  • 지금까지 뇌와 관련된 언어, 감정, 시각, 촉각 등 의학적 영역에서 뇌에 관한 연구들이 활발히 이루어져 왔다. 그러나 이러한 의학적, 심리학적 성과와 IT와의 융합 및 응용은 아직 초보적인 단계이다. 따라서 의학적으로 입증된 뇌 영역에서 발생하는 뇌파에 대해 보다 세밀한 분석 및 연구를 통해 실질적인 응용 가능한 BCI를 구현해보고자 한다.

  • A fuzzy controller for the evaluation of the quantization parameters in the H.263 coder has been introduced. We adopted a Mamdani fuzzy controller with centroid defuzzification. The inputs are variance, entropy, current motion vector and previous motion vector. This results is obtained a effective rate control technique using fuzzy Quantization.

수학교육학에서의 질적 연구

  • 교육학의 질적 연구는 문헌 연구, 면담 연구, 비참여 관찰 연구, 참여 관찰 연구로 분류한다. 문헌연구에는 내용분석, 철학적 연구, 역사학적 연구, 문학적 비평이 들어가고, 면담연구에는 구술사, 전기, 탐문(探問) 저널리즘 등이 포함되고, 비참여 관찰연구에는 전문적 감정(鑑定), 인간의 종적 특성 연구, 관찰자 연구, 비개입적 행동 연구 등이 포함된다. 마지막으로 참여 관찰연구는 일반적 현장연구, 문화 기술적 연구가 포함된다. 질적 연구는 사람, 사물, 현상의 범주화나 수량화가 가해지기 이전의 상태, 즉 '있는 그대로'의 상태에 최대한 접근하는 방법으로써, 고정관념을 깨고 기존의 이론을 최대한 유보한 채 연구에 임하는 것으로 최근에 발달한 인문사회과학적 연구방법이다. 질적 인식이 자연언어에 주로 의존하는 데 비해 양적 인식은 인공언어에 많이 의존한다. 수식과 도형, 부호등은 대표적인 인공언어이다. 모든 사물이 질과 양의 속성을 다 가지고 있듯이 모든 연구는 질적 과정과 양적 과정을 다 포함하고 있다. 질적이냐, 양적이냐 하는 구분은 연구방법론의 문제인데 연구방법론은 연구논리와 연구기법을 포함한다. 본 연구는 인공언어인 수와 식에만 익숙한 수학교육에서, 질적 연구가 왜 필요한지, 어떤 특성이 있는지 논의함으로써 수학교육의 새로운 방법론을 제시하고자 한다.

  • 본 논문은 이동 통신 및 IEEE 802.lla WLAN에서 사용하고 있는 컨벌루셔널 부호의 복호기인 비터비 복호기의 SMU(Survivor Metric Unit)의 최적 메모리 제어에 관한 연구이다. 비터비 복호기기 구조는 크게 BMU, ACSU, SMU부로 구성된다. 이때 SMU부는 최적의 경로를 역추적 하여 최종 복호 데이터를 출력해 주는 블록으로, 역추적 길이에 따라 메모리 사용 양과 복호 성능이 좌우된다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 최적 메모리 제어 알고리즘을 제안함으로써 복호 속도의 향상과 메모리 사용 양을 줄이는 방법을 제안한다. 제안 알고리즘의 성능을 검증하기 위해 기존의 비터비 복호기와 역추적 길이에 따른 비터비 복호기의 성능을 실험을 통해 분석함으로써 제안 방법의 객관적인 성능을 분석한다.

Fast Non-Adjacent Form (NAF) Conversion through a Bit-Stream Scan (비트열 스캔을 통한 고속의 Non-Adjacent Form (NAF) 변환)

  • As a special form of the signed-digit representation, the NAF(non-adjacent form) minimizes the hamming weight by reducing the average density of the non-zero bits from the binary representation of the positive integer k. Due to this advantage, the NAF is used in various fields; in particular, it is actively used in cryptology. The existing NAF-conversion algorithm, however, is problematic because the conversion speed decreases when the LSB(least significant bit) frequently becomes "1" during the binary positive integer conversion process. This paper suggests a method for the improvement of the NAF-conversion speed for which the problems that occur in the existing NAF-conversion process are solved. To verify the performance improvement of the algorithm, the CPU cycle for the various inputs were measured on the ATmega128, a low-performance 8-bit microprocessor. The results of this study show that, compared with the existing algorithm, the suggested algorithm not only improved the processing speed of the major patterns by 20% or more on average, but it also reduced the NAF-conversion time by 13% or more.

