An Energy Efficient and Low Latency MAC Protocol Using RTS Aggregation for Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 RTS 통합을 이용한 에너지 효율성과 낮은 지연을 갖는 MAC 프로토콜)

  • Wireless sensor networks have been studied with two typical applications called event-driven and periodic monitoring. Although these applications have different core requirements, they have the same low latency requirement. However, main issue of the protocol in wireless sensor networks was focused on an energy efficiency, so it has not considered the latency problem. In this paper, we propose the RA-MAC, an energy efficient and low latency MAC protocol using a new channel access mechanism and the RTS Aggregation scheme for wireless sensor networks. Our simulation results show that the RA-MAC provides energy savings and latency reduction.

An Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol based on Static Grid in Wireless Sensor Networks (무선 센서 네트워크에서 정적 그리드 기반의 에너지 효율적 라우팅 프로토콜)

  • Recently wireless sensor networks as a field of ubiquitous computing technology was in the limelight. To use and collect the necessary information, Sink node mobility is essential. TTDD(Two-Tier Data Dissemination) proposed most common technique associated with Mobile sink node in wireless sensor networks, but issues exist that the use of many control packet falls into the energy efficiency. The technique for solving problems is Cluster-Based Energy-efficient Routing protocol (CBPER). But CBPER does not transmit the data correctly to sink node or source node. In this paper, we propose An Energy-Efficient Routing Protocol based on Static Grid using mobile sink nodes in order to solve the data transmission failure and reduce the energy consumption in Wireless Sensor Networks. We have evaluated it with the NS-2 simulator. Our results show that the proposed protocol saves the energy consumption up to 34% in comparison with CBPER. We also prove that the proposed protocol can transmit more accurate data to the sink de than CBPER.

  • 위치기반 라우팅 기법들은 소스에서 목적지노드로 데이터 패킷을 전송하기 위한 목적으로 널리 사용된다. 오리지널 그리디 포워딩 기법은 실제 무선링크의 신뢰성을 고려하지 않아 수많은 데이터 패킷 재전송이 발생한다. 이러한 문제를 해결하기 위해 PRR ${\times}$ Distance 기법이 제안되었지만 실제 무선링크의 비대칭성을 고려하지 않아 여전히 많은 재전송이 발생한다. 제안기법은 포워딩할 데이터 패킷을 가진 현재 노드의 전송 반경 내에서 전송 가능한 1-hop과 2-hop 라우팅 경로를 찾는다. 이들 라우팅 경로들 중 기대전송비용이 최소가 되는 경로를 선택하여 데이터와 ACK 패킷을 전송한다. 시뮬레이션을 결과를 통해 제안기법이 기존 기법들보다 높은 신뢰성과 에너지 효율을 가짐을 보인다.

  • 본 논문에서는 센서 네트워크(sensor networks)의 가장 대표적인 MAC 프로토콜인 S-MAC 의 에너지 효율을 높이기 위한 새로운 ACK(Acknowledgement) 기법을 제안한다. S-MAC 의 데이터 전송 절차는 Stop and Wait ARQ(Automatic Repeat Request) 방식을 사용하기 때문에 ACK 패킷으로 인한 불필요한 에너지 소비가 크다. 에너지 효율성은 센서 네트워크의 가장 중요한 고려사항이므로 불필요한 에너지 소비를 줄이는 새로운 ACK 기법을 제안한다. 우리는 시뮬레이션을 통해 S-MAC 과 제안된 ACK 기법의 에너지 효율을 비교했다. 시뮬레이션 결과에서 제안한 기법이 S-MAC 보다 에너지 효율성이 높았다.

  • In this paper, a concatenated frame algorighm for improving transmission efficiency in WiMedia protocol is studied. And an efficient transmission scheme to reduce the degradation of network performance by the loss of mini-frame is proposed in this paper. The proposed scheme can reduce total energy consumption and improve the transmission efficiency since it only retransmits mini-frame in which error is occurred. The simulation results show that proposed protocol can enhance the throughput performance and improve energy efficiency by minimizing the retransmission of mini-frame.

