  • The amount of by-product from sulphur increases in domestic industrial facilities. However, the amount of its consumption is limited so that the amount of unused sulphur continues to increase. Therefore, in this study, the use sulfur polymer as the concrete surface protecting material was conducted. The compressive strength showed that as the substitution ratio of filler increased up to 40%, the compressive strength also increased. A high compressive strength was shown at the curing temperature of $40^{\circ}C$ (SS, FA) and $60^{\circ}C$ (OPC) according to the type of filler. The difference of compressive strength between air dry curing and water curing was insignificant so that there was no significant influence of moisture during curing process. The evaluation result of bond strength showed that the highest bond strength was shown at the air-dry condition of $40^{\circ}C$ regardless of type of filler. Bonding didn't occur properly during water curing in comparison to air dry curing. Also, in case of the specimen cured at $60^{\circ}C$, discoloration and hair cracks appeared due to the influence of temperature, and the highest bond strength was shown at the substitution ratio of 20% (SS, FA) and 30% (OPC) according to the type of filler. The releasing test result of harmful substance showed that no harmful substance was released, so there is no harmfulness in the surface protecting material using sulfur polymer. As a conclusion drawn in this study, it is most appropriate to substitute silica by approximately 20%, mix and cure at the air-dry condition of $40^{\circ}C$ in order to use sulfur polymer as the surface protecting material.

  • The present research examined heat insulation performance according to change of various laid construction conditions of double bubble sheet being used as material for heat insulation & curing construction of cold weather concrete, and its results are as follows. First, the change in a laid period of bubble sheet within 4 hours and the change in water content inside bubble sheet overall showed similar temperature history and maturity without a big difference in terms of the temperature history of concrete according to construction factors, but it could be confirmed that when a structure was thin or several bubble sheets are laid, requisites unfavorable for initial curing of concrete can occur if a lagger distance between sheets is generated. In terms of the compressive strength of concrete core specimens, it appeared that the initial compressive strength is declined when conditions unfavorable for concrete curing such as delay of a laid period of bubble sheets, induction of large distance between sheets, increase of water content inside bubble sheets and thinness of a structure of placing concrete, etc. were applied, but it appeared that as its age passes, the difference becomes small.

  • In recent years, the early strength of concrete is important in order to shorten the time of form removal at the construction site. The purpose of this study is to analyze the moment of form removal as investigating the amount of cement contents and the physical properties and strength of the concrete according to types of admixture in the curing temperature of $10^{\circ}C$ for concrete of 21 to 27 MPa. As a result, it was found that compressive strength of concrete could not be secured 5 MPa by 36 hours even if the amount of cement contents were increased to $360kg/m^3$ with plain admixture. Also, it was confirmed that the strength improvement rate was excellent when using the accelerating agent with polycarboxylic acid type, and the moment of compressive strength of 5 MPa was estimated at 30 hours.

  • In this research, the surface covered curing method using the double-layered bubble sheet was evaluated. This double-layered bubble sheet has outstanding insulating performance with its low heat conductivity and high economic feasibility with its high durability. However, in the case of wall-typed building construction, the area of exposed rebar is curious on curing performance with the double-layered bubble sheet in spite of the double-layered bubble sheet showed favorable performance for slab. Therefore, in this research, regarding the actually constructed wall-typed apartment building, the most efficient curing method was suggested based on the evaluation of curing performance depending on temperature distribution depending on various location of covered or exposed rebar. As a result, the D method was determined as the most efficient curing method without any concern of early-age frost damage. However, by considering easiness of construction, the B method of covering the pieced double-layered bubble sheet on gap between rebars can be another option of desired result.

  • In this study, thermal stress analysis are carried out considering material properties, curing condition, ambient temperature, and casting date of the mass concrete placed in bottom slab and side wall of the in-ground type LNG tank as a super massive structure. Also, based on the numerical results, cracking possibility is predicted and counter measures to prevent the cracking are proposed. For the tasks, two optimum mix proportions were selected. From the results of the thermal stress analysis, the through crack index of 1.2 was satisfied for separately caste concrete lots except for the bottom slab caste in 2 separate sequences. For the double caste bottom slab, it is necessary introduce counter measures such as pre-cooling prior to the site construction. Also, another crack preventive measure is to lower the initial casting temperature by $25^{\circ}C$ or less to satisfy 1.2 through crack index criterion. In the $1^{st}$ and $2^{nd}$ caste bottom slab, the surface crack index was over 1.2. Therefore, the surface cracks can be controlled by implementing the curing conditions proposed in this study. Since the side wall's surface crack index was over 1.0, it is safe to assume that the counter preventive measures can control width and number of cracks.