Dividend tax rate, dividend policy, ownership structure, and stock valuation (배당소득세율, 배당정책, 소유구조와 주식가치평가)

  • This study examine the effects of changes in the dividend income tax rates, the corporate dividend policy, and the ownership structure on the stock valuation. The empirical findings indicate that : (1)firm's ownership structure is positively correlated with stock return ; (2) the interaction of firm's ownership structure and the dividend policy is positively correlated with stock return ; (3) the interaction of the changes in the dividend income tax rates and dividend policy is correlated with stock return ; (4) the interaction of the changes in the dividend income tax rates and firm's ownership structure is correlated with stock return ; (5) the interaction of the increases in the dividend income tax rates, firm's ownership structure, and the dividend policy is positively correlated with stock return. This suggests that non-taxing of capital gains provide tax shelters to individual investors and investors prefer non-taxing income to dividend income.

  • EZW, also known as Embedded Zerotree Wavelet, is a technique that allows transforming original images into wavelet, then again compressing images using the transformed data. This algorithm demonstrates a simple structure and remarkable effectiveness. This paper has reformed the EZW to improve a compression efficiency. Fundamentally, EZW evaluates the priority level of wavelet-transformed data and stores them into four different categories considering the priority level of the data as well as their location information. The four categories are represented as the symbols P, N, Z, and T. Here, P and N correspond to the volume of data and the priority level whereas Z and T show the location information of data. Each letter is stored through the process of dominant pass. However, here is when the data of Z and T are stored redundantly which lead to unnecessary increase of data volume. In this paper, we propose a modified version of Embedded Zerotree Wavelet algorithm, which is designed to efficiently reduce the volume of redundantly stored data using four additionally inserted symbols. We name it EEZW, Extended Embedded Zerotree Wavelet. The proposed algorithm demonstrates the efficiency verified by a number of image and confirms an outstanding result through the PSNR(Peak Signal To Noise Rate) values, which measure their quality of images.

  • This paper is concerned with the CR-CMA (Coordinate Reduction-Constant Modulus Algorithm) adaptive equalization algorithm using the coordinate reduction in order to improve the convergence characteristic and residual intersymbol interference which are used as the performance index for an adaptive equalizer. The equalizer is used to reduce the distortion caused by the intersymbol interference on the wireless and the wired band-limited channel that connect the transmitting system and receiving system. The CMA is widely known as the representative algorithm for equalization. In order to transmitting the mass information with a high speed through the channels, a fast convergence speed in the equalizer performance that is able to minimize overhead needed for equalization is acquired. In this paper, we introduce the new cost function to reduce the constellation of received signal at the input stage of a equalizer. It reduce the error at the steady equalization state. By the computer simulation, we confirmed that the proposed CR-CMA algorithm has the faster convergence speed and the smaller residual intersymbole interference than the conventional CMA.

Transcoding Algorithm for SMV and G.729A Vocoders via Direct Parameter Transformation (G.729A와 SMV 음성부호화기를 위한 파라미터 직접 변환 방식의 상호부호화 알고리듬)

  • In this paper, a novel transcoding algorithm for the G.729A and the Selectable Mode Vocoder(SMV) vocoders via direct parameter transformation is proposed. In contrast to the conventional tandem transcoding algorithm, the proposed algorithm converts the parameters of one coder to the other without going through the decoding and encoding processes. In transcoder from SMV to G.729A, LSP conversion algorithm, pitch delay conversion algorithm and transcoding algorithm in lower rate are proposed, and in transcoder from G.729A to SMV, LSP conversion algorithm, pitch delay conversion algorithm and rate selection algorithm are proposed. Evaluation results show that while exhibiting better computational and delay characteristics, the proposed algorithm produces equivalent or Improved speech quality to that produced by the tandem transcoding algorithm.

Distributed Video Coding based on Adaptive Block Quantization Using Received Motion Vectors (수신된 움직임 벡터를 이용한 적응적 블록 양자화 기반 분산 비디오 코딩 방법)

  • In this paper, we propose an adaptive block quantization method. The propose method perfrect reconstructs side information without high complexity in the encoder side, as transmitting motion vectors from a decoder to an encoder side. Also, at the encoder side, residual signals between reconstructed side information and original frame are adaptively quantized to minimize parity bits to be transmitted to the decoder. The proposed method can effectively allocate bits based on bit error rate of side information. Also, we can achieved bit-saving by transmission of parity bits based on the error correction ability of the LDPC channel decoder, because we can know bit error rate and positions of error bit in encoder side. Experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves bit-saving by around 66% and delay of feedback channel, compared with the convntional algorithm.
