Influence of Cation Part of Ionic Liquids on Silver Particle Structure (이온성액체의 양이온이 은 입자 구조 형성에 미치는 영향)

  • Silver particles were synthesized by chemical reduction with ionic liquids. Structure of silver particles were significantly affected by the cation parts of the ionic liquids. With increasing the length of the cation part, the smaller silver particles were formed regardless of the anion type. This is mainly attributed to the different stability of the ionic liquid structure formed by physical bond between cation parts. Among seven ionic liquids, [Omim][$PF_6$] was the most effective for synthesizing silver particles.

Comparison of Some Physicochemical Properties and Adsorption of Organic Cations between Ca- and Na-bentonites (Ca-형 및 Na-형 벤토나이트의 제반 물성 및 유기양이온 흡착비교)

  • Ca-type and Na-type bentonites show the great difference of some physicochemical properties. Na exchanged bentonite is mainly used for the foundry and construction materials in domestic utilization. This study tries to identify in detail the differences of some physicochemical properties and thermal properties between Ca-type and Na-type bentonites. Also the adsorption behavior and interlayer expansion for the HDTMA (Hexadecyltrimethylammonium) exchanged and CP (Cetylprydinium) exchanged Ca-type and Na-type bentonites were compared. Na-type bentonite shows the strong alkaline property, high viscosity and swelling compared to Ca-type bentonite. However, two types are very similar for the cation exchange capacity and MB (Methylene Blue) adsorption. The decomposition of adsorbed and interlayer water of Na-type bentonite is caused in the lower temperature than Ca-type bentonite. And Ca-type bentonite shows the decomposition of structural water in the lower temperature than Na-type bentonite. The interlayer expansion of montmorillonite resulted to the intercalation of HDTMA and CP into bentonite is so strongly caused from 12~15 $\AA$ to $40\AA$ (basal spacing). HDTMA-bentonite is almost expanded to $37~38\AA$ when 200% CEC equivalent amount of HDTMA is added, and CP-bentonite is fullly expanded to 40 $\AA$ in the 140% CEC equivalent amount of CP It means that CP causes the stronger interlayer expansion of montmorillonite and easier adsorption than HDTMA. Adsorption behaviors of CP into bentonite is so stable and continuously sorbed in the proportion to the treatment of amount until 200% of the CEC equivalents. CP-bentonite shows the same adsorption behavior regardless of Ca-type or Na-type montmorillonite.

  • This pot experiment was undertaken to find out the optimum fertilization ratios of total anions to total cations, ${\Sigma}A/{\Sigma}C$, and the optimum application rates of total macro-nutrients in various soil conditions. Soil samples were collected from uncultivated mountains and hills where grassland development was under consideration. 1. The optimum application ratios of ${\Sigma}A/{\Sigma}C$ and the optimum application rates of total macro-nutrients for the high yields of mixed grass-clover sward in various grassland soils were computed by the Hom$\acute{e}$s systematic variation techniqu.e. 2. With respect to the optimum application ratios of ${\Sigma}A/{\Sigma}C$ in fertilization in a mixed grass-clover sward, the grass yield and botanical composition were distinctly proportional to ${\Sigma}A$ wheras the regume yield and botanical composition were proportional to ${\Sigma}C$. 3. The optimum fertilization rates of total macro-nutrients for the high legume yields were depended upon ${\Sigma}A/{\Sigma}C$ ratios. These optimum rates were in proportional to ${\Sigma}C$ ratios and were inversely proportional to ${\Sigma}A$ ratios. 4. The efficiencies of ${\Sigma}A$ and ${\Sigma}C$ in relation to the grass and grass plus legume yields were highest with the low ratios of each other and the low fertilization rates of total macronutrients. The ${\Sigma}A$ effieiency in the legume yield tended to be similar to that of ${\Sigma}A$ related to the grass yield noted above except Daegu soil. The ${\Sigma}C$ efficiency, however, was proportional to the ${\Sigma}C$ ratio, although that was varied with the fertilization rates of total macro-nutrients and with the kinds of soils. 5. The yield of mixed forages, yield component, and botanical composition in a mixed sward were greatly influenced by the ${\Sigma}A/{\Sigma}C$ ratios, the fertilization rates of total macronutrients, and the interactions of ratio and rate noted above. In addition, these effects were generally different and opposite according to grass and legume.

  • This study investigated effects of acid deposition on cation contents of rinus densiflora needles. The results of the investigation were as follows: By regression the ion balance was shown to be 1.01 of slope and 0.973 of $R^2$. The volume weighted average pH measurements of wet deposition in Seoul from January to December, 2001, 2002 and 2003 were: pH 5.1, pH 5.0 and pH 4.8, respectively. The annual wet deposition ion amount was shown to gradually increase during this study period. Cation content of needles in the fall season was higher than during other seasons, but $Al^{3+}$ ion contents showed nodifferences among seasons. When ion concentrations of wet deposition were higher, cation contents of needles were generally lower.

