The Effects of Engineering Tools on Students' Math Academic Achievement and Math Learning Attitude in Middle School Mathematics Geometrical Unit (중학교 수학 기하 단원에서 공학적 도구 활용이 학생들의 수학 학업 성취도와 수학 학습 태도에 미치는 효과)

  • This study was conducted to analyze the effects of mathematics classes using engineering tools on students' mathematics academic achievement and mathematics learning attitude, focusing on the basic figure and drawing sections of the first grade of middle school. Eighty students of first-grade at H Middle School in South Gyeongsang province were divided into two groups, taking a total of six weeks of classes using engineering tools(Algeomath) and traditional tools, and covariate analysis(ANCOVA) was used to analyze students' mathematics academic achievements and changes in mathematical learning attitude. The analysis found that classes using engineering tools were effective in students' mathematics academic achievements and attitude of learning math. Based on the results of the study, the necessity of utilizing various engineering tools in the future secondary school math class and the prospect and implications of the classes were discussed.

  • This paper looks into the measurement of modeling ability in different fields like science, mathematics, operations research and management science and emulates the ideas to system analysis and design where modeling is a very useful skill. An assessment tool was designed to measure the graphical modeling ability in systems analysis and design. It was administered to 92 students and submitted to 10 MIS experts and tested statistically for its reliability and validity.

  • In an information society, privacy protection is one of the most important ethical issues. In medical institutes in which personal medical information is collected and stored, in addition, a privacy breach can cause a serious damage on personal lives. This study attempted to develop privacy concern measurement tool in personal medical information to measure patients' concern on their medical information from medical service consumers' perspective and verify its validity. For this, privacy concern measurement tool in personal medical information was developed based on the results of previous studies. After performing Exploratory Factor Analysis(EFA) and Confirmatory Factor Analysis(CFA) on the measurement tool, its reliability and validity were verified. It appears that the measurement tool would be useful in developing decent privacy protection policy after investigating citizens' concern on the protection of personal medical information and domains they are interested in. For medical institutes as well, they would be helpful in coming up with a reasonable plan after figuring out problems in the protection of personal medical information and current status.

Reliability and Validity of an Instrument Assessing Spiritual Needs of Families of Terminal Cancer Patients (말기 환자 가족 영적요구 측정도구의 신뢰도 및 타당도 검증)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to test the reliability and validity of an instrument that measures spiritual needs of families of terminal cancer patients. Methods: This methodological study was processed as follows: 1) The preliminary 26 items were developed based a conceptual framework of spiritual needs of families of patients with cancer. 2) The content was validated by an expert panel (Three nursing professors and five hospice nursing specialists). 3) The instrument was validated by a survey (n=111). 4) Twenty-six items were selected and used for the final version of the scale. Results: Three factors were extracted through factor analysis: 'relationship with God/Acceptance of dying', 'recovery of relationship/hope and peace', and 'meaning and purpose of life'. These factors explained 61.088% of the total variance. Cronbach's alpha and Guttman split-half coefficient of the 26 items were 0.944 and 0.826 respectively. Conclusion: This scale was identified as a valid and reliable tool. Therefore, the scale is useful in assessing spiritual needs of families of terminal cancer patients in the field of hospice and palliative care.

Feasibility and Reliability Analysis of Convergent Job Measurement Tool for Elementary School Health Teachers (초등학교 보건교사를 위한 융복합적 직무측정도구의 타당도와 신뢰도 분석)

  • This study aims to evaluate of validity and reliability of the job performance tool already developed for the elementary school health teachers. 305 health teachers responded to the questionnaire composed of 50 items. The validity and reliability of the tool were verified by confirmatory factor analysis. That were composed of 8 sub-categories and had 4 factors. The importance, frequency, and difficulty of the four factors were classified according to the questionnaire criteria, but the importance of health promotion is classified as one new item factor. The statistical significance of the fit of the model was 3.664 (df = 246, p<0.001), RMSEA=0.09, NFI=0.85 and CFI=0.88. The internal consistency of the subscales was Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ of 0.88 to 0.96. The internal consistency of the subscales, Cronbach's ${\alpha}$ was 0.88~0.96. This study shows that the analysis tool for primary school health teacher is valid and reliable as a measurement tool.

Study on the Correction of a Wing-tail Interference Effect in a Semi-empirical Aerodynamic Analysis Tool (반경험적 공력 해석도구의 주날개-꼬리날개 간섭 효과 보정에 대한 연구)

  • In this paper, the aerodynamic characteristics of general tail controlled missile were predicted and corrected the result using semi-empirical analysis tool. The cause of the error was confirmed by comparing the aerodynamic characteristics prediction result of the semi-empirical analysis tool with the wind tunnel test result, and the main error factor of the semi-empirical analysis tool was the interference component between the main wing and the tail wing. The semi-empirical analysis results were corrected using the wind tunnel test results and the computational analysis results, and it was confirmed that the corrected data agrees well with the wind tunnel test results. Through this study, it was confirmed that the wing-tail interference component correction is needed when predicting the aerodynamic characteristics of a general tail controlled missile using a semi-empirical analysis tool.

