A Study on Improvement Plans for Library Policy to Strengthen the Reading Ability of Children and Young Adults with Disabilities (장애 아동 및 청소년의 독서역량 강화를 위한 도서관정책 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • This study tried to identify the reading and library use and requirements of children and young adults with disabilities in school age, and to suggest improvements in library policy, centered on the National Library for the Disabled Unlike the library policy centered on the creation of alternative materials and the establishment of an integrated cataloging system for alternative materials, children and young adults with disabilities mainly use paper books, and 80% of them hardly use the library. This study established a system centered on the special school library and proposed to establish a foundation for enjoying reading culture through curation of books by disability type and developmental age. In addition, based on the development of international standardization of multimedia collections, cooperation with the National Library for Children and Young Adults, and the expansion of librarian, collections, and budgets of special school libraries, linkage with students with disabilities in special classes of general schools was suggested.

An Analysis on Access Points of Children's Materials : Using "A" Online Library Catalog and "N" Children's Database in the U. S. (어린이자료의 접근점 분석 - 미국의 사례를 중심으로 -)

  • This paper reports the results of the analysis on the access points of two bibliographic databases specialized in children's materials: "A" public library's online catalog and "N" children's novel database. The analysis particularly focused on the access points that lead users to discover their own needs and on the ways users search and navigate. The findings showed that the selected bibliographic systems supported many access points that were taken from the materials as well as from other relevant information sources and that browsing and navigating with hyperlinks supported the users' 'recognition' of information through 'interactivity' between the users and the systems, 'information encountering,' and 'serendipity.' The findings of this paper have implications for librarians and systems designers who want to develop user-friendly bibliographic systems that give access to children's materials.

  • 본 논문의 목적은 아동 도서를 취급하는 여러 형태 중 인터넷 서점에서 제공하는 다양한 도서 정보를 좀 더 효과적으로 제공하기 위해 현재 운영되고 있는 6개 인터넷 서점의 도서 분류 체계를 분석하였으며, 특히 여러 주제 영역 가운데 '아동 도서'를 중심으로 효과적인 분류 체계를 제시하고자 하였다. 국내 인터넷 서점 중 온.오프라인 인터넷 서점을 운영하는 교보문고, 영풍문고, 반디북닷컴과 온라인인터넷 서점만을 운영하는 예스24, 알라딘, 모닝365의 특징을 '아동 도서'의 주제 영역별로 분석하였다. 또한 분석한 내용을 중심으로 KDC와 연계하여 KDC의 10개 주제 영역별로 각 인터넷 서점의 주제항목을 비교 분석하였다. 이와 같이 선정된 6개 인터넷 서점의 '아동 도서'분류 기준에서 문제점들이 들어났고, 이를 고려한 효과적인 분류체계 안을 마련하는 것이 무엇보다 중요한 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 6개의 인터넷 서점 아동 도서 분류 체계 분석 결과와 함께 KBC를 아동 전문 도서관에 맞게 변형시킨 '느티나무 어린이 도서관 분류법' 특징을 고려한 효과적인 아동도서 분류 기준을 제시하였다.

A Case Study of Health Information Service for Patient Users in Overseas Hospital Libraries (국외 병원도서관에서의 환자이용자를 위한 건강정보서비스 사례연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to suggest implications from the case of health information service for patients in overseas hospital libraries. A total of 89 overseas hospital libraries were selected, including general hospitals, specialized hospitals, women's hospitals, children's hospitals, and veterans' hospitals. The health information service that is provided in general and common in 89 hospital libraries was surveyed and the differentiated health information service was investigated next. As a result, first, it can be seen that the establishment of hospital libraries and the provision of health information services are common outside of Korea. Second, various human resources such as librarians, health information specialists, medical specialists, social workers, clinical librarians, health education specialists, and volunteers are utilized. Third, it provides not only print materials but also various information sources such as electronic materials, websites, pamphlets, brochures, and provides health information in various languages. Fourth, in providing health (information literacy) education and programs, services are provided through linkage with hospitals, local public libraries, and local communities. The implications for domestic hospital libraries are as follows: First, the change of awareness of the establishment of hospital libraries and the provision of health information services; second, the support of the curriculum and associations and the need for continuing education; third, it is necessary to link with related organizations for mandatory and diversification of health information services in hospital libraries.

