A Study on Thermal Management of Stack Supply Gas of Solid Oxide Fuel Cell System for Ship Applications (선박 전원용 고체산화물형 연료전지(SOFC) 시스템의 스택 공급 가스의 열관리 문제에 관한 연구)

  • In this research, the fuel cell system model capable of generating codes in real time was developed to construct of a HIL (Hardware-In-the-Loop) for a SOFC-powered ship. Moreover, the effects of the distribution of the exhaust gas flow rates in a stack, the flow rates of fuels and temperature of air supplied on the temperature characteristics of fuels supplied to the cathode and the anode, the output power of the stack and system efficiency are examined to minimize the temperature difference between fuels supplied to the stack used in a 500kW SOFC system using methane as a fuel. As a result, the temperatures of fuels supplied to the cathode and the anode maintain at 830K when the opening factor of three-way valve located at outlet of turbine is 0.839. Also the process for optimization of methane flow rate considering the fuel cell stack and system efficiency is required to increase the temperatures of fuels supplied to the stack.

Scenario Based Operating Satellite Payload Data Analysis Method to Secure Highly Reliable EGSE Early (고신뢰성 지상시험지원장비 조기 확보를 위한 시나리오 기반 위성 탑재체 패킷 분석방법)

  • Since satellites, including payloads, are limited in how they can respond to problems after launch, the functionality of the satellite should be verified sufficiently by EGSE (Electrical Ground Support Equipment). In addition, considering the trend that the development period of the satellite is shortening and the development of the EGSE must precede the development of the engineering model of electronic equipment, early securing of EGSE is necessary to comply with the development schedule of the entire satellite. In this paper, we propose a method for early securing highly reliable EGSE by devising a scenario based operating payload packet analyzer, which is a part of the EGSE, through functional modularization and external parameterization, and show the result of applying the implemented payload packet analyzer to real satellite program.

An Analytical Study on Characteristics of a Diesel Injection System (디젤분사계의 특성에 관한 해석적 연구)

  • It is well-known that the fuel injection system if a diesel engine has taken a more important place in understanding of diesel combustion process with combustion chamber. But a diesel fuel injection system has an assembly of many complex and intricate problems such as the desired rate of injection, secondary injection and injection pump etc., in addition to the atomization for ignition and combustion, the penetration and diestribution for proper utilization of air. The analysis is carried out by simplifing and modeling the injection phenomena and dividing into three parts comprising of fuel injection pump, high pressure pipe and fuel injection nozzle. The purpose of this paper is to describe an analytical simulation of the injection system and to speed up the work of developing injection systems for new engines. The effects of important injection parameters as predicted by the present model are found to be in good agreement with experiment. It can be seen that there is an optimal pipe diameter for maximum quantity injected.

A Study on Wind Load Variation Characteristics of Wind Turbine Gearbox (풍력발전기 증속기에 전달되는 풍하중 변동특성 연구)

  • In this study, normal wind load and blast wind load are modeled mathematical. And the periodical torque and bending moments transmitted to the main shaft of wind turbine are investigated. A normal wind model assumed, of which the wind velocity is increased according to the height from ground. The average values and the harmonic terms of the transmitted moments are studied on the wind direction of range $-45^{\circ}{\sim}45^{\circ}$ and the bending moment characteristics are examined, which is regarded as the main source of the misalignment of gear train. In normal wind load case, excitation frequency is 3X (X : Rotor speed). When the wind direction is $+22.5^{\circ}$, the horizontal axis of bending moment occur the 50% of main torque. This result leads to edge contact of gear teeth by shaft elastic deformation. In blast wind load case, excitation frequency are 3X,6X,9X. Additional, in the (+) direction of wind load, relative harmonic percentage is increase.

  • The freeze desalination cycle with seawater heat pump system is simulated and designed for the basic data for the design of freeze desalination system. The basic model of seawater heat pump system is refrigeration cycle and indirect freeze desalination method is used for seawater desalination. The cycle performance of seawater heat pump such as COP, compressor work, condensing capacity was analyzed and the desalination performance such as fresh water productivity and energy per unit fresh water productivity was compared with respect to the seawater temperature of condenser inlet and ice ratio in the evaporator. The compressor work and condensing capacity decreased with respect to the decrease of seawater inlet temperature. The energy per unit fresh water productivity in case of $8^{\circ}C$ seawater inlet temperature showed 28.9% lower than that of $20^{\circ}C$.

