Quantization Noise Reduction in Block-Coded Video Using the Characteristics of Block Boundary Area (블록 경계 영역 특성을 이용한 블록 부호화 영상에서의 양자화 잡음 제거)

  • In this paper, we propose a novel post-filtering algorithm with low computational complexity that improves the visual quality of decoded images using block boundary classification and simple adaptive filter (SAF). At first, each block boundary is classified into smooth or complex sub-region. And for smooth-smooth sub-regions, the existence of blocking artifacts is determined using blocky strength. And simple adaptive filtering is processed in each block boundary area. The proposed method processes adaptively, that is, a nonlinear 1-D 8-tap filter is applied to smooth-smooth sub-regions with blocking artifacts, and for smooth-complex or complex-smooth sub-regions, a nonlinear 1-D variant filter is applied to block boundary pixels so as to reduce the blocking and ringing artifacts. And for complex-complex sub-regions, a nonlinear 1-D 2-tap filter is only applied to adjust two block boundary pixels so as to preserve the image details. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm produced better results than those of conventional algorithms both subjective and objective viewpoints.

Wearing Degree and Uneven Wearing Detection of Tires Using Horizontal Edge Information (가로 방향 에지를 이용한 자동차 타이어의 마모도 측정 및 편마모 여부 검출)

  • Wearing degree and uneven wearing detection algorithm using horizontal edge information is proposed in this paper. The noise in the input image is removed by bilateral filter, and then edges are extracted from the filtered image by using the proposed mask. As the tire is worn, grooves of tire shoulder or sipes are changed more than the vertical grooves. Therefore the edges from grooves of tire shoulder or sipes have more information about the tire wearing than the edges from vertical grooves. Proposed mask that is reflected this feature is used to extract the horizontal edges. After edge extraction, the edge image is represented in two-level system. The edge pixels of the binarization image are used to decide the wearing degree and uneven wearing. This proposed method can be used easily without any other equipments. The proposed method is conducted with a real vehicle, and the experimental results show the good performance of the proposed method in detecting wearing degree and uneven wearing.

A Facial Region Detection using the Skin Color and Edge Information at YCbCr (YCbCr 색공간에서 피부색과 윤곽선 정보를 이용한 얼굴 영역 검출)

  • This thesis proposes a face detection algorithm using the color and edge informations in color image. The proposed algorithm segments skin color by Cb and Cr in YCbCr coordinates. Then face candidate regions are made after morphological filtering and labeling. For the regions, the Sobel vortical operation and horizontal projection are performed in the Y luminance components. The peak value indicates the eye location. Similarly, the chin location is detected by the Sobel horizontal operation and horizontal projection. The computer simulation shows that the proposed method gains similar detection rates of previous method and prevent facial region from including neck by detection of chin.

  • With the advance of the environment where we can get various multimedia contents, adult image detection has become an important issue these days. In this paper, we suggest a method of robustly detecting navel areas from input images which can be usefully utilized in adult image detection. The suggested algorithm first extracts face regions and extracts candidate nipple areas using a nipple map. Our method then selects only actual nipple regions by filtering candidate areas with geometrical features and an average nipple filter. Subsequently, the method robustly detects navel areas by using the structural relation with the nipple areas and applying edge and saturation images. Experimental results show that the suggested algorithm can effectively detect navel regions.

  • 본 논문에서는 차량 내에 설치된 카메라를 이용하여 전방차량을 인식하는 FCW(Forward Collision Warning)시스템에서 주행 중인 전방 차량을 추적하는 알고리즘을 제안한다. 전방 차량의 후보 영역을 검출하기 위해 Haar-Adaboost를 이용하였으며 검색된 차량 후보 영역 내의 에지 정보를 이용하여 차량 후보 영역을 필터링하였다. 필터링된 차량 영역은 영역기반과 Kalman 예측치를 이용하여 차량을 추적하는 방법으로 차량 검색기가 차량 영역을 검색하지 못하는 경우 Kalman 예측치를 통해 차량 후보 영역을 예측하고 예측된 차량 영역을 검증함으로써 효율적인 전방 차량 인식이 가능하였다. 본 제안 방법을 실험한 결과 이전 프레임에서 추적되던 차량 후보 영역이 현재 프레임에서 Haar-Adaboost가 차량 후보 영역을 검색하지 못하는 경우에 영역기반과 Kalman 예측치를 통하여 현재 프레임에서 전방차량을 연속적으로 추적하는 것을 확인하였다. 본 제안 방법은 영상을 이용한 FCW 시스템에 사용될 수 있을것으로 사료된다.