  • 보통 포틀랜드 시멘트와 플라이애쉬, 슬래그를 혼합한 혼합시멘트 경화체를 이용하여 이온 확산에 미치는 혼합재의 영향과 양이온 공존시 염소이온의 확산에 대하여 고찰하였다. 겉보기 이온확산계수가 보통 포틀랜드의 시멘트보다 플라이애쉬와 슬래그를 혼합한 시멘트 경화체가 약 10-3배로 매우 낮은 값을 나타내었다. 이것은 포졸란 반응에 의해 많은 CSH 수화물이 capillary pore에 형성되어 macro pore가 감소되고 micro pore가 증가되어 이온 확산에 대한 저항이 커졌기 때문이다. 또한, Mg2+이온 공존시에 염소이온의 확산은 증가되었다.

  • The test did for the determine the optimized ratio of cation to anion in mixed ion exchange demineralizers. Binary, ternary, quaternary, and quinary cation and anion adsorption was performed to develop a comprehensive experimental data set from small-volume batch tests to obtain the selectivity coefficients of many cations and anions. The quantitative run time might be estimated by such ion exchange models as semi-empirical mass action and surface complexation models. The demineralizer can be used longer by increasing the ratios of cation to anion exchange resins in the bed.

  • Mixed-bed ion exchange performance was studied experimentally with variations of cation to anion resin ratio, resin weight and temperature at ultralow sodium chloride solution concentrations of less than $1.0{\times}10^{-4}M$. Analyzing the effluent concentration histories the performance test was examined as a function of tested solution volume for a laboratory-scale continuous flow column until both the cation and anion-exchange resins were exhausted. Initial leakage was observed for both cation and anion breakthrough curves, but serious at cation breakthrough curve because of low selectivity coefficient. The slope of breakthrough curve was affected by selectivity coefficient and temperature. The slope of anion breakthrough curve was steep because of the large selectivity coefficient, and ion exchange rates increased as temperature increased. The temperature effect decreased as the total volume was increased or as the resins were exhausted.

  • 타월은 소비자가 구매할 때 촉감을 중요시하므로 염색 후 가공 시 유연제를 사용한다. 그러나 반복 세탁 후에는 유연가공제의 탈착으로 초기의 유연성을 잃게 되고, 유연성 유지를 위해 후 가공시 유연제를 다량 사용할 경우 타월의 흡수성을 감소시키게 된다. 유연제는 이온성 별로 다양한 종류가 시판되고 있으나, 수중에서 음으로 하전된 면섬유와 이온결합이 가능한 양이온성 유연제가 가장 많이 사용되고 있다. 양이온성 유연제는 4급 암모늄 화합물로 항균효과도 부수적으로 타월에 부여한다. 본 연구에서는 반응성기를 도입한 양이온성 유연제를 합성하여 시판 유연제와 사용량에 따른 유연효과, 내세탁성을 비교하였으며, 또한 염색 후 유연가공한 타월의 색상변화도 조사하였다. 합성한 양이온성 유연제는 친수성의 특성도 유지하면서, 5회 세척 후에도 개선된 유연효과를 나타내었다.

Cation Exchange in Zeolites from the Guryong Mine (국내산 불석광물의 이온치환 특성 연구)

  • 경북 구룡포에 소재한 구룡광산에서 산출하는 불석(클리놉틸로라이트와 모데나이트의 집합체)에 대한 Pb2+, Cd2+, Zn2+, Co2+, Fe2+ 및 NH4+ 등 양이온의 치환성질을 알아보기 위하여 베치실험을 실시하였다. 60∼80 메쉬 및 230 메쉬의 시료를 사용하여 각각 50ppm의 농도를 가진 용액과 반응시켰다. 반응후의 용액은 AA 및 전극 (NH4+)으로 분석하여 치환양을 측정하였다. 본 연구결과 Pb2+와 NH4+가 다른 이온들보다 훨씬 높은 선택성을 보여 주었다. 불석에 대한 이온들의 선택성은 NH4+, Pb2+》Zn2+, Cu2-, Co2->Cd2-, Fe2+와 같다. 실험결과 불석시료가 용액으로부터 흡착한 양이 시료로부터 용액으로 추출된 양보다 훨씬 높게 나타나고 있는 바 이는 이온치환보다는 불석의 시브(sieve) 효과에 의한 이온흡착현상이 우세하게 일어났다는 것을 지시해준다. 본 실험은 이 불석이 중금속과 암모니아와 같은 오염물을 제거하는데 사용될 수 있음을 보여준다.

A Review Based on Ion Separation by Ion Exchange Membrane (이온교환막을 통한 이온분리에 대한 총설)

  • Ion exchange membrane (IEM) is an important class of membrane applied in batteries, fuel cells, chloride-alkali processes, etc to separate various mono and multivalent ions. The membrane process is based on the electrically driven force, green separation method, which is an emerging area in desalination of seawater and water treatment. Electrodialysis (ED) is a technique in which cations and anions move selectively along the IEM. Anion exchange membrane (AEM) is one of the important components of the ED process which is critical to enhancing the process efficiency. The introduction of cross-linking in the IEM improves the ion-selective separation performance due to the reduction of free volume. During the desalination of seawater by reverse osmosis (RO) process, there is a lot of dissolved salt present in the concentrate of RO. So, the ED process consisting of a monovalent cation-selective membrane reduces fouling and improves membrane flux. This review is divided into three sections such as electrodialysis (ED), anion exchange membrane (AEM), and cation exchange membrane (CEM).