  • 지난 8월 17일부터 23일까지 몽골건축사협회 주최로 몽골 울란바토르에서 개최된 제30차 ARCASIA 이사회 및 제15차 포럼에 앞서 15일과 16일, 양일간 2009-2010 아카시아 건축상 심사가 이루어졌다. 전체 12개 부문에 대해 우리 협회는 8개 부문, 총 11개 작품을 제출하였으며 4개 부문에서 골드메달을 수상하는 영예를 안았다. 다세대주택부문(A-2:Multiple Family Residential Complexes)에서 최삼영(주. 가와 종합건축사사무소)회원의 '용인동백 아펠바움'이, 공공시설부문(B-4, Public Amenity: Industrial Buildings)에서는 최동호(건축사사무소 마당소리)회원의 '주엽어린이도서관'이, 복합용도시설부문(B-6:Mixed Use Developments)에서는 윤세한(주. 해안 종합건축사사무소)회원의 '용산 I PARK MALL'이, 산업시설부문(C:Industrial Buildings)에서는 신춘규(씨지에스 건축사사무소)회원의 '아임삭 오창 공장'이 골드메달을 수상했다. 다음은 심사에 참여한 이근창 국제위원회 전문위원의 심사평이다.

A Study on the Status of the Astronomical Science Museum among the Science Museum in Korea (우리나라 과학관 중 천문과학관이 차지하는 위상에 관한 연구)

  • "과학관의 설립 운영 및 육성에 관한 법률"에 의거하여 정식으로 등록된 전국의 국 공 사립 과학관은 2012년을 기점으로 100개를 넘었고 현재는 170여개 기관이 이른다. 해당 법률에서 규정하는 과학관은 국민들의 과학기술에 대한 이해증진 및 어린이와 청소년들의 과학에 대한 탐구심 함양, 과학문화의 대중화 등 과학문화 확산의 한 축으로 활용이 되고 있다. 과학관은 등록 요건에 따라 '종합과학관'과 '전문과학관'으로 분류를 하며 특히 전문과학관의 경우 과학의 여러 분야 중 한가지의 주제를 선정하여 그 주제에 맞는 전시물과 프로그램들을 운영하고 있다. 특히 천문과 우주를 테마로 한 과학관은 2009년 세계 천문의해를 기점으로 건립이 가속화 되었고 그 비중은 전체 과학관 중에 상당 부분을 차지하고 있다. 하지만 이에 대한 정확한 통계와 분류가 미흡하고 해당 기관들 상호간에 제대로 된 협력체계가 미비한 현실이다. 이와 유사한 박물관, 미술관, 도서관의 경우 과학관과 마찬가지로 해당 학문에 대한 홍보와 대중화를 위해 관련 법률이 마련되어 있는데 이들의 경우 관련분야에 종사하는 전공자들에 대한 별도의 자격제도와 해당 기관에서의 지위를 부여받은 것과는 상당한 차이를 보이고 있어 이들 법률의 비교를 통하여 각 기관들의 설립목적과 운영취지, 자격제도 등을 알아보고 천문우주 과학전공자들에 대한 객관적인 검증제도 도입 및 과학관 건립시 그들을 채용할 수 있는 객관적인 근거를 마련해 보고자 한다.

A Study on Analysis of Reading Research Trends in Korea's LIS Fields (국내 문헌정보학 분야의 독서 연구 동향 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze the trend of reading research in Korea's LIS Fields in the past 20 years, divided into the 2000s and 2010s, by establishing a keyword network. To achieve this purpose, keywords were extracted from 489 related articles in the four major journals in the LIS field sourced from the Korean Journal Citation Index (KCI) and then analyzed using NetMiner4. The results of the study were as follows: First, in the case of the 2000s, 'Public Library', 'Bibliotherapy', 'Reading Education', and 'School Library' showed high values of Frequency Analysis, Degree Centrality, and Betweenness Centrality. In the 2010s, 'Reading Education', 'School Library', 'Children', 'Adolescents', and 'Public Library' showed high values of the aforementioned measures. Second, in the 2000s, the establishment of library infrastructure for reading and reading education, the improvement of policies and systems, and reading research through the reading movement were actively conducted. In the 2010s, based on the work and research done in the 2000s, customized user reading studies and various detailed reading research were conducted. Third, to meet the demands of the times for the restoration of humanity with creativity and imagination in the Fourth Industrial Revolution, reading research and professional in-depth research should be conducted in various environments beyond public and school libraries and interdisciplinary research and active joint research between the field and academia are needed.

A Study on the Teacher Librarians' Book Recommendation Services for Individual Students (개별 학생을 위한 사서교사의 독서자료 추천활동에 대한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the aspects of teacher librarians' book recommendation services for individual readers. For this purpose, data were collected through in-depth interviews with the teacher librarians of elementary school. Through the analysis of the collected data, the process of the teacher librarians' book recommendation, the main characteristics of the book recommendation, and the factors considering in the book recommendation, as well as information on major issues that arise in the book recommendation activity were derived and presented. Specifically, it was confirmed that the teacher librarians's book recommendation process was implemented in the following stages: questioning and interviewing, book recommendation, and follow-up. And, it was investigated that the factors considered when recommending books were students' interest, reading history, book fun, reading level, book level, teacher, class, and curriculum. In addition, it was confirmed that differences occurred in the experiences and perceptions of teacher librarians in the process of considering these factors. These results can provide the implications for resolving the problems of the teacher librarians who perform book recommendation services.
