  • In shipbuilding and marine industry, engineering and design software solutions have upgraded from the original 2D schematic data based CAD system to a modern 3D drawing-based system. Due to the fact that the massive amount of data usage in real time and data volumes of various engineering models including graphic data have increased, several problems such as lack of server resources and improper handling of 3D drawings have been raised. Besides, increasing the number of session connections per server can cause deterioration of server performance. Recently, increasing the yard's sophisticated design capabilities highlighted the need to develop engineering and design system which would not only overcome the network performance issues, but would provide efficient collaborative design environment. This paper presents an overview of the framework for collaborative engineering design system based on the virtual application (Citrix XenApp 6.5)and acceleration hardware technology of 3D graphics (NVIDIA GRID K2 solution).

Techniques of Optimizing the Launching Nose under Conditions of Minimizing the Launching Bending Moment (압출가설시 발생하는 휨모멘트의 최소화 조건을 통한 압출노즈의 최적설계)

  • The behavior of nose-deck system during launch was examined by three dimensionless launching parameters, such as the relative flexural stiffness, the relative nose weight, and the relative nose length. The techniques of optimizing the launching nose were illustrated and equations of relationship between relative nose weight and relative nose length were derived under minimum conditions of the launching negative and positive moment. Equations of maximum positive and negative moment were suggested under the conditions. The optimum design method of the launching nose was proposed in launched continuous girder bridges. It was found that the ideal launching nose was to design that with the relative nose weight of 0.167 and the relative nose length of 0.836 to minimize absolute values of the positive and negative moment during launch.

  • In order to reduce a product life cycle and to improve productivity, it is required to automate the design/analysis processes. In general, since the design/analysis processes need a lot of time and resources, the various engineering resources should be integrated and utilized effectively in the distributed environments. KIMM (Korea Institute of Machinery and Materials) constructed the SOA-based e-Engineering framework to automate the execution of the design/analysis processes and to integrate the engineering resources in the distributed environments. This paper presents the concepts and the structures of the e-Engineering framework. Also it classifies the exceptional cases that will be able to occur in the e-Engineering framework and suggests the recovery techniques from the exceptional cases with viewpoints of the engineering process and the task, respectively.

  • 고객상담센터 또는 Call Center(콜센터)는 기업조직상 고객과의 최일선 접점에 위치하여 고객만족 경영의 중추적인 역할인 대고객 communication이라는 막중한 임무를 담당함에도 불구하고, 우리나라학계 뿐만이 아니라, 미국의 학계에서도 연구가 빈약한 분야이기 때문에 연구의 필요성이 강력히 요청되는 분야이다. 2) 본 연구는 지금까지 고객의 요구에 대응하기 위하여 임기응변적으로 설계 및 운영하여 온 우리나라의 고객상담센터, 특히, 전화고객상담 센터(Call Center)의 효율향상을 위한 경영개선 노력을 위한 “리엔지니어링 전략”에 관한 탐색적 연구다. 연구방법으로서는 문헌(주로 미국) 및 미국의 call center 실태조사 자료를 우리나라의 자료와 비교하여 리엔지니어링의 대상을 탐색하는, 소위 선진지역과의 벤치마킹(benchmarking) 방법을 택하였다. 구체적으로, 본 연구는 콜센터의 효율적인 운영을 위한 주요 구성요소인 인적요소 및 기술적 요소 등을 연구한다. 본 연구는 콜센터 리엔지니어링분야의 문헌을 체계적으로 고찰하였으며 특히 미국의 콜센터와 직접적인(head-to-head) 비교를 처음 시도했다는 점에서 이 분야의 향후 연구에 공헌을 할 수 있다고 믿는다. 또한 이연구의 결과는 우리나라 콜센터 관련 기업실무자들이 리엔지니어링을 추진하는데 중요한 참고자료로 이용할 수 있으며 특히, 관련 software 및 hardware의 설계와 개발에 중요한 방향제시를 할 수 있으리라 기대한다.
