  • 1. The sensibility of Fluta alba Zuiew to acetylcholine is more than ten times as strong as that of Ophicephalus argus Cantor which has been ever known as the most sensitive material. Fluta alba Zuiew is, therefore, considered as the best material for the bioassay of acetylcholine. 2. 5-hydorxytryptamine accelerates very much the heart activity of Misgurnus mizolepis Gunther but inhibits that of Fluta alba. 3. The sensibility of Fluta alba to norepinephrine is more than a hundred times as strong as that to epinephrine.

Allelopathic Potentials of Larix leptolepis on Germination of Several Forest Tree Species (몇가지 삼림수종(森林樹種) 종자발아(種子發芽)에 대(對)한 낙엽송엽(落葉松葉) 추출물(抽出物)의 Allelopathic 효과(效果))

  • Inhibitory effect of L. leptolepis fallen leaf extracts on the germination of Pinus densiflora, ${\times}$ Pinus rigitaeda, Pinus rigida, Pinus thunbergii and Larix leptolepis was investigated. Germination of those seeds in culture room and in pot at field showed the highly significant inhibitory effects by the aqueous extracts from L. leptolepis fallen leaves. Among them L. leptolepis was the most severely inhibited by the aqueous extracts used. To identify allelopathic substances, thin-layer chromatography was employed. Gallic, ferulic, t-cinnamic and vanillic acids were identified from fallen leaves of L. leptolepis. From the results, it is assumed that autotoxicity of L. leptolepis may act as inhibitory factors on germination of the species in natural stands.

The Physical Restraint Use in Hospital Nursing Situation (병원 간호현장에서의 억제대 사용실태에 관한 연구)

  • This research is a field investigation to collect basic information about the safe and efficient use of physical restraint in hospitals and for the ultimate minimization of restraint use. The objects of this study were sixty-four patients. They were restrained physically. Add their 32 family members, 24 nurses of two university hospitals in Seoul were also involved in the study. From April 16, to May 27, 1999. Research data were collected throughout the observation and interview process. Also, the data was analyzed using frequencies and field study notes that were invented by researchers. Results of this study were as follows: 1. According to the sex and age distinction; male's restraint use was 75%, female's was 25% and pre-schoolage children 39.1%, middle age 26.5%, and senior citizens 20.3%. According to the disease distinction; neuro-system was 35.9%, respiratory system was 21.9%. In the Ward, 40.6% of ICU patients were restrained and 39.0% of pediatric ward children were also to restraint. 70.3% of patients were restrained under 5days, while 10.9% were restrained 10days. 2. Types of physical restraints were wrist restraint (45.21%), arm board (35.62%), leg restraint (8.22%), chest restraint (6.85%), elbow restraint (2.74%) and mitten restraint (1.37%). 3. The percentage was 3.5%, which was in 64 restrained out of 1828 hospitalized people. At 1st investigation, the ratio was 3.5%, the 2nd was 3.0% and the 3rd was 3.9%. 4. The reasons of using the physical restraint were 'to protect implements' (72.84%), 'to protect patients' (18.52%), 'to protect an operative site' (8.64%). 5. The result of the patients; family and nurses' response analysis was: 'It seems to be safe', 'It uses properly', 'It is convenient for relatives and nurses', 'It is helpful to treatment', 'Objective think it is not restraint' were 79.9%. 'It is discomfort and stuffy', 'The implement is ineffective' were 21.1%. However in interview of the patients who can do verbally communication, 6 of 7 was responded that 'It is stuffy and uncomfortable'. 6. When restraint is used, the main decision is usually made by the nurses 42.2% of the time. The statistics read as thus: nurses and the physician in charge 31.3%, nurses and family 12.5%, physician's order 7.8%, only family 6.2%. Although the record of restraint was only 15.6% so that only 10 cases out of all the 26 ICU patients restrained. This study shows that physical restraints which of infringe independent-right of patients, are used without using criterion, explaining the agreement. Also, subjective decision of physician, nurses, and family make the decision of using restraint. So development of practice manuals and rules for restraint implementation is urgent.

Effect of Oryzalin on the Gravitropic Response and Ethylene Production in Maize Roots (옥수수 일차뿌리에서 oryzalin이 굴중성 반응과 에틸렌 생성에 미치는 효과)