  • In order to design a wave energy generate system, a 6-Degree of freedom motion analysis technique was applied to the three-Dimensional CFD analysis on two floating body and the behavior was interpreted according to the nature of the incoming wave. The waves are generated by the same type of wave in the model of tank using the piston type, but due to the shallow water that is generated from the bottom of the wave energy is attenuated by Ekman boundary layer. According to the wavelength of waves generated by the result of evaluating the behavior of floating body, it is concluded that 0.3m is the maximum amplitude of wavelength of 5m, and 0.15m is the minimum amplitude of wavelength of 1m. 1.06m is the maximum distance between the two floaters of wavelength of 6m.

  • In this study, we have established the design techniques, with which we can design and evaluate performance of blades on a horizontal axis current turbine, by application of blade element momentum theory considering the blade tip's loss model, and finally developed the domestic software(MCT-blade V2.0). We have designed and evaluated performance of blades for the 2MW class by using of the software, and confirmed its calculation results from BEMT by comparing those results from commercial code of ANSYS FLUENT. In a state of rated velocity 2.5m/s, the mechanical power from BEMT is calculated as 2,121kW, which is considered to satisfy the electrical power, but the value from CFD is calculated as 1,901kW, which is considered a little deficient for the target output.

Analysis of 1MW Closed OTEC Cycle Using Thermal Effluent and Waste Heat (발전소 온배수를 이용한 1MW급 폐쇄형 해양온도차발전 성능해석)

  • The thermodynamic performance of closed ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) cycle with 1 MW gross power was evaluated to obtain the basic data for the optimal design of OTEC. The basic thermodynamic model for OTEC is Rankine cycle and the thermal effluent from power plant was used for the heat source of evaporator. The cycle performance such as efficiency, heat exchanger capacity, etc. was analyzed on the temperature variation of thermal effluent. The saturated pressure of evaporator increased with respect to the increase of thermal effluent temperature, so the cycle efficiency increased and necessary capacity of evaporator and condenser decreased under 1 MW gross power. As the thermal effluent temperature increases about $15^{\circ}C$, the cycle efficiency increased approximately 44%. So, it was revealed that thermal effluent from power plant is important heat source for OTEC plant. Also, if there is an available waste heat, it can be transferred heat to the working fluid form the evaporator through heat exchanger and cycle efficiency will be increased.

  • The construction industry has mainly relied on financially focused performance measurements, and studies on performance measurement systems (PMSs) have been carried out at the project level. However, recently, the demand for performance evaluation and management at the company level has increased. A few previous efforts have aimed to develop a conceptual model for company performance, but there have been few follow-up studies. From this perspective, we have developed a web-based performance and informatization measurement system to measure and compare the business performance and the level of informatization of construction companies. Then, we carried out a performance evaluation and system test using the data set of 78 Korean construction companies and identified practical issues for the implementation of our PMS.

A multi carrier selectable routing scheme by normalized transmission characteristics (MCS-NTC) at marine multi-carrier MANETs (다중캐리어 해상 MANET에서 여러 캐리어 선택가능하고 정규화된 전송특성에 의한 경로배정방식)

  • Marine data communications still look for a novel data communication system at sea because of the restriction of bandwidths and costs of current carriers. In order to make the most efficient use of the broadband land carriers at sea, this paper proposes a routing scheme (MCS-NTC) at a marine MANET model. The routing scheme optimizes the route by choosing optimal nodes and carriers among the traditional and land carriers based on normalized transmission characteristics of applications and carriers. The performance is compared with the max-win method (OMH-MW) scheme considering the specific values of transmission characteristics. The result shows that our scheme derives more efficient routes than the previous one in terms of the transmission characteristics such as bandwidth, cost, delay, the number of hops and carriers.
