The objective of this study is to obtain the mechanical characteristics of prefoarmed lightweight foamed concrete using the polymer ham agent which has high lightness. flowability and strength. For this purpose, the prefoarmed lightweight foamed concrete which was developed to have flow value over 180mm. unit weight between 0.38t/$m^3$ and 0.64t/$m^3$, and compressive strength about 30kg/$cm^2$ was used. This paper presents extensive test data on Young's modulus. Poisson's ratio, stress-strain curve, the characteristics of strength of the foamed concrete and also presents the mechanical characteristics of the foamed concrete with different foam sizes. It is expected that this study provides an importance guide to design and manufacture lightweight foam concrete, so that it helps to expand its structural use.
Understanding the frictional properties of rock discontinuities is crucial to ensure the stability of underground structures. In particular, the frictional behavior at depth depends on the complex interaction among mechanical, hydraulic, thermal and chemical characteristics and their coupled effects. In this study, a series of shear tests were carried out in a triaxial compression chamber to investigate the shearing behavior of saw-cut granite surface and rough shear surface of synthetic rocks. The test results were analyzed using Coulomb's shear strength criterion. The frictional behavior of saw-cut granite surface showed little variation at different confining, water pressures and temperature conditions, however in case of synthetic rocks, the frictional behavior showed different trend depending on normal stress level. In addition, the variation of stiffness and dilation at different testing conditions were analyzed, and the stiffness and dilation showed little variation at different water pressures and temperature conditions.

Numerical simulations have been performed to investigate the hydrodynamic characteristics of the rudder since they play an important role in naval architecture fields. Although some values such as hydrodynamics forces can be measured easily in the towing tanks, it is difficult to obtain the detailed information of the flow fields such as pressure distribution, velocity distribution, vortex generation from experiments. In the present study, the effects of hydrodynamic coefficients and Reynolds number acting on the rudder were studied by using Computational Fluid Dynamics(CFD). Ansys fluent, one of commercial CFD solvers, solves the Navier-Stokes equations and the k-epsilon turbulence model is selected for the viscous model to solve RANS equations. At first, drag coefficients and lift coefficient for different angle of attack are obtained by using a CFD commercial code for KCS rudder. Secondly, the 2-D lift coefficients and drag coefficients are compared with 3-D coefficients at the same conditions. Thirdly, the effects of Reynolds number on the hydrodynamic forces are investigated.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the workability and various mechanical properties of heavyweight magnetite concrete and examine the reliability of the design equations specified in code provisions. The main parameters investigated were the water-to-cement ratio and substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate (granite) for magnetite. The oven-dried unit weight of concrete tested ranged between 2446 and $3426kg/m^3$. The measured mechanical properties included compressive strength development, stress-strain curve, splitting tensile strength, moduli of elasticity and rupture, and bond stress-slip relationship of concrete. Test results revealed that the initial slump of heavyweight magnetite concrete increased as the substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate increases. The substitution level of normal-weight coarse aggregate had little influence on the compressive strength and tensile resistance capacity of heavyweight concrete, while it significantly affected the modulus of elasticity and stress-strain curves of such concrete. The design equations of ACI 349-06 and CEB-FIP provisions mostly conservatively predicted the mechanical properties of heavyweight magnetite concrete, but the empirical equations for modulus of elasticity and splitting tensile strength need to be modified considering the unit weight of concrete.

In this study, oxidized graphene nanoplatelet(GO) was prepared by oxidizing graphene nanoplatelet(GNP) with nitric acid in order to solve the problem of dispersion of GNP, one of nano materials. The surface chemical composition of the prepared GO was analyzed by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) before incorporation into the epoxy paint, and the dispersibility in the solvent was confirmed. Meanwhile, GNP/Epoxy and GO/Epoxy paint were prepared by mixing GNP, GO with 0.1, 0.3, 0.5 and 1.0wt.% in epoxy paint and the mechanical properties were evaluated. As a result, GNP/Epoxy and GO/Epoxy paints showed better mechanical properties than Neat Epoxy which did not incorporate GNP, GO. Especially, when 0.3wt.% of GO was incorporated into epoxy resin, it showed higher tensile strength than Neat Epoxy. It was confirmed that acid treatment of GNP was effective in improving the mechanical properties of epoxy paint.

It is very important to experimentally evaluate concrete behavior at elevated temperature because aggregates make up approximately 80 percent of volume in concrete. In this study, an experiment to evaluate mechanical properties of normal weight and light weight concrete of 60 MPa was conducted. Based on loading level of 0, 20 and 40 percent, the tests of 28 days compressive strength, elastic modulus, thermal strain, total strain, and transient creep using ${\phi}100{\times}200mm$ cylindrical specimens at elevated temperature were performed. Then, the results were compared with CEB (Committes Euro-international du Beton) model code. The results showed that thermal strain of light weight concrete was smaller than normal weight concrete. Also, the results showed that compressive strength of light concrete at $700^{\circ}C$ was higher than normal weight concrete and CEB code, similar to that obtained at ambient temperature. Transient creep developed from loading at a critical temperature of $500^{\circ}C$ caused the concrete strains to change from expansion to compression. The transient creep test result showed that internal force was high when the ratio of shrinkage between concrete and aggregate was more influential than thermal expansion.