  • Maturity is expressed as the integral of time and temperature of concrete above a datum temperature. The maturity concept proposes that concrete of the same mix at the same maturity has the same strength, whatever combination of temperature and time makes up that maturity. In this study, the Nurse-Saul function which was proposed to account for the effects of temperature and time on strength developrnent is used in computing maturity. After existing various functions are considered to relate concrete strength to the maturity value, new strength-maturity function is proposed. Tests ;ire conducted in order to determine d datum temperature and compare prechction value with measured concrete strength. The constants in proposed prediction equation are determined from test results, and the equation is adopted to predict the strength of slab. The slab was cast in the laboratory from the same batch of mold, and cores are cut from slab in order to estimate the actual strength. These values are used to compare with predicted value. The present study allows more realistic determination of early-age strength of concrete and can be efficiently used to control the quality in actual construction.

  • In this study, the results of applying cold weather concreting mixed with Accelerator for Freeze Protection(AFP) to full scale structures are presented. Since the determination of W/C and amount of AFP significantly have an effect on strength gain and protection of frost damage in early, a full investigation is needed to determine these values at stage of nux design. The flowability of fresh cold weather concreting with AFP was similar to the same W/C. Lower loss of workability and initial slump flow of concrete using superplasticizer of polycarboxylic ester than that of melamine sulphonate showed that polycarboxylic ester was more effective on elapsed time. Temperature histories of specimens located in insulation boxes at the site was similar to that of structures. Thus, it is cleared that simple adiabatic curing method is effective for evaluating in-place concrete strength than specimens cured by sealing method. The investigation results of development of compressive strength of cold weather concreting included AFP with curing methods by logistic curves indicated that AFP can be effective to gain strength at lower temperature than normal curing temperature. In field testing, vinyl sheets were placed over the concrete sections and AFP enabled concrete to gain $5N/{mm}^2$ to protect frost damage in early ages and specified compressive strength of concrete at 28 days under average temperature of $-2^{\circ}C$ (lowest temperature was $-12^{\circ}C$) during site application.

  • Since the 3D printing mortar is exposed to the atmosphere immediately after printing, moisture is largely evaporated from the surface of the layer. The evaporation of moisture on the surface of the layer greatly causes drying shrinkage and increases the risk of cracking and damage to the structure due to drying shrinkage. This study experimentally evaluated the shrinkage behavior of the initial age using the mortar used for 3D printing. The change in shrinkage was evaluated by comparing the shrinkage of the specimen cured by the sealing method and the atmospheric exposure method. In addition, compared with the case where type 1 cement was used 100%, the shrinkage amount was evaluated when 20% of fly ash was replaced and 10% of silica fume was used. In particular, the effect of three chemical admixtures applied using 3D printing on shrinkage was evaluated experimentally. When fly ash and silica fume were used, the shrinkage amount increased by 60 - 110% compared to the case when type 1 cement was used. The application of viscosity modifiers and shrinkage reducers reduced the shrinkage by at least 18% and at most 70% depending on the curing conditions. The temperature of the specimen temporarily decreased to 15 ℃ at the beginning of curing, and the correlation between the internal temperature of the specimen and the shrinkage behavior was observed.

  • In this study, in order to develop ultra rapid hardening mortar(URHM) for tunnel repairs using bottom ash of low recycle ratio and Admixture as Eco concept, watertightness and durability properties of URHM on temperature condition of construction field were performed. Test result, seepage quantity and water absorption coefficient regarding watertightness of URHM were as in the following : series II > series I. Seepage quantity for the standard condition were smaller than low temperatures. all specimens were satisfied below 20g as standards of seepage quantity on KS F 4042. Because of the decrease of unit cement content by to replacement of blast furnace slag, the neutrlization resistance for durability properties was reduced. The result of alkali resistance and acide resistance, compressive strengths for specimens soaked in calcium hydroxide solution of seriesI were lower than compressive strengths for specimens not soaked. On the other hand, the case of series II show that the deterioration of compressive strengths for specimens was not almost showed. Compressive strengths of specimens soaked were similar with specimens not soaked except series II-C in $5^{\circ}C$. Therefore, specimens using both blast furnace slag and bottom ash were good in alkali resistance and acide resistance.

  • In this study, temperature profile of the fly ash concrete were studied in accordance with the change of heating curing method combination for the slab concrete in order to develop efficient protection method of the concrete subjected to $-20^{\circ}C$. The slab concretes with the size of $1200mm{\times}600mm{\times}200mm$ were fabricated with W/B of 50% and exposed to $-20^{\circ}C$ for 7 days. Five different combinations of heat curing methods were applied to the slab concrete specimen; two combinations of heat supplying by electrical heater and surface heat insulation material such as polyethylene film and quadrupled layer bubble sheet based on heat enclosure installment; three combinations of heating coil embedment and surface heat insulation materials such as polyethylene film, sawdust and quadrupled layer bubble sheet based on heat enclosure installment. Test results showed that by applying both heating coil and bubble sheet and heat enclosure, the concrete exposed to $-20^{\circ}C$ can be effectively protected from early-age frost damage.