A Study on Image Reconstructing Algorithm in Uniformly Distributed Impulsive Noise Environment (균등 분포된 임펄스 잡음 환경에서의 영상 복원 알고리즘에 관한 연구)

  • Many researches have been processed to reconstruct corrupted an image by noise in fields of signal processing such as image recognition and compute. vision, and AWGN(additive white gaussian noise) and impulse noise are representative. Impulse noise consists of fired-valued(salt & pepper) impulse noise and random-valued impulse noise, and non-linear filters such as SM(standard median) filters are used to remove this noise. But basic SM filters still generate many errors in edge regions of an image, and in order to overcome this problem a variety of methods have been researched. In this paper, we proposed an impulse noise removal algorithm which is superior to the edge preserving capacity. At this tine, after detecting a noise by using the noise detector, we applied a noise removal algorithm based on the min-max operation and compared the capacity with existing methods through simulation.

  • 본 논문에서는 인간의 시각 특성 중 특정 물체의 거리를 지각하는 메커니즘을 실시간 처리를 위해 하드웨어로 구현하였다. 본 논문에서 구현된 시스템은 크게 스테레오 영상 입 출력부와 영상을 처리하기 위한 IP 부로 구성된다. 입 출력부는 ALTERA 사의 Excalibur을 기반으로 하여 Image Decoder, UART, SDRAM, SRAM, TFT-LCD등으로 구성된 Image Board로 스테레오 영상을 받아 처리할 수 있게 설계하였다. IP부분은 Image Decoder 내부 레지스터를 설정하기 위한 I2C 버스 IP, 두 개의 Image Decoder를 통해 들어오는 스테레오 영상 입력 IP, 에러 보정을 위한 미디언 필터링 IP부, 에지 검출 IP, 거리를 검출하기 위한 스테레오 정합을 IP와 결과 영상을 보여주기 위한 TFT-LCD IP를 구현하였다.

  • 본 논문에서는 실제 도로 환경에서의 실시간 차선 인식 방법을 제안한다. 전방주시카메라를 활용하여 촬영한 입력영상으로부터 도로영역에 해당하는 관심영역을 추출하고 반복적인 평균 명도를 측정하여 이진화함으로써 차선 특징을 검출하고 YCbCr 변환한 영상에 대한 실험 임계값을 적용하여 중앙선의 특징을 검출하였다. 이에 Canny 알고리즘을 이용한 에지 추출로 허프 변환시의 작업량을 최소화하였으며 허프 변환하여 얻은 차선 후보군으로부터 각도를 기반으로 필터링하여 통계적으로 우선순위가 높은 선분을 차선으로 인식하였다. 또한 실제 도로 환경에서 수집한 동영상으로 실험한 결과 강건한 차선 인식률을 보였다.

An Automatic ROI Extraction and Its Mask Generation based on Wavelet of Low DOF Image (피사계 심도가 낮은 이미지에서 웨이블릿 기반의 자동 ROI 추출 및 마스크 생성)

  • This paper suggests a new algorithm automatically searching for Region-of-Interest(ROI) with high speed, using the edge information of high frequency subband transformed with wavelet. The proposed method executes a searching algorithm of 4-direction object boundary by the unit of block using the edge information, and detects ROIs. The whole image is splitted by $64{\times}64$ or $32{\times}32$ sized blocks and the blocks can be ROI block or background block according to taking the edges or not. The 4-directions searche the image from the outside to the center and the algorithm uses a feature that the low-DOF image has some edges as one goes to center. After searching all the edges, the method regards the inner blocks of the edges as ROI, and makes the ROI masks and sends them to server. This is one of the dynamic ROI method. The existing methods have had some problems of complicated filtering and region merge, but this method improved considerably the problems. Also, it was possible to apply to an application requiring real-time processing caused by the process of the unit of block.

  • In this paper, we present a new interpolation scheme for image enhancement using nonlinear operator. In general, interpolation techniques are based on linear operators which are essentially lowpass filters, hence, they tend to blur fine details in the original image. In our approach, the operator itself balances the strength of its sharpening and noise suppressing components according to the properties of the input image data.
