  • This study aims to find the ways to correct and fix the errors in transcription by analyzing Romanization of Korean geographical names in foreign countries. The gazetteers from many countries, place name databases, and map-providing websites are the main source of research. Common error types found in this study are variant name posting, subordinated marking, double posting, spelling errors, and location errors. In fact, transcription of geographical names exhibits more diverse forms and types. The counter measures to fix these errors are as follows, firstly, consistent efforts with regular monitoring to fix errors are essential. Secondly, the one and only standardized Romanization principle is urgent. Thirdly, prompt update and publication in case of place name and/or boundary change is necessary. Fourthly, efforts to register unregistered geographical names are necessary. Lastly, the establishment of central agency solely for the management of geographical names is required.

  • It has been grown interests of the convergence technologies about communication systems and vehicular industry. Vehicular communications enable a number of infotainment applications to serve cars under high mobility environments. To achieve this goal, a robust and accurate channel estimation scheme is of great importance. This paper proposes an enhanced Decision-Directed channel estimation scheme called PTAU(Pilot Tone Aided Update) for IEEE 802.11p in vehicular communication environment. Existing approaches which use subsequent data symbols to estimate channel response in time domain will lead to the error propagation. In this paper, we use the pilot subcarriers to get initial channel response, then utilize the correlation characteristics to update channel response in frequency domain. Finally, Analysis and simulation results reveal that the proposed scheme outperforms in bit error rate(BER), significantly improve the performance of the estimation.

  • Console game has high market occupancy in the world game market and has popular favor for many players. Especially, the experience console game in which body movement is used to control the game has made its own market. However, previous experience console games can easily make players to be boring and require additional payments to update the game. In this paper, we present an experience dance game using Kinet, which has high interest and can be continuously updated. Differently from previous console games, the presented game makes the player to see how they are playing and to know what the next action is. Also, the accuracy of the player motion is compared 20 times in each second to get high interests of players. Through these functions, the presented game can achieve high satisfaction rates based on the qualitative evaluation of users.

  • An efficient algorithm for inverting static-shifted magnetotelluric (MT) data has been proposed to produce a three-dimensional (3D) resistivity model. In the Gauss-Newton approach, computational costs associated with construction of a full sensitivity matrix usually make 3D MT inversion impractical. This computational difficulty may be overcome by using approximate sensitivities. We use four kinds of sensitivities in particular orders in the inversion process. These sensitivities are computed 1) analytically for an initial, homogeneous earth, 2) exactly for a current model, 3) approximately by the Broyden method, and 4) approximately using the previous adjoint fields. Inversion experiments with static-shifted synthetic and field MT data indicate that inversion results are highly dependent on characteristics of data and thus applying various combinations of sensitivities is helpful in obtaining a good image of the subsurface structure with reasonable computation time.

  • This paper proposes low latency handover procedure for seamless connectivity and QoS support between wired (e.g. Ethernet) and wireless (e.g. WLAN, WiBro(802.16-compatible), CDMA) networks by the mobile-assisted and server-initiated handover strategy. It is assumed that the server decides the best target network considering network status and user preferences. In this procedure, a mobile terminal associates with the wireless link decided at the server in advance and receives CoA as well. When handover occurs without the prediction in wired networks, the server performs fast binding update using physical handover trigger through the MIH (media independent handover) function. As a result, a mobile terminal does not need to perform L2 and L3 handover during handover so that this procedure decreases handover latency and loss.

  • As the domestic electric power industry becomes a smart grid, big data platforms for demand management, facility management, and customer service have been deployed. However, due to the nature of the big data project, big data platforms take time to realize their value in the business processes. Therefore, it is not easy to evaluate the performance of the initial big data platforms using the known or theoretical evaluation methods. In this paper, we propose a methodology of big data platform performance evaluation based on specific information quality such as information completeness/sufficiency, information reliability, information relevancy, information comparability, information unbiasedness, timeliness of information, related to the volume, diversity, and velocity of big data.

  • Conventional acoustic echo cancelers using ES(Exponentially weighted Stepsize) algorithm have simple operational configuration and fast convergence speed batter then NLMS algorithm, but they are very weak in external noise because ES algorithm updates filter taps using an average energy reduction rate of room impulse response in specific acoustical condition. So, a new configuration of acoustic echo canceler with stepsize generator and selector is proposed in this thesis. The proposed stepsize generator and selector improve conventional acoustic echo canceler's weakness in external noise and improve the system robustness. The stepsize generator generates additional stepsize value using moving averager, which is the residual noise energy of error signal multiplied by constant ${\gamma}$. The stepsize selector selects the stepsize value that has better performance in an acoustic echo canceler using a coefficient decision factor ${\Delta}_{differ}$ The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm reduces residual error by 5[dB] to 10[dB], improves misadjustment regardless of external noise's SNR.

  • The end-of-life vehicles (ELV) are important recycling sources, and there are several stages involved in the recycling such as dismantling, shredding, and treatment of shredder residues (ASR). The legal recycling rate should be at least 95% on and after 2015, while we need a proper system to monitor recycling of ELV components and to calculate the practical recycling rate. The paper suggests a monitoring system that calculates practical recycling rates of dismantled components by use of a database of standard recycling rate as well as a web-based monitoring, which is linked to the Eco Assurance system for electric & electronic equipment and vehicle (EcoAS). Also the system supports dismantling and monitoring process by incorporating a standard vehicular component database, which facilitates recording dismantled weight data but also monitoring of dismantled components.

  • The purpose of this study to present updated regional annual mean rainfall erosivity data in the Republic of Korea. In 2012, Ministry of Environment in Korea published the notice about investigation and survey procedure for the amount of topsoil erosion and adopted USLE (Universal Soil Loss Equation) model to predict the amount of national-scale soil erosion in Korea. In the notice, regional rainfall erosivity values for 158 sites, which is essential to apply the USLE, were included, however, these values came from the data made before 1997 and need to be updated. This study collected, classified and combined annual mean rainfall erosivity data from the literature review to analyze the data. We presented that new iso-erodent map, interpolated by IDW (Inverse Distance Weighted) method and extracted updated regional annual mean rainfall erosivity data at 167 regions for 1961~2015. These values will be used as updated rainfall erosivity data to predict the amount of topsoil erosion in Korea.

  • One of the most widely-used open source project; OpenSSL is a cryptography library that is used to secure most web sites, servers and clients. One can secure the communication with the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) or its successor, Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocols by using the OpenSSL library. Since cryptography protocols will be updated and enhanced in order to keep the system protected, the library was written in such a way that simplifies the integration of new cryptographic methods, especially for the symmetric cryptography protocols. However, it gets a lot more complicated in adding an asymmetric cryptography protocol and no guide can be found for the integration of the asymmetric cryptography protocol. In this paper, we explained the architecture of the OpenSSL library and provide a simple tutorial to modify the OpenSSL library in order to accommodate custom protocols of both symmetric and asymmetric cryptography.
