  • This study is to evaluate the accuracy of a human papillomavirus(HVP) vaccination behavior model based on the health belief model. The subjects were 285 mothers of adolescent daughters and the data was collected from June to September, 2017. The data were analyzed using SPSS, AMOS programs. The results, perceived benefits had effects on the vaccinating behavior by completely mediating the intention while the perceived barriers had effects on the vaccinating behavior by partially mediating the intention. The vaccination intention was shown to be an important variable for predicting of vaccination behaviors while the perceived barrier was revealed to be the most influential factor for vaccination behaviors. These results could contribute to raise the understanding about HVP vaccination processes in the mothers of adolescent daughters and to develop strategies to enhance the HVP vaccination rate.

  • This study examined the reproductive health-related experiences of North Korean women defectors and their sexual knowledge, sexual attitudes, and reproductive health promotion behavior. Convergent parallel mixed methods were used. From April to July 2020, 8 North Korean women defectors in Seoul metropolitan area were recruited by snowball sampling. In addition, 175 participants in the Seoul metropolitan area, Chungcheong, and Gyeongsang Province were recruited. Content analysis was conducted to analyze qualitative data, and the SPSS 23.0 program was used. Three themes were derived: scared of sex due to ignorance', 'the embarrassing and annoying sex only for duty', and had to manage myself for sex under the limited situation.'. The subject's sexual knowledge was higher in the older and married groups, and the sexual attitude was more liberal in the younger group. Reproductive health promotion behavior was more active in the high economic level, and sexual knowledge and sexual attitude showed a positive correlation. Therefore, it is necessary to provide support systems and resources from the community to encourage reproductive health promotion activities. In addition, in terms of humanitarian aid, prioritization of the reproductive health of North Korean women is required.

  • Background: Strategically improving health-related quality of life (HRQOL) should be discussed among overweight middle-aged women who are vulnerable to low HRQOL. We examined firstly if overweight middle-aged women would have significantly lower levels of HRQOL and health-promoting behaviors than normal-weight middle-aged women, and to examine secondly if health-promoting behaviors would be significantly associated with generic and obesity-specific HRQOLs within the overweight middle-aged women. Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional, comparative study. Participants were 119 women aged 30-49 years who were recruited from a community in Seoul, South Korea; 63 women for the overweight group who were recruited from a baseline sample of the Community-Based Heart and Weight Management Trial, while 56 for the normal-weight group who were recruited separetely. Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile II (HPLP II), World Health Organization Quality of Life-brief version (WHOQOL-BREF) of a generic HRQOL measure, and Impact of Weight on Quality of Life-Lite (IWQOL-Lite) of an obesity-specific HRQOL measure were used. Results: Compared to the normal-weight group, the overweight group showed significantly lower scores of total WHOQOL-BREF as well as some HPLP II subscales including stress management (P=0.029). Among the HPLP II subscales, stress management was significantly and positively associated with total WHOQOL-BREF (${\beta}=1.58$, P=0.003) and self-esteem IWQOL-Lite (${\beta}=11.58$, P=0.034) among the overweight group. Conclusions: Among middle-aged overweight women, low levels of health-promoting behavior for stress management were shown, which should be strategically increased for improving their generic and obesity-specific HRQOLs.

  • This study contributes to understanding women's labor market behavior by focusing on a particular set of labor force transitions - labor force withdrawal and entry during the period surrounding the first birth of a child. In particular, this study provides a dynamic analyses, using longitudinal data and event history analysis, to conceptualize labor force behaviors in a straightforward way. The main research question addresses which factors increase or decrease the hazard rates of leaving and entering the labor market. This study used piecewise Gompertz model, following the guide of the non-parametric analysis on the hazard rates, which allowed relatively detailed description on the distribution of timing of leave and entry to the labor market as parameters of interest. The results show that preferences and structural variables, as well as economic considerations, are very important factors to explain the labor market behavior of women in the period surrounding childbirth.

  • The aim of this study is to compare the differences in health promotion behaviors by the use of complementary alternative therapy(CAT) in elderly women with osteoarthritis. A total of 621 elderly women with osteoarthritis from public health centers and their branches at a city of C state were enrolled. This study analyzed the frequency and percentage of complementary alternative therapy utilization; a Chi-square test was used for utilization analysis according to subjects' general characteristics and disease features. Degree of health promotion behaviors according to CAT utilization was analyzed by a t-test and ANOVA. The study found that the CAT utilization rate for the total of 621 people was 61.7 %. For health promotion behaviors according to CAT utilization, statistically significant differences were found in exercise (p<0.001), health responsibility (p<0.001) and self-realization (p=0.016) from the domains. This study demonstrated the differences of health promotion behaviors based on CAT utilization. Due to the results of this study it is notable to mention that counseling, instruction for CAT utilization, and strategy development for health promotion are necessary for elderly women with osteoarthritis.
