A study on the employment preparation cost and attitude of college student for Job-seeking (국내 대학생의 취업태도 및 취업준비 비용에 관한 연구)

  • This Study focuses on the university students' job attitude and cost of employment preparation. Nowadays, many university and college students spend a big money improving their employment preparation such as studying on foreign language, getting various kinds of certificates and tooth correction, clothing etc. for employment interview. This study investigated the cost of employment preparation and Job attitude of the 484 students of universities and colleges, the analysis of the collected data was conducted with SPSS 12.0 program by using frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability assessment, correlation test, t-test, one way ANOVA. The university students paid more costs of employment preparation such as a language training abroad, a private training, and clothing than the college students. Also, Allied social science students paid more costs of the language training abroad, and clothing than allied computer science and allied design students. The female students paid more money than male students for tooth correction. The costs of language training abroad, private training and clothing are affected the students' socioeconomic background of a home. Regarding the job attitude of students, the university students are feeling more positive than the college students of the employment efficacy and cognition of the education environment. As result, the differences in the cost of employment preparation by the university type, faculty major course, their sex, and socioeconomic background of a home. The student's employment-efficacy and cognition of the education environment are also differences between the university and the college students. So, to improve the job attitude, developing their ability for employment preparation, educational programs should be arranged in school and continuous researches are needed.

The evaluation of oral health behavior between students studying in Canada and college students in Korea (해외 어학연수생과 한국 대학생 간의 구강보건행태 평가)

  • Objectives : The purpose of the study is to investigate the oral health behaviors between students studying in Vancouver, Canada and college students in Daejeon, Korea. Methods : A self-reported questionnaire was filled out by 239 students in November, 2013. The questionnaire consisted of oral health behavior including tooth brushing methods between two countries. Chi-square test and t-test were analyzed. The analyses were conducted using R version 2.14.2(R Foundation for statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria). Results : The number of tooth brushing in Korean students was higher than those in Canada. Fifty nine percent of the Koreans brushed their teeth 3 times a day while 62.3% of students in Canada brushed their teeth 2 times a day(p<0.0001). Those who were taught on oral health education tended to brush the teeth more frequently that those who had not. Koreans and Japanese tended to brush teeth more frequently after breakfast than the Taiwanese(p=0.005). Koreans also brushed teeth after dinner more frequently than Japanese, Taiwanese, and other foreigners(p=0.012). Conclusions : This study indicated that Koreans have better oral health behaviors in comparison to students studying abroad.

  • In this study, the information literacy educational program currently used by Korean universities was applied to foreign ones and its educational effect was analyzed and their degree of satisfaction and demands were understood. As a result, the educational effect was shown, but the average knowledge of academic information used still remained low, but the satisfaction degree of education for information literacy was high, which means that such education is absolutely needed for foreign students. The analyzed results and contents carried out in the experiment will be very helpful for designing a differentiated information literacy educational program for foreign students.

A Study on the Comparative study for the Four-year Collegiate Career Preparation Behavior by Grade Level : The case of C University (4년제 대학생들의 학년별 취업준비행동 비교연구 -C 대학을 사례로-)

  • In this study, it was to prepare a plan for improving the employment rate of college students after identifying employment preparation behavior by grade level. Based on data collected in this study, frequency analysis was analyzed and in order to find out the difference of employment preparation behavior between grade level, Cross-analysis was performed. The results, all items showed that significant differences by grade level in preparation for employment actions such as choice of a double major, workers' experience in college education services, language training experience in foreign countries, setting career in college education services, setting a goal for employment, seeking for employment in college education services, participation in employment activity for researching job, education/training-related job, having an official license. Implications for activation direction of employment preparation of college student by grade level is as follows. First, it is necessary for encouraging actively employment intention of the students. Second, there is a need for institutional support for certification and expanding language training opportunities. Third, in the case of a local university, it is necessary for enhancing competency for employment through the promotion of basic education for students.
