A Longitudinal Study of the Ecological-Systemic Factors on School Absenteeism in South Korean Children - A Panel Fixed Effects Analysis - (아동의 학교결석일 변화에 영향을 미치는 생태체계요인에 관한 종단연구 - 패널고정효과모형을 활용하여 -)

  • School absenteeism is considered one of the early predictors of school drop-out and serious delinquency or criminal behavior. The primary goal of the current study was to explore the protective and risk factors related to changing school absenteeism over time based on the ecological-systemic perspective. The data was derived from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) using the 2011 and 2012 survey waves collected from 2,378 elementary school students. Using this data, Panel Fixed Effects Analysis was conducted. Major findings indicated that daily computer usage, parental abuse, school activity attendance, and school grades had an effect on students missing school days over time. Specifically, high levels of computer usage and parental abuse were related to increased school absenteeism, while high levels of school activity attendance and school grades were associated with decreased school absenteeism. These findings emphasized the importance of predictive intervention for children and suggested the need to construct a school absenteeism monitoring system in South Korea.

The Effects of Individual Characteristics, School Factors, and Community Factors on Adolescents School Violence Behavior -A multilevel analysis- (청소년의 학교폭력 가해행동에 영향을 미치는 요인 -다층모형 분석-)

  • This study investigated the effects of individual characteristics, school factors, and community factors on adolescent school violence behaviors. Data from a total of 1,777 middle school students from 50 schools in the Seoul and Gyeonggi regions were used for analysis. A hierarchical generalized linear modeling was employed to conduct a two-level analysis. Results showed that adolescents' individual factors, including attitudes toward violence, parental attachment, child abuse experiences, and affiliation with delinquent peers, as well as school factors including teacher's abusive classroom discipline, affected adolescent school violence behaviors. In addition, neighborhood disorder was found to be significantly positively correlated with adolescents' school violence. The results of this study suggest that for an understanding of school violence and to prepare countermeasures accordingly, integrated consideration of various environmental contexts in adolescents' daily lives, such as family, school, and community environments, is necessary. A multidimensional, integrated intervention plan to effectively resolve school violence based on these research results is discussed.

The Concurrent and Lagged Effects of Parental Neglect and Abuse on Longitudinal Changes in Late Childhood School Adjustment (후기 아동기 학교적응 변화에 대한 부모 방임과 학대 경향성의 동시 및 지연효과)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the concurrent and lagged effects of parental neglect and abuse on longitudinal changes in late childhood school adjustment. This study utilized survey data from the fourth through seventh iterations of the Korean Child Youth Panel Study conducted on fourth-year elementary school students through first-year middle school students. The data was analyzed using latent growth modeling. The results were as follows. First, the level of school adjustment decreased gradually. Second, both neglect and abuse had concurrent effects on school adjustment. Third, neglect had lagged effects on school adjustment but abuse did not. The paper discusses the implications of these results. The results of this study can be used to better understand and support children who have suffered neglect or abuse adjust to school during late childhood.

  • 이 대담 시리즈는 학교도서관에 대한 도서관계 안팎의 관심을 높이고 현단계 학교도서관 운동이 나아갈 길을 모색해보려는 취지에서 시도된 것이다. 과거 학교도서관 운동을 주도하였거나 오랫동안 학교도서관 현장을 지켜온 인물들을 찾아 그들의 경험과 의식 속에 쌓여 있는 역사를 끌어내어 오늘을 비추어 보고 내일을 전망하는 계기로 삼을 것이다. 이번 대담에서 만난 사람은 우리 나라 학교도서관 운동의 초창기에 많은 활동을 한 조재후 선생이다. 선생은 부산중, 경남여고, 부산고 등에서 10년간 (1953-1963) 사서교사로 활동하면서 학교도서관 운동의 지평을 넓히는데 크게 기여하였으며 부산시 교육위원회 연구사 및 장학사(1963-1972), 문교부 중앙 시청 각교육원 연구관(1972-1973), 문교부 장학관 (1973-1975), 서울시 동부 교육구청장(1980-1982) 등으로 활동하셨다. 또한 영등포중, 혜화여고, 용산공고, 경기상고 등에서 교장으로 재직하시고 정년퇴임후 현재 서울 정화여자상업고등학교 교장으로 재직하고 계신다. 대담 일시 : 1998년 5월 2일 오전9시 30분 - 오전 11시 30분 대담 장소 : 서울 정화여상 교장실

