Asymmetric Adjustment in Domestic Petroleum Prices Before and After the Opinet (국내석유제품가격의 국제유가 대칭성 분석 -Opinet(오피넷) 개통을 중심으로)

  • Opinet is the system that has announced the daily domestic petroleum price data from April 2008. This study's goal is to examine if the domestic petroleum(gasoline and diesel) prices adjust their prices asymmetrically comparing before-Opinet with after-Opinet. The results of this study found the evidence of asymmetric domestic petroleum prices before the Opinet and the evidence of symmetric domestic petroleum prices after the Opinet. Also the domestic petroleum prices after the Opinet adjust upward/downward nearly twice as fast when its actual value is below/above its equilibrium. According to this study, the domestic petroleum market works more efficiently than before.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) factors in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) context focusing on ashion apparel company. Especially, this study reveals whether a long term relationship is beneficial for all businesses regardless of negotiation power leverage. To this end, the mixed research methods that combined qualitative and quantitative approaches were conducted. The findings of this study are as follows: First, the research model which is CRMs for interactive relationship building were developed. Second, cause-and-effect relationships in the proposed model were partially supported depending on CRMs. The most effective CRMs offered are a guarantee of sales and a special discount. Customized products and quality, convenience, competitive pricing, and development of a product/system/service were effective to ultimately increase a switching cost.

A Study on Treatment Characteristics and Design of Ultra High Rate Method (Ultra High Rate(UHR) 법의 처리특성 및 설계에 관한 연구)

  • For the treatment of wastewater being discharged in large quantities as in these modern times, qualitative and quantitative concepts should be introduced in consideration of the recycling. In view of a qualitative concept, high rate aeration process is known as the most effective process up to now. However, Lee suggested UHR process showing the superiority over high rate process in treatment rate and quantity. Therefore, this study was performed to investigate the basic sphere of design and treatment quality, such as applicable $BOD_5$-loading and influent wastewater concentration of UHR process, based on Lee's suggestions1). Consequently, this process showed applicable $BOD_5$-loading of $2.2{\sim}7.0kg-BOD_5/kg-MLSS{\cdot}day$, exceeding three times or more of high rate process with maximum applicable loading of $2.25kg-BOD_5/kg-MLSS{\cdot}day$. Meanwhile, with the range of influent wastewater concentration from 200 to 450 mg/L. it showed the treatment rate from 94.7 to 97.3%, it indicated very good condition. In view of quantitative concept of treatment, UHR process is considered an epoch-making treatment process being superior to existing ones.

Detection of major genotypes combination by genotype matrix mapping (유전자 행렬 맵핑을 활용한 우수 유전자형 조합 선별)

  • It is important to identify the interaction of genes about human disease and characteristic value. Many studies as like logistic analysis, have associated being pursued, but, previous methods did not consider the sub-group of the genotypes. So, QTL interactions and the GMM (genotype matrix mapping) have been developed. In this study, we detect the superior genotype combination to have an impact on economic traits of Korean cattle based on the study over GMM method. Thus, we identified interaction effects of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) responsible for average daily gain(ADG), marbling score (MS), carcass cold weight (CWT), longissimus muscle dorsiarea (LMA) using GMM method. In addition, we examine significance of the major genotype combination selected by implementing permutation test of the F-measure which was not obtained by Sachiko et al.

  • In Basel II compliance, internal rating systems are allowed for banks to enhance the self control and the validation of the system are getting more important. The validation methods are composed of qualitative test and quantitative test, three basic standards of which are discriminatory power, stability and calibration. The aim of this article is to review the quantitative tests for calibration and find a new method for it. These methods for discrimination between forecasted PD and observed PD include binomial test, chi square test, Brier score, traffic lights approach, normal test and extended traffic lights approach. We introduce a modified extended traffic lights approach considering asset correlations.

Trends of Mathematics Education Research and Mixed Methods - Focusing on Domestic Mathematics Education Journals for the Last 10 years (수학교육연구 및 혼합 연구방법 동향 - 최근 10년간 발표된 국내 학술지 논문을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of research is to analyze research trends and methods in a total of 709 studies published in five domestic mathematics education journals issued by Korea Citation Index (KCI) for the last 10 years (2003-2013) and strands in stages of research methods among mixed methods studies. As a result, the majority of articles in the five journals used either qualitative or quantitative methods and mixed methods research was less than 10 % of the total number of studies. The majority of mixed methods was research equally mixing qualitative and quantitative methods. The mixed methods research consisted primarily of quantitative with descriptive statistics and very little qualitative with conceptual framework based on theoretical background. Our results provide not only trends of the current research methods, but also implications for various future research paradigms in mathematics education.

Bayesian Model Selection for Linkage Analyses: Considering Collinear Predictors (연관분석을 위한 베이지안 모형 선택: 상호상관성 변수를 중심으로)

  • We identify the correct chromosome and locate the corresponding markers close to the QTL in the linkage analysis of a quantitative trait by using the SSVS method. We consider several markers linked to the QTL, as well as to each oyher and thus the i.b.d. values at these loci generate collinear predictors to be evaluated when using the SSVS approach. The results on considering only closely linked markers to two QTL simultaneously showed clear evidence in favor of the closest marker to the QTL considered over other markers. The results of the analysis of collinear markers with SSVS showeed high concordance to those obtained using traditional multiple regression. We conclude based on this simulation study that the SSVS is quite useful to identify linkage with multiple linked markers simultaneously for a complex quantitative trait.

Conditions and potentials of Korean history research based on 'big data' analysis: the beginning of 'digital history' ('빅데이터' 분석 기반 한국사 연구의 현황과 가능성: 디지털 역사학의 시작)

  • This paper explores the conditions and potential of newly designed and tried methodology of big data analysis that apply to Korean history subject matter. In order to advance them, we need to pay more attention to quantitative analysis methodologies over pre-existing qualitative analysis. To obtain our new challenge, I propose 'digital history' methods along with associated disciplines such as linguistics and computer science, data science and statistics, and visualization techniques. As one example, I apply interdisciplinary convergence approaches to the principle and mechanism of elite reproduction during the Korean medieval age. I propose how to compensate for a lack of historical material by applying a semi-supervised learning method, how to create a database that utilizes text-mining techniques, how to analyze quantitative data with statistical methods, and how to indicate analytical outcomes with intuitive visualization.
