  • In order to find that how differences of delay time accuracy of ms,ds detonator applied to tunnel contour influences overbreak in tunnel blasting, it was analyzed using common program(Itasca CG, 2004)which was developed by individual factor method called "Partical Flow Code 2D(PFC2D). In result, overbreak and damage of country rock were reduced when the delay was more accurate than the inaccurate.

  • When an underground limestone mine selects room-and-pillar mining method, in which the stability of mine openings is maintained by leaving safety pillars, the stability of safety pillars is always incompatible with their productivity. Therefore, the engineering decision for stability and productivity is essential. In this study, a progress of excavation faces by conventional blasting pattern has been examined in field for investigating over-break and stereo-photogrammetry method has been applied to this field measurement for improvement of accuracy. Also this result has been reflected instantly to composite blasting pattern by feedback, for minimizing overbreak. Field tests showed the relevant results that $3.5m^2$ in over-break out of $70m^2$ in total excavation face has been decreased, that is 5% of reduction rate in maximum.

  • Alignments of railways recently constructed in Korea have been straightened due to the advent of high-speed rail, which means increasing the numbers of tunnels and bridges. Overbreak during tunnel construction may be unavoidable, and is very influential on overall stability. Over-excavation in tunneling is also one of the most important factors in construction costs. Overbreak problems around crown areas have decreased with improvements of excavation methods, but overbreak problems around bottom areas have not decreased because those areas are not very influential on tunnel stability compared with crown areas. The filling costs of 10 cm thickness of overbreak at the bottom of a tunnel are covered under construction costs by Korea Railway Authority regulations, but filling costs for more than the covered thickness are considered losses of construction cost. The filling material for overbreak bottoms of tunnels should be concrete, but concrete and mixed granular materials with fractured rock are also used for some sites. Tunnels in which granular materials with fractured rock are used may have a discontinuous section under the concrete slab track. The discontinuous section influences the propagation of waves generated from train operation. When the bottom of a tunnel is filled with only concrete material, the bottom of the tunnel can be considered as a continuous section, in which the waves generated from a train may propagate without reflection waves. However, a discontinuous section filled with mixed granular materials may reflect waves, which can cause resonance of vibration. The filled materials and vibration propagation characteristics are studied in this research. Tunnel bottom filling materials that have ratios of granular material to concrete of 5.0 %, 11.5 %, and 18.0 % are investigated. Samples were made and tested to determine their material properties. Static numerical analyses were performed using the FEM program under train operation load; test results were found to satisfy the stability requirements. However, dynamic analysis results show that some mixed ratios may generate resonance vibration from train operation at certain speeds.

  • It proceed the trial test by applying blasting system with combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator(Supex Blasting Method) for the purpose of preventing the over-break as well as controling the blasting vibration and noisy at the site of Boseong-Imseongri railroad section ${\bigcirc}{\bigcirc}$. As a result of that, the blasting vibration and noisy was measured within the allowable standard of vibration. In conclusion, the combination of electronic detonator and non-electric detonator can not only reduce come construction cost, level of vibration and noisy but also get the prevention effect for Public resentment and minimize the rock-damage through over break control.

  • Blasting, using shock and dynamic energy of explosive, is very effective tunnel excavation method. But it had serious problem which is the blast vibration and over-break. In recent study, pre-cracked excavation method using notch hole reduced blast vibration and over-break in tunnel, so we performed study about developing notch bit system for making notch hole. In order to make notch hole effectively we had perform drilling experiments changing length and height of notch and in order to improve speed and precision of drilling we had developed notch bit system which consists of drilling bit, notch bit, adapter and notch guide.

  • This study describes the results of blasting overbreak analysis using the stereo photogrammetry method in an underground mine. For comparing its quantitative measurements, LIDAR system was applied to the test site and blasting overbreak was analyzed for 4 test blasting operations. The difference in values obtained from the two methods showed only 0.81% in volume and 1.05% in area, respectively, therefore authors verify the field applicability of stereo photogrammetry method on underground mine. The volumes of overbreak measured from 4 test blastings were $29.84m^3$, $22.45m^3$, $14.54m^3$ and $5.46m^3$, respectively, in photogrammetry analysis on excavation surface, and it was shown that the volume of overbreak decreases with blasting sequence. From these measurements, it is concluded that the stereo photogrammetry method can describe the underground excavation surface effectively and the its quantitative data can be used for analysis of volume, area and overbreak of excavation zone.