  • The study is to suggest the roles of school library professionals upon changes of school libraries according to the 7th Korean Educational Curriculum. With this purpose, it investigates the policies and current status of allocations of school library professionals, and the interview of non-regular librarian about works. The study also compares job understanding of teacher-librarians, teachers managing school libraries and that of non-regular librarians in school libraries. It suggested the desirable roles of school library professionals.

  • 현재 우리는 정보화 시대를 살아가고 있다. 정보화 시대를 주도하고 있는 컴퓨터는 이제 우리가 배워야 할 필수 요건이 되고 있다. 급변하는 정보화 시대에 발맞추어 나가기 위해 우리나라뿐만이 아니라 전 세계에서 컴퓨터 교육이 실시되어 지고 있다. 본 연구에서는 현재 초등학교에서 정보화 교육을 위한 컴퓨터 수업이 어떻게 이루어지고 있는지 그 실태를 파악하고, 그 문제점에 대한 개선방안을 제공하고자 한다. 이러한 목적을 위하여 먼저 우리나라 초등학교 컴퓨터 교육의 목표와 필요성, 역사, 현 컴퓨터 교육과정의 특징, 우리나라 컴퓨터 교육 과정의 변화를 살펴보았으며, 컴퓨터 교육의 연계성을 알아보기 위해 중학교 컴퓨터 교육과정과 초등학교 교육과정을 비교, 분석하였다. 그리고 초등학교 선생님들이 컴퓨터 수업에 어려움을 겪고 있고, 그로 인해 발생되는 문제점들의 해결 방안을 컴퓨터 전담제로 제시하기 위하여 초등학교에서의 컴퓨터 전담제를 실시하고 있는 한 학교와 그렇지 못한 환경의 학교의 학생들을 대상으로 설문지를 통해 컴퓨터 교육의 실태를 비교${\cdot}$분석하였다.

The Federal Legislations and School Library Standards in the School Library Development of the U. S. (미국 학교도서관 발전에 있어서 연방 법률과 학교도서관 기준)

  • The purpose of this study Is to investigate how federal legislations for school libraries and school library standards have affected the development of school libraries in the U. S. The U. S. school library statistics, school library standards, and federal legislation were analyzed. The results show that school libraries have been developed by continuous supporting from federal legislation, rather than that of states' governments or school districts. The school library standards also are considered important factors for school libraries' improvement. As understanding the history of the U. S. school libraries' development, Korean school libraries are needed persistent supports from Korean government.

  • 학교급식이 확대실시 됨에 따라 학교급식으로 인한 식중독 발생은 증가하는 추세이다. 그 원인으로는 급식교 시설ㆍ설비의 미비, 구매 관리 체계의 미흡, 공급업체의 불량 식재료 납품 등이 지적되고 있으며, 특히 공급업체의 식재료 생산 및 유통 단계의 미흡한 위생 체계가 불량 식재료 납품의 주요 원인으로 지적되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 급식 재료 구매관리를 HACCP시스템의 한 단계로 인식시켜 바람직한 식재료 구매 관리 체계를 모색하여 학교급식 식중독 발생 zero화를 이루는데 기여하고자, 전라북도 직영급식 초등학교 영양사를 대상으로 설문조사 하였다.(중략)

  • As school libraries increase quantitatively, the importance of volunteer activities in school library is highly emphasized. In that regard, this thesis approaches and discusses the concept of the school library and school library volunteers systematically through the literature review. Surveys and interviews were conducted to investigate and analyze school library volunteers. The survey was completed by school librarians and school library volunteers separately from the 12 elementary schools in the Seoul Dongjak District Office of Education. The current situation of school library volunteers has been analyzed through surveys and accompanied interviews and, based on the analysis, some suggestions were made to improve school library voluntary activities.
