Operational Strategy of Co-creation Platform: Comparative Analysis of Samsung Apps and Apple Appstore (Co-creation 플랫폼 운영 전략: 삼성 앱스와 애플 앱스토어 비교)

  • This study illustrates and compares the platform strategy of Apple and Samsung, which have been operating their own App stores, by using the $IISI^n$ model. Apple, the first mover of the platform, has employed closed strategy for quality control of the platform and customer loyalty. On the other hand, Samsung has employed open strategy for increasing the platform network effects. The result of this study showed that the platform strategy "Openness", which is a free entry of participants, and "Sharing" of created value, are important along with the excellent platform environment. As a pioneering study of the platform strategy for the co-creation, this research contributes to both theory and practice.

  • Recently, because the portable devices became popular, it is easily to see that each person carries more than just one portable device and the use of the smartphone stretches as time goes by. After the smartphone has propagated rapidly, the total usage of the smartphone applications has also increased. But still, each application store has a different platform to develop and to apply an application. The application store is divided into two big markets, the Android and the Apple. So the developers have to develop their application by using these two different platforms. Developing into two different platforms almost makes a double development cost. And for the other platforms, the weakness is, which still have a small market breadth like Bada is not about the cost, but about drawing the proper developers for the given platform application development. The web application is rising up as the solution to solve these problems, reducing the cost and time in developing applications for every platform. For web applications don't need to make a vassal relationship with application markets platform. Which makes it possible for an application to operate properly in every portable devices and reduces the time and cost in developing. Therefore, all of the application markets could be united into one big market through a protocol which will connect each web applications market. But, still there is no standard for the web application store and no current web application store is possible to interlock with other web application stores. In this paper, we are trying to suggest a protocol by developing a prototype and prove that this protocol can supplement the current weakness.

  • 스마트폰 환경에서 사이드로딩 이란, 플랫폼 사업자의 심사 및 승인없이 앱을 스마트폰에 설치하는 것을 의미한다. 즉, 공식적인 앱 마켓을 통하지 않고 제3의 앱마켓 또는 인터넷에서 설치파일을 직접 다운로드하여 설치하는 과정을 말한다. 여기서 제3의 앱마켓이란 플랫폼 사업자가 공식적으로 관리하는 앱 스토어를 제외한 모든 앱 마켓을 의미한다. 본고에서는 사이버 보안 관점에서 제3의 앱마켓 및 사이드로딩 허용여부로 인해 발생하는 사회적 문제점을 고찰하고자한다. 특히, 제3의 앱마켓 및 사이드로딩을 제도적으로 허용하고 있는 안드로이드 환경에서 발생하고 있는 사회적 문제점들을 바탕으로 iOS 환경에서도 제3의 앱마켓 및 사이드로딩이 허용되는 경우, 사이버 보안 관점에서 예상되는 사회적 문제점들을 알아보고자 한다.

  • By the recent success of the iPhone and the App Store, software developers from all over the world challenge to list their applications on the App Store and sell them worldwide. And major mobile companies in Korea are following the Apple by opening open markets to distribute software products running on their mobile devices. In this paper, we describe the development of an action game for iPod 'Hexa-Samkukgi'. The game is developed using Cocos2d engine.

  • Smartphone used to be an it item for only business people and early adaptors. However, the public interest towards Smartphone has been rapidly increased and now is spreading to the everyday life in general people. Variety of applications are introduced and registered in a day, but there are not enough apps with simple and useable interface. This is because that the applications are developed only in a view from developer and designer to match the splendor design and technical skills of apps not concerning the users. Therefore this study will analyze the value in use and design trend of registered apps in apps store to recognize the importance in use and also to discuss about a plan to apply this into the apps more effectively. In order to improve the mobile app usability, this study suggest that using intuitional icon, designing easy to use app navigation. This will lead to produce clear instruction for app developers and designers with more reliable effects in the future of Smartphone world.

  • IAP (In App Purchase) 컨텐츠는 스마트 기기의 앱 내부에서 진행되는 컨텐츠 구매로 최근 앱 스토어의 주요 수입원으로 떠오르고 있다. 많은 앱 개발사들이 사용자들이 쉽게 앱을 접할 수 있도록 앱 자체는 무료로 판매하고 주요한 기능이나 추가적인 기능을 IAP를 통해서만 구입하여 사용할 수 있도록 유도하고 있다. 이런 방식을 통해 사용자가 불법으로 앱을 다운로드 하더라도 추가적인 기능이나 컨텐츠를 이용하기 위해서는 IAP를 사용하여 대가를 지불하도록 유도하는 것이다. 그러나 앱 자체가 클라이언트 기능만을 수행하는 경우는 문제가 없지만 full-time으로 서버와 동기화를 해가며 동작하는 방식이 아닌 앱의 경우 IAP를 불법적으로 해킹하여 취득하는 것이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 불법적인 IAP 컨텐츠 획득을 방지하기 위하여 full-time으로 서버와 동기화를 하지 않으면서도 IAP 컨텐츠를 보호하기 위한 메커니즘을 제안한다.

