This paper proposes a robust detection method for ship wake search using two wake sensors. A long trailing wake in the rear of a surface ship is generated along the track of surface ships. In this paper, we assume that the nearer the surface ship, the stronger wake strength is and a two-sensor based wake homing torpedo can sense for the wake strength. On this assumption we propose a simple wake detection and search method using information of wake strength. Experimental results using monte-carlo simulation demonstrate that the proposed method yields better performance in search time than previous method, which uses a single sensor. Our method is shown faster by about 45 seconds than previous method to achieve the same performance. Also, it can improve the detection performance of torpedo in the case of short wake length.

Microspores were isolated from pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) anthers by using a micro-blender and cultured in modified NLN medium at $25^{\circ}C$. The influence of pretreatment period at $32^{\circ}C$, adding the 2-hydroxynicotinic acid to a pretreatment medium, and co-pretreatment anthers with microscopes on the induction of embryo were examined. Globular and torpedo embryos were observed from 3 weeks after culture. Embryo development was not synchronized within culture. After 4 weeks in culture, in addition to globular and torpedo embryos, cotyledonary embryos were observed. Normal cotylodonary embryos developed into plantlets when transferred to a solid hormone free B5 medium containing $2\%$ sucrose. Embryo yields were significantly higher after 1- and 2-day pretreatment at $32^{\circ}C$. However the development of embryo ceased at the globular or heart stage. In contrast, embryo yields were lower after 3- to 6-day pretreatment at $32^{\circ}C$ and embryo developed at the cotyledonary stage. After adding the 2-hydroxynicotinic acid to anther pretreatment solution, embryo yields were slightly increased. However most embryos occurred were at the globular or heart stage. Co-pretreatment of microspores with anthers was deleterious for embryo induction and development. AS far as we know, this is the first report of success in obtaining high frequency of embryogenesis and plantlets formation from isolated microspores of pepper. Although the culture conditions have to be optimized further, this promising microspore culture system can be used for genetic transformation, selection for dominant and recessive traits as well as for the production of homozygous doubled haploid plants.
This study was conducted to investigate the possibility of obtaining platelets via somatic embryogenesis as a means of in vivo mass propagation in Paeonia lactiflora Pall.. When cultured on MS medium with 0.5 mg/L 2, 4-D, filament explants formed calli. UPon transfer to basal medium the calli gave rise to somatic embryos at a frequency of 38%. Additional of 3g/L activated charcoal enhanced the frequency to 60%. Mature embryos preheated at 5$^{\circ}C$ for 2 weeks had 37% germination on medium with 0.3 mg/L GA$_3$. The germinated embryos developed to complete plantlet when cultured on medium with 2mg/L BA.
In order to investigate the effects of developmental stage of embryos and plant growth regulators on mass production of Zantedeschia spp. Southern Light, immature zygotic embryos of Zantedeschia spp. Southern Light were cultured on Murashige and Skoog(1962) basal media or containing 2,4-D, NAA and BA. Globular embryos did not grow on any of the 2,4-D, NAA and BA combinations. The most suitable stage of immature zygotic embryo culture on the induction callus and multiple shoot was at early cotyledonary embryo stage, and at this stage of embryos were germinated up to 87.5%. The whitish watery callus and yellowish compact nodular callus produced on all 2,4-D, NAA and BA media. The best combination for inducing embryogenic callus was 0.5 mgL NAA and 1.0 mg/L BA. Whitish watery calli have been subcultured for more than 8 months and have retained their producing ability, Plant regeneration was only obtained by direct shoot development and yellowish compact nodular calli. Abundant plantlets were regenerated from cotyledonary stage of embryo culture on MS medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L NAA and 1.0 mg/L BA. Supplementation of the media with 10% coconut water showed as the best concentration for plant differentiation from direct developed of shoots. The number of regenerated plants from one embryo could be seperated 25-35s plantlets. All yellowish compact callus-derived plantlets were transferred to pots containing a mixture of vermiculite, perlite and sand(1:1;1 v/v) and 100% of divided plantlets were phenotypically normal.
This study was conducted to find the factors affecting somatic embryogenesis in suspension culture of Rehmania glutinosa and investigate the possibility of artificial seed production by encapsulation of somatic embryos. Linsmeier-Skoog medium was appeared as proper for somatic embryogenesis. Sucrose with $3{\sim}5%$ as carbon sources was good for somatic embryogenesis, and both ammonium and nitrate nitrogen were necesary for normal somatic embryo production. BA with NAA or kinetin with NAA were better than the use of cytokinin alone for both somatic embryogenesis and numbers of somatic embryos. $AgNO_3$ as protectant for vitrification of seedlings in vitro culture had no harmful effect on somatic embryos. Sphericity of encapsulated seeds was good at 3% gel of sodium alginate but germination was better at 2.5% sodium alginate level. Artificial seeds were germinated and developed normal shoots and roots under in vitro condition.

The acclimatization of in vitro propagated plants is an important step to produce vigorous plants for clonal forestry and in vitro micro-environment may affect the growth in ex vitro condition. To monitor in vitro environmental effects on the growth in ex vitro condition, several culture systems such semi-solid medium(SS), temporary immersion bioreactor(TIB) and continuous immersion bioreactor(CIB) culture types were tested to compare for the growth of acclimated plants of Liriodendron tulipifera. Results suggested that morphological characters, stomatal conductance, evapotranspiration and chlorophyll contents of acclimated plants were affected by the different of in vitro culture conditions. CIB type of culture was resulted to the lowest value in the biomass of acclimated plants. Net photosynthsis rate of CIB was the same level as those of SS and TIB. However, stomatal conductance, evapotranspiration and $CO_2$ partial pressure in the intercellular air space were lower than those of SS and TIB. The amounts of chlorophyll a, b and carotenoids were also lower than those of the other two culture systems. TIB, showing a little lower or higher value than SS in many growth character, is recommended rather than CIB to produce healthy yellow poplar plants in ex situ condition.
Using calli of $Muscari$$armeniacum$ cv. 'Early Giant' that is monocotyledonous ornamental bulb crop with increasing demand in Korea, we carried out current studies to establish an in vitro multiple propagation protocol via somatic embryogenesis. We found that soft pale yellow green calli were induced from leaf explants cultured on all media containing 0.1~3.0 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ auxins such as 1-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D). However, induced calli showed vigorous growth only when they further transferred on same media containing 2,4-D, 4-amino-3,5,6-tri-chloropicolinic acid (picloram), or 3,6-dichloro-o-anisic acid (dicamba). Although frequency of somatic embryo induction depended on callus source and PGR composition in somatic embryo induction media, somatic embryogenesis was initiated on surface of proliferated calli after transferring on media with no PGR or 0.01 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA co-supplemented with various cytokinins such as $N^6$-benzylaminopurine (BAP). Highest number of embryo at 9.3 per callus clump was obtained when calli which were grown under 0.1 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ picloram supplementation were sub-cultured on medium with 0.01 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA and 0.5 $mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ BAP. In addition, morphological characteristics of somatic embryo were categorized into following nine phases: globular, biased heart, biased torpedo, early cotyledonary, middle cotyledonary, late cotyledonary, early sprouting, middle sprouting, and late sprouting embryos.
