A Study on the Evaluation Standards and Tools of the Performance of School Librarians in the United States (미국의 사서교사 전문성 평가기준과 도구에 관한 연구)

  • This study is to examine the basic structure of the professional development of school librarians and to analyze the national evaluation standards, and the states' evaluation tools and self-assessment tool currently used in the United States. The result is as follows: the structure of the school librarians' professional development processes, such as curriculum, certificate, and evaluation, have been affected by the national school library standards published by AASL. NBPTS's Library Media Standards and AASL's Learning4Life evaluation system are proposed as the representative national standards. Many states have developed their standards and tools to evaluate school librarians' performance, these standards are related to the national standards. AASL published A 21st-Century Approach to School Librarian Evaluation for school librarians' self-assessment in 2012, this workbook shows a specific way of developing their expertise.

  • The successful execution of shield tunnelling depends on the cutting ability of cutter. So the selection of shape, size and material of cutter according to geology condition is important work. Since shield tunnelling method was first invented in 1881, the cutting tool for rock has been developed owing to various experiments and researches, the study for soil, however, is insufficient. This paper introduces the shield tunnelling that will be carried out on weathered rock section (920m) of Seoul Subway Line 7 Extension C703. The shape and the material of cutter are discussed required for execution without replacement of cutter tool as well as for advance of excavation efficiency. In addition the estimation method of cutter abrasion in case of excavation on weathered soil is proposed and verified. Specially, the coefficient of abrasion for different soil and cutter is proposed by means of investigation into construction example of foreign country.

  • Research and development projects, in the past decade, has shown that object-oriented(OO) technology could importantly contribute in productivity and reusability improvement. There are various research areas related to OO technology. Two of major research fields in this areas are concerned in issues for CASE tools and component-based technologies. This paper discusses an example of applying component-based technology to a CASE tool. This paper proposes the research experience gained while we have incrementally developing OODesigner, an OO CASE tool, with compound document support functionality based on COM/OLE technology. As OODesigner with OLE container functionality has interoperability with other application programs of Windows system which can be run as a OLE server, it can provide more powerful documentation environment than other CASE tools. OODesigner can be used not only to design UML diagrams, but also to make documentation cooperatively with various kinds of OLE- enabled software like Recoder and Excel. Therefore we can conduct powerful and consistent documentation with the tool.

  • The development of personal computers and the Internet led to changes of instructor-student and student-student relationships in design education. New resources of design education with proper materials and tools have to be offered for teaching and learning. The purpose of this research is to develop Basic Graphic Tools(BGTs) on screen that help students to practice the design principles, and to evaluate the BGTs' usability to enhance the credibility of extra tools for online design learning. The BGTs has to be developed to minimize the gap between the online and traditional classroom settings and to maximize the diverse advantage of lecture content driven from technology. Students were given certain design requirements to explore BGTs and a learning guide/performance test after the lecture to evaluate the tools. The test was performed under the e-learning program serviced by C college. This research has presented some encouraging results and raises questions toward future work: how do BGTs impact the feasibility of an online design lecture.

A Predictive Model of Instrumental Activities of Daily Living in Community-dwelling Elderly Based on ICF Model (ICF 모델에 근거한 재가노인의 도구적 일상생활수행능력 구조 모형)

  • This study was conducted to construct and test a structural equation model of instrumental activities of daily living(IADL) in community-dwelling elderly. The model was based on ICF(International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health) model. The participants were 260 elderly who were more than 65 years old. Physical and psychological function, visual-motor integration and social activities had direct effects on IADL. That is, the better the subjective health status, the lower the depression and the less chronic illness, the better IADL. Personal factor, social support and social activities had indirect effect on IADL. This model explained 32% of the variance in IADL.

A Semi-automatic Annotation Tool based on Named Entity Dictionary (개체명 사전 기반의 반자동 말뭉치 구축 도구)

