A Study of NormalMap Texture in Game Engine (게임엔진에서의 노말맵 텍스쳐에 대한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 게임 엔진에서 사용되는 노말맵(Normal Map)의 원리와 그 응용 방식에 대해 연구하였다. 노말맵은 게임에서 하이 폴리곤 모델링에 적용되는 조명 적용 데이터를 로우 폴리곤에 적용할 수 있는 기술로, 하이 폴리곤 모델링의 벡터 방향 데이터를 텍스쳐로 저장하여 로우 폴리곤에 적용해서 벡터 방향을 텍셀단위로 조정할 수 있게 한다. 여기에서는 게임에서의 노말맵 저장 방식과 연산 방식에 대해 소개하고 이를 응용하여 최적화 시킬 수 있는 방법에 대해 연구한다.

  • This paper includes a development of a starting time prediction model for a derivative engine. For this derivative engine design, a new map expansion method, Modified Pump Scaling Law(MPS), has been applied and expand the maps to sub-idle range. From loss characteristics of the reference engine, loss models for the derivative engine have been developed considering different pressure, temperature, and engine configurations. Starting time predictions of the derivative engine shows preferable results comparing test results.

  • Reliable starting capability of a gas turbine engine calls the engine industry's attention recently. So far the gas turbine engine performance researches have focused on the range between idle to Max rpm, but recent attention on the starting has brought interests in the range of "Sub-dile". As component characteristic maps are essential for the starting research, various kinds of studies have been doing and proposing ways to expand the existing maps toward sub-idle range. In this paper, previous studies were discussed and a new method suggested and validated.

  • The gas turbine engine performance relies greatly on its component performance characteristics. Generally, engine manufacturers do not provide engine purchasers the component performance characteristics which can be obtained by lots of experimental tests at various operating conditions and big amount of expenses. In previous works the component maps have mostly been generated by scaling from a similar component map. However this scaling method has large error at off design points, specially in high altitude operation. Therefore this work proposes an inverse modeling method that can generate components maps of PT6A-67A turboprop engine using performance data provided by the engine manufacturer. In addition, evaluation can be made through comparison between performance analysis results using the performance simulation program including the generated compressor map and performance data.

  • 3D 게임 엔진 중 그래픽 엔진이 차지하는 중요도는 다른 엔진들보다 월등히 높다. 그래픽 엔진에는 여러 가지 필요한 요소들이 들어가는데, 지형을 만들어내는 것 역시 캐릭터를 제작하는 것만큼이나 중요한 역할을 한다. 3D 지형이 좀더 현실과 흡사하기 위해서는 실세계와 유사한 가상의 세계를 만들어야 한다. 3D 지형을 만드는 방법은 여러 가지가 있으나 자신이 원하는 지형을 직접 만들어서 이를 3차원으로 바꿔서 게임 엔진에서 사용할 수 있고, 또한 게임 엔진 내부에서의 최적화를 위해서는 가장 기본적으로 쓰이는 그레이 스케일 이미지를 사용한 높이 맵으로 지형을 생성하는 게 유리하기 때문에 본 논문에서는 그레이 스케일 이미지를 이용한 지형생성기를 개발한다.

Awarematics/WMSServer is a open-source web map service server developed Kunsan National University and National Information Agency(NIA). Recently in GIS areas, It tends to increase System Construction which developed by using Open-source GIS, but we have not developed yet ourself-made Open-source GIS Engine in Korea. This paper describes function, design, and implementation of Awarematics/WMSServer serviced and developed by NIA and Kunsan Natioanl University.

  • Recently, we started a project development of the digital expert system for the product design supporting in manufacturing industry. This digital expert system is used to the engineers in manufacturing industry for the process control, production management and system management. In this paper, we develop the ontology based inference engine shell for building of expert system. This expert system shell included a various functions which of Korean language supporting, graphical ontology map modeling interface, fuzzy rule definition function and etc. And, we introduce the knowledge representation method for the ontology map building and ontology based fuzzy inferencing method.

  • 맵에디터(map editor)란 게임에 사용될 게임환경을 저작하는 도구로서 게임의 무대가 되는 지형을 생성하고, 게임에 사용되는 다양한 건물이나 주인공, 몬스터 등을 객체를 배치하는 등 게임 환경의 변화를 눈으로 보면서 손쉽게 저작할 수 있도록 한다. 뿐만 아니라 게임 객체 혹은 지형의 여러가지 속성을 설정해 게임에 그 값을 반영토록 하는 기능을 제공하기도 한다.

  • A TCS slip control system improves acceleration capability and steerability on slippery roads through engine torgue and/or brake torque control. This research mainly deals with the engine control algorithm via the adjustment of the engine throttle angle. The following new control strategy is proposed and investigated ; the TCS slip controller whose input is the difference between the desired driving wheel speed corresponding to the optimum slip ratio and the actual speed yields the target engine torque and then estimates the throttle angle based on the engine performance curve. Various simulation and hardware-in-the-loop simulation have been carried out. The results show the proposed strategy may compensate for the inherent nonlinearity between variation of the throttle angle and variation of the engine torque and produce better performance than the previous strategies without the engine map, especially in the high speed region.
