrifuge model experiments related to consolidation with long drainage path.
A new constitutive model is proposed for normally consolidated clays. A main skeleton of the proposed model is based on the concepts of the incremental stress-strain theory by Roscoe and Poorooshasb. The equation of the undrained stress path is formulated by introducing the new pore pressure parameter(C), which is the slope of the linear line in the plot of the normalized pore pressure against the stress ratio. Once the stress increment along the constant stress ratio path (followed by untrained stress path) is know, the volumetric strains are calculated from the linear characteristics between void ratio and logarithm of the mean normal stress for any stress ratio. Then the incremental shear strains are successfully predicted by applying the flow rule derived in the modified theory by Roscoe and Burland.

Vertical drain method, which is one of the soft ground improvement methods, shorten s drain path to accelerate consolidation process and is applied in many sites. At a recent, composite discharge capacity experiment that analyze discharge amount by consolidation behavior with overburden pressure of soft ground in laboratory, simulates similarly with actuality. Geotechnical engineering problems such a s soft ground improvement are solved by numerical analysis by development of computer and numerical analysis techniques. Numerical analysis does that result is contrary by user's inexperience for choice of constitution model and application of analysis method. Therefore, this thesis experiments on composite discharge capacity test and study discharge capacity of drain and consolidation behavior of soft ground installed prefabricated vertical drain boards. Also, This thesis studied reasonable input parameters and constitution model by compare results of composite discharge capacity test and numerical analysis using PLAXIS that is 2D finial element numerical analysis program.

In the early 1990s, soil nailing was first introduced as method of reinforcement for the slope stability and ground excavation, and as its application was increased the improved soil nailing was also developed. Most recently used for grout soil nailing greatly improve the methods and techniques for self-improvement techniques are classified as soil nailing. As the representative for the grout pressure method to improve the join method pressure grouting and improved method for the self-drilled soil nailing, removable soil nailing, upward soil nailing combined with horizontal drainage system. This paper is to compare upward soil nailing combined with horizontal drainage system with downward direction of the soil nailing. In order to study the limit equilibrium slope stability analysis and comparison with factor of safage, excavation for the vertical displacement for comparison with continuous analysis. According to this study, safage factor is decreased considerably using limit equilibrium analysis and makes no odds for the horizontal displacement when soil nail was installed upward.
Individual Vacuum Pressure Method (IVPM) is a soft ground improvement technique, in which a vacuum pressure can be directly applied to the vertical drain board to promote consolidation and to strengthen the soft ground. This method does not require surcharge loads, different to embankment or pre-loading method. In this study, the ground improvement efficiency of Individual Vacuum Pressure Method was estimated when suction pressure increases step by step(-20, -40, -60, -80kPa) with different periods. During Individual Vacuum Pressure Method process, surface settlement and pore pressure were monitored, and cone resistance as well as water content were also measured after the completion of Individual Vacuum Pressure Method treatment. From the results, optimum duration of each step of vacuum pressure was determined, and the settlement was calculated using FEM numerical analysis.
The purpose of this study is to suggest the methodology for the computation of uplift pressure and discharge of the seepage flow under gravity dam. A 3-dimensional FDM model is developed for this purpose and this model can simulate the saturated Darcian flow in heterogeneous media. For the verification of the numeric model, test simulation has been executed and the mass balance has been checked. The error does not exceed 3%. Using the developed model, The uplift pressure and seepage flow discharge under gravity dam has been calculated. The uplift pressure shows the similar pattern, comparing with the result of flow-net method. As the length of grout curtain increases, the uplift pressure decreases linearly, but the seepage flow discharge shows the non-linear decreasing pattern. The coefficients of the formulas in the dam-design criteria have been analysed, and ${\alpha}=1/3$ corresponds to the value when the length of curtain grout is 70% of the aquifer height. The uplift pressure near the pressure relief drain has the big curvature vertically and horizontally. The developed model in this study can be used for the evaluation of the effects of seepage flow under gravity dam.

In this study, two different types of dredged fill injection methods are introduced and filling experiments were conducted to analyze the impact of each technique to the distribution and deposition of dredged soil fill and how it influence the final tube shape. Two transparent plastic tubes were fabricated to observe the deposition behavior of the deposited fill material. Both tubes measured 4.0 meters in length (L) and has vinyl tube diameters (D) of 0.5m and 0.7m. T-type and I-type inlet system are also introduced in this paper. The influence of this inlet systems to the distribution and deposition behavior of dredged soil fill inside the vinyl tubes were observed during the experiment. After the sedimentation of the slurry mixture, the water on top of the soil sediments are removed and the slurry mixture was re-injected into the vinyl tube, this process was carried out repeatedly. The shape changes of the vinyl tube, e.g. the changes in both tube height and width, are constantly monitored after each slurry injection and water draining phases. Crater formation was observed in the case of I-Type inlet system and a non-uniform sediment distribution occurred. For the diffusion deposit of soil particles to long distance are minimal shape technique using the T-Type inlet system. Therefore the undrain filling height ratio ($H/D_0$) was found to be around 0.54 to 0.64 and the horizontal strain ratio ($W/D_0$) ranges from 1.45 to 1.54. The filling soil height is proportional to dredged-material filling phases, but, horizontal strain ratio is constant or inversely reduced so that the center of tube body is raised in the upward direction.

The tension leg platform (TLP) is a kind of compliant structures, and is also a type of moored stable platform with a buoyancy exceeding the weight because of having tensioned vertical anchor cables. In this paper, among the various kinds of tension leg structures, Deep Oil Technology (DOT) TLP was analyzed because it has large-displacement portions of the immersed surface such as vertical corner pontoons and small-diameter elongated members such as cross-bracing. It also has results of hydraulic model tests, comparable with theorectical analysis. Because of the vertical axes of symmetry in the three vertical buoyant legs and because there are no larger horizontal buoyant members between these three vertical members, it was decided to develop a numerical algorithm which would predict the dynamic response of the DOT TLP using the previously developed numerical algorithm Floating Vessel Response Simulation (FVRS) for vertically axisymmetric bodies of revolution. In addition, a linearized hydroelastic Morison equation subroutine would be developed to account for the hydrodynamic pressure forces on the small member cross bracing. Interaction between the large buoyant members or small member cross bracings is considered to be negligible and is not included in the analysis. The dynamic response of the DOT TLP in the surge mode is compared with the results of the TLP algorithm for various combinations of diffraction and Morison forces and moments. The results which include the Morison equation are better than the results for diffraction only. This is because the vertically axisymmetric buoyant members are only marginally large enough to consider diffractions effects. The prototype TLP results are expected to be more inertially dominated.
Suction drain method can directly apply vacuum pressure to the soft ground through vertical drains so it can make hardening zones around them. These hardening zones make steeply lower the discharge efficiency of the pore water with decreasing permeability. This paper considered a stepped vacuum pressure to minimize a hardening zone which is one of the important parameters that can decrease discharge efficiency. A series of laboratory tests were conducted in order to examine the effect of the hardening zones and to evaluate their effects to the ground improvements with varying durations which applied stepped vacuum pressures(-20kPa, -40kPa, -60kPa and -80kPa) with Busan marine clay. According to strength(CPT), water content test and theoretical investigation indicate a size of the hardening zone within 7cm and the decreasing ratio of permeability about 2.0~4.0. Also, the total settlements are larger for the stepped vacuum pressure than the instant vacuum loading. The application time with vacuum pressure is determined considering the geotechnical properties of the interested clays. Results of numerical analysis show that consolidation behavior is appropriate to measurement for considering hardening zones.