  • 웹 기술은 계속적으로 진화하고 있다. 산업적 측면에서는 이종의 서비스들이 융합하는 것이 손쉬운 방안이 된다. 이러한 서비스들 제공에는 스마트폰의 공급이 매우 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 인터넷 서비스는 스마트폰 서비스를 효율적으로 제공하기 위한 진통을 격고 있다. 앱스토어에서 제공되는 앱(Application)서비스의 무차별적인 다운로드는 스마트 인터넷 환경의 위해요소로 존재하고 있다. 매쉬업 기술에 의한 보안 위협을 식별하고, 서비스에 대한 보안 요구 사항 및 기술에 대한 ITU-T SG17에서 진행되고 있는 표준화 동향을 소개한다.

Effects of Mobile App Updates on Mobile App Rankings: Free Apps in the App Store (모바일 앱의 업데이트가 모바일 앱의 순위에 미치는 영향: 앱 스토어의 무료 앱을 대상으로)

  • Mobile applications (apps) play a significant role in the proliferation of smartphones. According to statistics from Apple, 100 million apps were downloaded in 2008. Since then, the number of cumulative app downloads have increased exponentially. By October 2014, 85 billion apps had been downloaded worldwide. Many studies have attempted to determine the factors that drive app downloads. However, unlike previous studies, we examine the effects of app updates on app rankings. To achieve this goal, we collected data on rankings (gross rankings and category rankings), update contents, reviewer ratings, and number of reviews on apps listed in the App Store. We then categorized app updates into functionality, reliability, and convenience updates following the buying hierarchy model. We found that functionality updates had a positive effect on app gross ranking whereas reliability updates had a positive effect on category ranking. Our study is the first to explore the effects of update content on app ranking. Moreover, our study provides a practical implication for mobile app developers, who should consider app updates in their product development strategy.

  • The provision and application of public safety network in Korea is still insufficient for security response to the mobile app of public safety network in the stages of development, initial construction, demonstration, and initial service. The available terminals on the Disaster Safety Network (PS-LTE) are open, Android-based, dedicated terminals that potentially have vulnerabilities that can be used for a variety of mobile malware, requiring preemptive responses similar to FirstNet Certified in U.S and Google's Google Play Protect. In this paper, before listing the application service app on the public safety network mobile app store, we construct a data set for malicious and normal apps, extract features, select the most effective AI model, perform static and dynamic analysis, and analyze Based on the result, if it is not a malicious app, it is suggested to list it in the App Store. As it becomes essential to provide a service that blocks malicious behavior app listing in advance, it is essential to provide authorized authentication to minimize the security blind spot of the public safety network, and to provide certified apps for disaster safety and application service support. The safety of the public safety network can be secured.

  • 기존의 종이책은 다양한 스마트 모바일기기의 활발한 보급으로 인해 전용 단말기와 뷰어 앱(Veiwer App)을 통해 전자책(e-book)으로 서비스되고 있다. 최근에는 텍스트(Text) 중심의 전자책과 달리, 텍스트와 함께 동영상, 다양한 상호작용 요소를 중심으로 하는 앱북(App book)의 형태로 진화되고 있다. 아이패드(iPad)용 앱스토어(App Store)에서는 도서 관련 앱이 28%를 차지할 정도로 앱북 시장이 빠르게 성장함에도 불구하고, 여러 가지 전자책 전용 단말기, 뷰어 앱 UI(User Interface) 관련 연구들에 비해 앱북의 콘텐츠 및 UI에 대한 연구가 상대적으로 부족한 상황이다. 이에, 본 논문에서는 앱북 콘텐츠의 표시 방법에 따라 3개의 유형으로 분류하고, 대표 앱북을 선정하여, 콘텐츠의 객체 표시방법에 대해 분석하고, 상호작용 요소들을 분석하였다. 이를 통해, 객체 별 상호작용 요소를 고려한 전자잡지형 앱북의 콘텐츠 표시 방법 프레임워크를 설계하였다.