  • 개체명은 인명, 지명, 조직명 등 문서 내에서 중요한 의미를 가지므로 질의응답, 요약, 기계번역 분야에서 유용하게 사용되고 있다. 개체명 인식은 문서에서 개체명에 해당하는 단어를 찾아 개체명 범주를 부착하는 작업을 말한다. 개체명 인식 연구에는 개체명 범주가 부착된 개체명 말뭉치를 사용한다. 개체명의 범주는 연구 분야에 따라 다양하게 정의되므로 연구 분야에 적합한 개체명 말뭉치가 필요하다. 하지만 이런 말뭉치를 구축하는 일은 시간과 인력이 많이 필요하다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 개체명 사전 기반의 반자동 말뭉치 구축 도구를 제안한다. 제안하는 도구는 크게 전처리, 사용자 태깅, 후처리 단계로 나뉜다. 전처리 단계는 자동으로 개체명을 찾는 단계이다. 약 11만 개의 개체명을 기반으로 하여 트라이(trie) 구조의 개체명 사전을 구축한 후 사전을 이용하여 개체명을 자동으로 찾는다. 사용자 태깅 단계는 사용자가 수동으로 개체명을 태깅하는 단계이다. 전처리 단계에서 찾은 개체명 중 오류가 있는 개체명들은 수정하거나 삭제하고, 찾지 못한 개체명들은 사용자가 추가로 태깅하는 단계이다. 후처리 단계는 태깅한 결과로부터 사전 정보를 갱신하는 단계이다. 제안한 말뭉치 구축 도구를 이용하여 752개의 뉴스 기사에 대해 개체명을 태깅한 결과 7,620개의 개체명이 사전에 추가되었다. 제안한 도구를 사용한 결과 사용하지 않았을 때 비해 약 57.6% 정도 태깅 횟수가 감소했다.

Social Bookmarking Use in University Courses: Student Perceptions and Behaviors (대학 수업에서 소셜 북마킹의 활용: 학생 인식 및 행태를 중심으로)

  • This exploratory study describes the social bookmarking perceptions and behaviors of students in university courses. Although an emerging discussion regarding the value of social bookmarking tools exists, how users adopt tools in practice is not well known. Students were asked to utilize the bookmarking tool del.icio.us to store information relating to course projects. They were also asked to comment how they employed del.icio.us for course projects. The study analyzed student perceptions and behaviors when using social bookmarking tools for university coursework. The study noted that the use of tags, notes, and networking within these social bookmarking tools remained less active and social bookmarking services in Web 2.0 as shared collaboration, shared communities, and vertical search were less present. Utilizing social bookmarking tools to facilitate personal information management includes the activities of information use, information re-use, and mobility.

  • Achieving a certain degree of objectivity is one of main assessment priniciples to meet and self-assessment has been under-used as a formal instrument for assessing students' achievement due to lack of objectivity. Now, this research attempted to look into how students perceived self-assessment and how they engaged in the assessment process. Self-assessments and in-depth interviews with students were collected as main data sources. The results of data analysis are as follows. First, a student' perceptions of self-assessment have been observed to change over a course of a semester. Furthermore, changes in perceptions might have led students to get ownership of their learning. Conclusively, this research proposes that the research of self-assessment be accommodated into the socio-cultural context to demonstrate its desirable influence on students' learning.

A minimal pair searching tool based on dictionary (사전 기반 최소대립쌍 검색 도구)

  • The minimal pairs mean the pairs that have same phonotactics except just one sound in the sequences cause different lexical items. This paper proposes the searching tool of minimal pairs for efficiency of phonological researches with minimal pairs. We suggest a guide to develop Korean minimal pair searching programs by comparing to other programs. Proposing tool has user-friendly interface, minimizing key inputs, for linguistics who are not fluent in computer programs. And it serves the function which classifies the words in dictionary for the detailed researches. And for efficiency, it increases speed of dictionary loading by separating syllables through Unicode analysis, and optimizes dictionary structure for searching efficiency. The searching algorithm gains in speed by hashing algorithm using syllable counts. In our tool, the speed is improved more than earlier version about 5 times at converting dictionary and about 3 times at searching.

Instrumental Genesis of Computer Algebra System(CAS) in Mathematical Problem Solving among High School Students (고등학교 수학 문제해결에서 CAS의 도구발생)

  • This study was designed to gain insights into instrumental genesis process of CAS in Korean high school students and to explore its practical potentials in secondary mathematics education. Two activities, such as Concept-Centered Mathematics Activity based on CAS and Problem Solving Activities, were constructed and executed to 10th Grade seven students for twelve class hours. The finding on the students' activities are as follows : it is meaningful in mathematics education, especially in algebra education, in that the CAS based concept centered mathematics activity offers great opportunities to deal with high-qualified application problems. The problem solving activities based on the instrumented CAS may have an influence on the sequence of mathematics curriculum, e.g. the optimization problems may precede the calculus problems such as derivatives in high school. The results of this study to investigate the instrumental genesis of CAS in mathematical activities will give insights into the secondary mathematics curriculum to prepare the CAS in Korea.
