A clinical study of Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang (양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯) 활용(活用)에 대(對)한 임상적(臨床的) 연구(硏究))

  • Background and Purpose : We intended to be helpful to understand constitutional symptoms of a disease and an application of the prescription through a clinical study of Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang. Methods : We studied 65 patients(40 men and 25 women) treated with Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang in constitutional clinic of Dongguk Pundang Oriental Hospital. And then we investigated the characteristics of Yangkyuksanwhatang treated patients, remedial values, onset of action and side effects. Results: Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang was used in all age groups both men and women. There were 37 kinds of chief complaints including chest discomfort, numbness of hands and feet, motor disturbance and skin disease etc. The distributions of remedial values were slightly improved(58.5%), much improved(12.3%), no improved(29.3%) and there was no aggravated patient. Using the prescription, mostly I prescribed only Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang without any changing, and added some herbs to the prescription according to the symptoms of a disease. Soyangin Yangkyuksanwhatang was affected in remedial values by the addition and subtraction of herbs. The onset of action in young age group was shorter than old age group. Side effects were palpitation, abdominal pain and indigestion etc.

  • 1. Objectives This study was designed to investigate the effect of Yanggyuksanhwa-tang(凉膈散火湯) to twelve hyperhidrosis patients. 2. Methods From May, 2008 to August, 2010, we treated hyperhidrosis patients with Yanggyuksanhwa-tang(凉膈散火湯). We survey demographic characters, symptoms of patients and efficacy of Yanggyuksanhwa-tang(凉膈散火湯). 3. Results 1) Twenties, thirties and males were more suffer from hyperhidrosis. 2) The patients who had dysuria got treatment efficacy negatively. 3) Treatment efficacy was affected by number of herbal medicine positively. 4. Conclusions This study shows that Yanggyuksanhwa-tang(凉膈散火湯) has effect to hyperhidrosis in Soeyangin. Treatment efficacy was affected by number of herbal medicine significantly.

Clinical Study about the Diabetes Mellitus Patients Administration of Yangkyuksanwha-tang (소양인 당뇨병환자에 양격산화탕을 투여한 증례)

  • Backgroud and Purpose ; I intented to be helpful to treat diabetes through a clinical study of effect of soyangin Yangkyuksanwha-tang(凉膈散火湯). Methods : I studied 5 patients with upper diabetes who were diagnosed by Soyangin at department of Sasang constitutional Medicine in Dongeui Oriental Hospital during 1 year from August. 2001 to July. 2002. and then I investigated the clinical symptoms of the diabetics and analyzed level of examination after administration of Yangkyuksanwha-tang. Results and Conclusion ; Yangkyuksanwha-tang was administered to five diabetic patients, So-yang-in for 8 weeks. The symptoms such as frequent urination(P<0.05), thirst with frequent drinking water(P<0.01) have improved after the treatment. As results, level of FBS(P<0.01), total protein(P<0.05) and blood pressure(P<0.05) significantly decreased after administration of Yangkyuksanwha-tang.

A clinical report on the Byun-jo had grown worse after cerebral infarction of patient treated with Soyangin-yanggueksanwha-tang (번조증환자(煩躁證患者)의 중풍이후(中風以後) 악화(惡化)된 번조증(煩躁證)에 소양인(少陽人) 양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)을 통한 증례(證例))

  • In oriental medicine, Byun-jo(煩躁) is including in insomnia, restless, uneasiness, chest discomfort, irritation et all. Byun-jo is one of symptom in Soyangin(少陽人)(one of human type in Sasang constitutional medicine(四象醫學) the lower chest-overheated disease(胸膈熱證). In the book 'dongyi soose bowon(東醫壽世保元)', Soyangin Yanggueksanwha-tang(凉膈散火湯) is used at Soyangin the lower chest-overheated disease. One patient usually who had suffered from chest discomfort, insomnia of Byun-jo, after cerebral infarction the symptom of Byun-jo had grown worse, the patient was classified as Soyangin by somatotype, personality, therefore the patient treated with Soyangin Yanggueksanwha-tang for 10days, and the patient improved in clinical symptoms. so we report it for the better treatment.

