지금 인쇄산업은 '어두운 밤에 차를 몰고 시골길을 달리는 것'과 같은 상황이다. 칠흑같은 밤에 처음 가는 시골길을 네비게이선도 없이 운전하고 있는 것이 지금 인쇄인들이 처한 상황이다. 그렇다면 인쇄인들은 어둠이 물러가고 환하게 밝아오는 새벽을 맞기 위해 어떠한 노력을 하고 있을까? 인쇄인과 인쇄단체들에게 요구되는 불황극복 방안은 무엇인가?

밤하늘을 수놓은 무수한 별을 바라보며 누구나 한 번쯤은 별들이 내뿜는 신비로운 빛에 매료되어 봤을 것이다. 하늘의 별들을 좀 더 가까이 두고 보고 싶은 사람의 소망 때문일까. 어느새 지상에도 별들을 쫓는 빛들이 밤거리를 밝히고 있다. 별빛을 대신하는 색색의 빛들이 지상을 가득 메워 어둠을 밝히고 있지만 하늘의 별들에서부터 지상의 인공적인 별들에 이르기까지 그 안에는 플라즈마가 함께 하고 있다.

오늘 소풍을 간다. 그렇게 중얼거린다. 새벽 다섯 시부터 부산하게 움직인다. 어젯밤에 미리 이불 속에 넣어둔 속옷으로 갈아입는다. 역시 어젯밤에 미리 책상 위에 챙겨놓은 나머지 옷들을 입는다. 나를 꼭두새벽에 잠 깨운 휴대전화를 호주머니에 밀어넣는다. 바깥바람은 아직 차지만 문을 힘껏 밀어제치고 터미널로 향한다. 깜짝 놀란 어둠이 검은 고양이처럼 멀리 달아난다. 잠시 뒤돌아보면 창문을 열고 가족이 손을 흔든다. 한 달에 한 번 대도시 종합병원으로 진료받으러 가는 길이다.

어둠이 오면 텐트마다 랜턴 불빛이 피어난다. 추운 날씨지만 랜턴 불빛은 은은하며 따뜻하다. 창백한 가로등 불빛과는 비교할 수 없이 정감이 있다. 텐트마다 피어난 랜턴의 불빛은 캠핑장을 환하게 비춘다. 캠퍼들은 모닥불 앞에 앉아 조용 조용 이야기를 나누며 제주의 밤이 깊어가는 것을 지쳐본다. 한라산과 오름, 올레와 겨울 바다 어느 것 하나 부족할 것 없는 제주에서 캠핑은 캠퍼들이 꿈꾸는 로망이다.

In the history of art and architecture, there are different characteristics in relationship between light and space. Among them, two characteristics seem to be fundamental : The first is that contrast between light and darkness is more articulated. Direct sunlight penetrates into the dark interior space made by heavy masonry structure. This is generally found in the traditional western religious buildings. The second is that light is mixed with darkness and becomes shade. Shade is different from shadow that is usually perceived as the opposite of light. Sunlight is filtered under through the big horizontal roof and rice paper walls in the traditional far-east Asian architecture and becomes weak ambient light. In this shade, there is no strong contrast between light and darkness. This difference is not only originated from the architectural differences, but also originated from the conceptual differences about light, space, and the world in two cultures. This paper tries to study the philosophical, aesthetical backgrounds as well as case examples in art and architecture of two characteristics. Based on the case studies, this paper aims to analyze the main perceptual structure. Finding the relationship between light, space, and human body by making three dimensional models is the crucial analysis method of this research. Although in real life and experiencing the world, these two characteristics are not clearly separated, comparative study based on different cultures gives opportunity to think of diverse perspectives on light and space.

The affection-image is the close-up of the face with real connections in space-time, or with virtual conjunction, outside spatio-temporal co-ordinates. The close-up can carry its own space-time in background. with deframing and fragmentation, Space itself has left behind its own space-time connection and become any-space-whatever that is the affection-image. The elements of any-space-whatever are the shadows, lyrical abstraction, the colors, the disconnected parts, the empty space. Deleuze examines any-space-whatever through the close ups, fragmentation of space and de-framing in Dreyer and Bresson's cinema.

Critics are inclined to interpret J.M. Coetzee's novels in South African contexts, which Coetzee's own background seems to support. One has to bear in mind, however, that Coetzee tends to "see the South African situation as only one manifestation of a wider historical situation to do with colonialism, late colonialism, neo-colonialism." In other words, putting too much emphasis on South African contexts may diminish or undermine significance of Coetzee's multi-layered novels. In this context, the purpose of this paper is to highlight what Coetzee has to say about American colonialism/imperialism and to emphasize importance of "postcolonial rhetoric of simultaneity" which is repeatedly shown in his fictional works. It gives a meticulous attention to and analyzes "Vietnam Project," the first novella of Dusklands, Coetzee's very first novel, which depicts and characterizes "what Chomsky in the context of Vietnam [War] called 'the backroom boys.'" "The Narrative of Jacobus Coetzee," "When a Woman Grows Older," and Diary of a Bad Year are occasionally brought into discussion as well. This kind of study seems timely and pertinent especially when we take into account the rampant American imperialism which has devastated and almost traumatized the world.
