The paper presents the results of a study on improvement in flexure capacities of continuous prestressed steel I-girder with section increasement at internal supports. After tensioning, the field experiment on prestressed steel I-girder has been performed in the various aspects of prestressed I-girder introducing section increasement at internal supports, tendon profile.
In the previous construction method of continuous preflex composite girder bridge, we raised the inner support, and cast slab concrete innegative moment section, then lowered it to introduce compressive force in the slab. There were a few problems in the process such as the time required in raising the support and the bending of the camber. Therefore, this paper represents an improved construction method of continuous preflex composite girder by only moving downward the inner and outer supports to figure out problems in previous construction method. This paper proposes a design formula to find a proper cross section of preflex girder.

The increasing sectional stiffness and inducing prestress method of continuous steel box girder using modular CFT members use the restoring force of the CFT module generated from removing the prestressing bars in the CFT module after integrating the prestressed CFT module with the lower steel plate of the steel box girders as a prestressing force. The integrated CFT module in the steel box girder can improve the sectional stiffness of the continuous steel box girder section. To examine the applicability of the introduction of prestressing to the integrated steel box girder using the CFT module, in this study, inducing prestressing tests were conducted using CFT modules for steel plate specimens simulating the lower steel plate of the continuous steel box girder, and FE analyses were conducted for inducing prestressing tests. In addition, to confirm the effect of inducing prestress to the actual steel box girder and increasing sectional stiffness by the CFT modules, FE analyses for the actually applicable continuous steel box section were carried out depending on prestressing force and sectional conditions of the CFT modules, FE analysis results were compared.
Elastic-plastic methods have been used for the better prediction of the actual behavior of continuous-composite plate girder bridges in the overload and maximum load analysis. The structural evaluation using ALFD(Alternate Load Factor Design) uses the elastic-plastic analysis. The plastic rotations that remain after the load is removed can be occurred by the yielding locations of the maximum moment section. This situation can occur due to the residual stresses even if the moment is below the theoretical yield moment. The local yielding causes positive automoments that assure elastic behavior under subsequent overloads. In this study, the automoments at the piers occurred due to the unit plastic rotations and other locations were calculated by the conjugate-beam method and three-moment equation, using the nine design span with progressively smaller pier sections. The automoments were determined by the developed computer programs in this study in which the moments and plastic rotations from the continuity and moment-inelastic rotation relationships must be equal. And also the ratings of 3-span continuous composite plate girder bridges with non-compact section were carried out according to the Korean Highway Bridge Specification.

It has been verified that there is an effect of diminishing in section bringing in internal core section reinforcement and external prestressing rather than general plate-girder bridge as a consequence of analysis. In particular, positive effect was seen in the aspect of usability when external prestressing was in application as rises gained from it minimized the hanging down of a bridge. Based on the result of analysis, a sectional diagram applicable per number of girder has been illustrated which made it possible to estimate the intensity of internal stress in the futurewhere number of girder is limited to 4 and regression equation is presented after regression analysis has been carried out.
This study presents a design method for three-span continuous preflex composite girder bridges (3S-PCB) which imposes prestresses in the negative moment region by lifting or lowering interior supports and the design method is automated by a computer program which incorporates optimal design procedure. The objective function for the design of 3S-PCB minimizes the cost of construction materials and the constraint functions represent the limited dimensions of the design section and the allowable stress for each structural member as given in the specifications. Optimal design procedure used in this study is a modification of existing sequential unconstrained minimization technique (SUMT), a numerical analyses procedure for two-span continuous preflex composite bridges. The optimized design sections determined for each span length are compared with those of simple preflex composite beams (SPCB) and the optimal girder depth is determined by defining the relationship between girder depth and construction material costs.

Cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges are divided into three cross sections of non-composite, partially composite, and fully composite sections, according to their composite characteristics. The Korean provision for the partially and fully composite sections specifies general usage of the stud of shear connectors, whereas the one for the non-composite section specifies empirical usage of slab anchors. However, the actual behavior of the cross sections of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors is close not to the non-composite action, but to the partially composite action. Therefore analytical and experimental studies on partial composites of steel-plate girder bridges using slab anchors are performed in this study. Intial stiffness of the slab anchor is obtained by the experimental study for the first time, and the composite characteristic of simple-span and two-span continuous steel-plate girder bridges is investigated by the finite element analyses for the second time. Based on the obtained initial stiffness, the reduction effect of tensile stresses in the concrete-slab on the intermediate support of the continuous bridge is also considered herein.

수리실험은 30.0m(L')×1.52m(B')×1.10m(H')의 직선 개수로에 050m(l)×0.10m(b)×0.25m(h)의 수제를 수로측면을 따라 연속적으로 배열하여 설치하였다.

To effectively use the cross section of concrete decks, analytical and experimental studies on prestressed steel-box-girder bridges were performed in this study. The method of applying prestress was determined in the analytical study and the longitudinal behavior of the prestressed steel-box-girder bridge was considered in the experimental study. The object model for these studies was a two-span continuous bridge. The method of applying prestress determined herein was divided into two parts: one is that apply prestress to the concrete deck at its intermediate support, and the other is that apply prestress to the lower flange of the steel-box-girder bridge at its end support. The prototype bridge for the experiment was simulated based on the rule of similitude and was fabricated according to construction steps to apply prestress effectively. From the results of the experimental study, it has demonstrated that the prestressed steel-box-girder bridge provides better performance than the general steel-box-girder bridge in view of the increase of the design live load, the reduction of the tensile stress of the concrete deck at intermediate support, and the reduction of the displacement.