The Origin, Changes and Compositive Principles of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang (양격산화탕(凉膈散火湯)의 기원(基源), 변천과정(變遷過程) 및 구성원리(構成原理))

  • 1. Objectives: This paper investigates the origin, the progressive changes and the constructive principles of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang (凉膈散火湯). 2. Methods: Yangkyuksanhwa-tang and other related prescriptions were analyzed in terms of their pathological indications, based on previous literature including "Donguisusebowon Chobongwon (東醫壽世保元 草本卷)", "Donguisusebowon Gabobon (東醫壽世保元 甲午本)", "Donguisusebowon Sinchukbon (東醫壽世保元 辛丑本)" and "Dongmuyugo (東武遺稿)". 3. Results and Conclusion: 1) The Yangkyuksanhwa-tang most likely originates from Sodokeum, Yangkyuksan, Baekho-tang and Indongdeung. 2) Sodoksanhwa-tang introduced in "Donguisusebowon Chobongwon (東醫壽世保元 草本卷)" progressively transformed into Chungyangsanghwa-tang ("Donguisusebowon Gabobon (東醫壽世保元 甲午本)") and ultimately into Yangkyuksanhwa-tang ("Donguisusebowon Sinchukbon (東醫壽世保元 辛丑本)"), a prescription appropriate for usage in the Sangso symptomatology (上消證). 3) Yangkyuksanhwa-tang is composed of 9 herbs. Of these, Schixonepetae herba(荊芥), Ledebouriellae Radix(防風), Forsythiae fructus(連翹), Menthae Herba(薄荷), Gardeniae fructus(梔子) scatter the Hwa-qi(火氣), and Rehmanniae Radix(生地黃), Gypsum fibrosum(石膏), Anemarrhenae(知母) put off the Stomach-heat(胃熱), whereas Lonicerae caulis(忍冬藤) support the prevention of carbunculosis(癰疽).

  • 1. Objectives: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effects of Yangkyuksanhwa-tang which is based on sasang constitutional medicine for dermatitis as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis. 2. Methods: This two patients were treated by Soyangin's constitutional medications according to the result of sasang constitutional diagnosis. We evaluated the severity in dermatitis that two methods ; doctor's view and patient's subjective itching. 3. Results & Conclusoins: This cases study shows an efficent result of using Yangkyuksanhwa-tang in treatment of dermatitis as psoriasis, atopic dermatitis.

  • Insomnia is a temporary or continuous condition in which one has difficulty sleeping, due to physical impediments or physical problems. Because insomnia does harms to a labor power or imposes mental and physical burden on a patient, we should pay attention to this disease. This case is about a patient who was 62 years old man with a chronic insomnia since 1996, inspite of no past history about psychical disease. He had sufferred from a cerebral infarction and hypertension since March. 2002. and was hospitalized in Sangji University korean medicine hospital, 25. June. 2002. This patient had been treated by herb-med, Yanggyuksanhwatang for 4 weeks and showed an improvement. This paper describes the process and contents about the patient was cured.

  • Objectives : Yanggyuksanhwa-tang is a prescription used for cerebral infarction clinically. Methods : According to previous research data, the effect of Yanggyuksanhwa-tang on cerebral infarction, we induced cerebral infarction by middle cerebral artery occlusion(MCAO) in rats, and the rats were administered Yanggyuksanhwa-tang. Results: Infarct area, infarct volume were measured, and the level of elements such as c-Fos, Bax and caspase-3 in penumbra of infarct were expressed by immunohistochemical staining. Conclusion : Yanggyuksanhwa-tang showed neuroprotective effect through preventing neuronal cell apoptosis.