  • Oryzalin is a dinitroaniline herbicide, which disrupts the arrangement of microtubules. Microtubules and microfilaments are cytoskeletal components that are thought to play a role in the sedimentation of statoliths and the formation of cell walls. Statoliths regulate the perception of gravity by columella cells in the root tip. To determine the effect of oryzalin on the gravitropic response, ethylene production in primary roots of maize was investigated. Treatment with 10-4 M oryzalin to the root tip inhibited the growth and gravitropic response of the roots. However, the treatment had no effect on the elongation zone of the roots. An application of 10-4 M oryzalin for 15 hr to the root tip caused root tip swelling. The application of 1-aminocycopropane-1-carboxylic acid (ACC), a precursor of ethylene, to the root tip also inhibited the gravitropic response. To understand the role of oryzalin in the regulation of the growth and gravitropic response of roots, ethylene production in the primary roots of maize was measured following treatment with oryzalin. Oryzalin stimulated ethylene production via the activation of ACC oxidase (ACO) and ACC synthase (ACS), and it increased the expression of ACO and ACS genes. Indole-3-acetic acid (IAA) played a key role in the asymmetric elongation rates observed during gravitropism. The results suggest that oryzalin alters the gravitropic response of maize roots through modification of the arrangement of microtubules. This might reduce the distribution of IAA in the upper and lower sides of the elongation zone and increase ethylene production, thereby inhibiting growth and gravitropic responses.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate factors related to use of restraints for older adults with dementia in long-term care settings. Methods: This study analyzed secondary data from the Nationwide Survey on Dementia Care in Korea (NaSDeCK). Demographic characteristics, disease characteristics, and functional characteristics were analyzed. Data were analyzed with χ2 test, t-test, ANOVA, and logistic regression analysis. Results: Among participants, 8.2% experienced use of restraints. 'Strap' (78.3%) was the most commonly used restraint and 'Behavioral problem' (51.3%) was a major reason for the restraint. Persons who have low levels of daily activity and cognition deficits, higher levels of dependence, histories of falls within the past 3 months, and living in long-term hospitals have greater probability of restraint experience. Conclusion: Developing interventions for older adults who have a high risk of being restrained is essential to minimize unnecessary restraint use among older adults with dementia in long-term care settings. Further study exploring the interacting roles of organizational and staff factors related to use of physical restraints would provide more comprehensive perspectives in understanding this phenomenon.

  • 최근 전자산업의 급속한 발전으로 인하여 전기, 전자제품 특히 정보기기가 사회 각 분야에 보급됨에 따라 전자파 밀집도가 높아지고 전자파 환경을 악화시키는 경우가 증가하여 설치된 기기가 원래의 목표 대로 동작하지 않아 혼란을 일으키거나, 나아가 인체에 장해를 일으키는 등 심각한 문제 점으로 대두되고 있다. 이 문제점을 해결하기 위한 접근 방법은 일반적으로 두가지로 나눌 수 있는데 하나는 불요전자파의 방출을 규제치 이하로 억제하는 방법이고, 다른 하나는 일정한 규제치의 전자파 환경 내에서도 장해를 받지 않고 정상적인 동작을 할 수 있는 내성을 강화시키는 방법이다. 이 두가지 가 조화를 이루어 기기들이 공존할 수 있는 능력을 갖게 하는 것이 EMC 연구의 궁극적인 목표로 할 수 있다.

  • 재정경제부, 공정거래위원회 등 주요 경제부처는 지난 8월 25일(수) 정$\cdot$재계 간담회를 개최하고 동 간담회에서의 합의내용을 실천하기 위한 재벌개혁 세부방안을 확정 발표했다. 동 재벌개혁 후속방안은 동 간담회에서 정부와 재계가 합의한 투명한 기업경영지배구조 정착과 순환출자 및 부당내부거래의 억제, 변칙적인 부의 세습 차단 및 제2금융권 지배방지 등 정부의 재벌개혁 3원칙을 구체화하는 데 초점을 맞추고 있다. 정부는 무엇보다 재벌기업의 자기자본대비 출자총액한도를 매우 엄격하게 규정, 동 제도를 부활함으로써 순환출자를 줄이도록 유도하기로 했다.

지하철 정거장 균열발생 원인 분석

  • 현재 서울을 비롯한 5대 광역시에 지하철이 계획, 시공되고 있다. 이와 같은 지하철은 많은 사람들이 이용하는 대중교통 수단이므로 설계 시 작용하는 하중조건을 모두 고려하여 설계를 하고 있지만 Box형으로 시공된 지하철 구조물의 본선 및 정거장에 대해 점검한 보고서를 참고하면 본선보다는 정거장에서 많은 균열이 발생되고 있다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 Box형으로 시공된 정거장 구조물에 대하여 균열이 발생된 형태와 원인을 연구하여 추후 시공하고자 하는 정거장구조물에 대해 균열발생 억제방안을 도출하고자 한다. (중략)

  • 정전기 장해대책의 기본은 정전기의 발생을 억제하는 것과 축적된 전하를 될 수 있는 대로 조속히 완화시키는 것이다. 정전기로 인한 장해는 여러 분야에서 발생되고 있으며 그 중요성 및 심각성을 간과할 수 없다. 그 중에서 반도체 분야는 경제성, 고성능화, 고신뢰성화의 실현을 위하여 반도체소자가 점차 LSI화되고 그 때문에 기술경향은 미세화, 집적화가 매년 진행되어 미크론의 시대에 이르렀으며 접합깊이, 게이트 산화막, 트랜지스터의 길이 등이 상당히 작아지고 있다. (중략)