  • Recently, there have been many researches which can achieve high data rate in multi-user massive MIMO networks while reducing the complexity in terms of both hardware and algorithm. In addition, many researches have been conduced to reduce the energy consumption in next generation mobile communication networks. In this paper, we thus investigated new transmit antenna selection scheme to achieve low computational complexity and enhance energy efficiency in multi-user massive MIMO networks. First, we introduced the optimal scheme based on Brute-Force searching to maximize the energy efficiency and then proposed new antenna selection scheme to dramatically reduce the computational complexity compared to the optimal scheme. As the number of transmit antennas increases, the complexity of the optimal scheme exponentially increases while the complexity of the proposed scheme linearly increases. Nevertheless, the energy efficiency performance gap between proposed and optimal schemes is not huge.

  • Data collected by sensors in field are transmitted to the base station gathering all of data. Because sensors have to gather data in surroundings and periodically transmit data to the base station, it makes energy consumed much. In this paper, we propose the scheme that is to avoid traffic congestion with achievement of energy efficiency, so collected data is transmitted efficiently. This is to adjust transmission rate differently in case of increasing or decreasing traffic and minimize the energy consumption with setting ideal options up basic CSMA(Carrier Sense Multiple Access) protocol in each sensor. Through the simulation, we find the ideal CSMA options and apply the proposed scheme of traffic control mechanism to them, then show energy efficiency and effective traffic control mechanism.

  • 최근 무선 센서 네트워크01서 원격코드설치를 위한 신뢰적인 전송 프로토콜에 관한 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있다. 센서 네트워크는 한정된 에너지를 가지기 때문에 에너지 소모를 줄이기 위한 NACK 기반의 전송 프로토콜로 설계된다. 하지만, NACK 기반의 프로토콜은 패킷손실 이벤트 전달을 막기 위해 전송을 멈추고 에러복구를 하기 때문에 코드 전송시간을 증가시키게 되고 센서 네트워크의 수명을 줄이게 된다. 본 논문은 센서 네트워크에서 신속한 원격코드설치를 위친 NACK 억제 기법을 제안한다. 또한, ns-2 시뮬레이터를 이용한 실험을 통해 코드 전송시간이 제안된 기법에 의해 향상되었음을 확인하였다.

Contention-Free Access Protocol Based Energy-Efficient Transmission for Wireless PANs (비경쟁 접근 프로토콜 기반 WPAN을 위한 에너지 효율적인 전송기법)

  • One of very essential techniques for enlarging lifetime of energy-constrained wireless personal area network (WPAN) devices is energy-efficient transmission technique. If the WPAN is operated based on a TDMA protocol, the satisfaction of QoS requirements at each allocated time slot is another important factor to be considered. We therefore propose an energy-efficient transmission scheme for WPANs operating with a contention-free medium access protocol such as TDMA, as well as satisfying QoS requirement. The proposed algorithm determines the optimum combination of transmit power, physical data rate and fragment size required to simultaneously minimize the energy consumption and satisfy the required QoS in each assigned time duration, considering all the possible energy-minimization related parameters. The proposed algorithm demonstrated the improved performance results in terms of throughput and energy consumption via computer simulation.

  • Many applications in Wireless Sensor Networks require collecting all data without loss from nodes. End-to-End data retransmission, which is used in the Internet for reliable transport, becomes very inefficient in Wireless Sensor Networks, since wireless communication, and constrained resources pose new challenges. We look at factors affecting reliability, and search for efficient combinations of the possible options. This paper proposes an efficient Overhearing based reliable transfer protocol in Wireless Sensor Networks by introducing Selective and implicit Acknowledgement. Finally, it is clarified that the proposed scheme is efficient for reliable data transfer in WSN.