Development and Feasibility Study of the Nature of Science Instrument for Elementary School Students (초등학생용 과학의 본성 검사 도구 개발 및 타당성 검토)

  • In this study, the Nature of Science (NOS) instrument for elementary school students in the form of open questionnaires was developed specifically to reveal elementary school students' perceptions of the NOS, and its validity and effectiveness were investigated. To develop a NOS instrument for elementary school students, problems that may occur when applying the existing NOS instruments to elementary school students were analyzed and based on this, the development direction of the NOS instrument was established. In addition, after selecting seven NOS types suitable for the level of elementary school students, the preliminary instrument was produced by modifying and supplementing the items in the existing instruments for each type or by developing new items. Finally, the NOS instrument consisting of eight questions was developed by adding one question asking for a comprehensive understanding of science to seven questions related to each type of NOS after a content validity test of the science education expert group. To verify the practical effect of the developed instrument, pre- and post-tests were conducted on 50 students in two classes of sixth grade at two elementary schools in Seoul: 'existing instrument → development instrument' in one class, and 'development instrument → existing instrument' in the other class. The collected data were then compared and evaluated through summary content analysis and analyzed by executing the Wilcoxon signed-rank test. As a result of comparing and analyzing students' responses to the existing NOS instrument and the developed NOS instrument, students' perspectives on the NOS were more diverse when using the developed instrument, and the level of error in the response caused by misinterpreting the intention of the question was reduced. In addition, when using the developed instrument, the responses of the majority of students at a statistically significant level changed more specifically. In this study, the implications for the development of NOS instruments suitable for elementary school students were discussed based on these results.

  • 이 연구는 스마트교육환경에서의 교육용 앱을 평가하기 위한 신뢰롭고 타당한 도구를 개발하는데 있다. 기존 선행연구에 기초해서 교육용 앱의 평가를 위한 평가모형을 도출했으며, 이 모형은 4개의 평가영역(교수 학습측면, 화면디자인측면, 기술측면, 경제 윤리측면)과 13개 평가요소들로 구성되었다. 이 잠재모형의 통계적 타당성 검증을 위한 자료수집을 하고자, 경기도 소재 중학교 1곳과 고등학교 2곳의 학생 156명을 대상으로 교육용 앱을 평가하는데 있어서 각 평가문항이 갖는 중요도를 평가하였다. 수집된 자료를 탐색적 요인분석한 결과, 교육용 앱을 평가하는 영역으로 교수 학습(흥미성 자기주도성 실용성, 인지발달성), 화면디자인(디자인의 적합성, 어휘의 정확성), 기술(호환성, 안정성), 경제 윤리(경제성, 윤리성) 등 4개 영역이 제안되었다. 또한 문항내적일관성을 확인하고자 신뢰도 분석한 결과, 각 평가영역 별 Cronbach ${\alpha}$는 .88, .85, .82, .80으로 모두 적합한 수준을 보였다. 따라서, 이 연구를 통해 도출된 교육용 앱 평가도구는 통계적으로나 타당성과 신뢰성 측면에서 의미 있는 것으로 판단할 수 있다.

Survey of Prototyping Tools for Interactive Product Design (인터랙티브 제품 디자인을 위한 프로토타이핑 도구 조사)

  • The development of digital technologies transforms the design targets, characteristics of the targets and the role of designers. The paper highlights the role of prototyping in the interactive digital product design process and presents the survey and analysis of prototyping tools that can be used by designers in designing such products. From the review of tools in design related fields. the classification framework for the tools were presented. The framework has the criteria of the fidelity of prototypes, the stage when the prototyping is used, and design targets. Based on the analysis, the implications for using the tools are suggested. They includes that prototyping is important in the concept stage for designers and different tools and methods are to be applied according to design targets and objectives. Prototyping tools need to support exploring design concepts without being constrained by implementation technologies The collaboration with other professionals can also help effective prototyping. Existing tools familiar to designers can be effective platforms for the new design problems. The results can be guidlines with which designers choose more appropriate prototyping tools when they face new design problems. It also make practical contribution in improving design efficiency and design education for interactive product design projects.

A Pilot Investigation for usage Problems, Improvement Needs and Current Status of Upper Extremity Rehabilitation Equipment using SNS (SNS를 이용한 상지 재활도구 보유현황과 사용 문제점 및 개선을 위한 예비연구)

  • The aim of this pilot survey was to investigate the presence status, usage problems, and improvement needs of the upper extremity rehabilitation equipment(: UERE) in the department of occupational therapy(: OT) of hospital setting in Korea. The authors received a questionnaires of clinicians working in a department of OT hospital setting through a social network service. Responses of 72 were analyzed in the first questionnaire, and 47 were analyzed in the second questionnaire. In the first questionnaire, the presence status of 16 UERE was confirmed to be 29.2~97.2%, and the usage experience of 9 UERE in the second questionnaire was 36.2~97.9%. In the second questionnaire, UERE's usage problems were reported discomfort in 15(31.9%) of 47 therapists, and improvement needs were 23(49%). The usage problems of the 9 UERE questioned by open-ended questionnaire were uninteresting, easily damaged, level unadjustable, direction unadjustable, and inconvenient installation. The improvement needs were classified into digitization, durability, level adjustable, adjustable function, convenience. The present pilot survey identified the presence status and usage experience of UERE in the department of OT and could be used as a basis for the development of closed-ended questionnaire on usage problems and improvement needs of UERE.
