Mite infestation rate of pet dogs with ear dermatoses (귀 피부병이 있는 애완견에서 진드기 감염률)

  • This study aimed to investigate the incidence of the canine ear dermatoses caused by mitts and the relativity of the causative mites of canine dermatoses to the pruritic dermatoses of the families possessing the pet dogs. Total 970 samples were collected from the lesional hairs and scales of the ear of pet dogs referred to Chung-Woon animal clinic in Seoul from January, 1990 to December, 1995. The mites were collected from the samples by means of the washing method . Presence of pruritic dermatoses in the families possessing the pet dog was evaluated. Among 2,147 mites collected from 970 samples, 2,117 specimens were Octonectes cwnotis and others were Scrcoptes conis (30 mites). O. cwnotis were found in 382 samples out of total 970 samples (39.4%) and S. cams were found in 3 samples (0.3%). Although two families out of 382 families that possessed the diseased pet dog by O. cwnotis had the family histories of pruritic dermatoses, their pruritic dermatoses were not related to the infestation by O. cwnotis. In conclusion, O. cwnotis, the most common canine mite producing pruritic ear dematoses, does not cause pruritic dermatoses in man.

  • This paper is to propose design and implementation methods of a pet dog management system that can effectively manage the pet dog in home through client such as a mobile terminal or a PC from remote location, in the absence of the owner in the house. Through this system, we can manage the dog efficiently via a series of monitoring and control functionalities of the dog such as observing of the dog's status, or feeding the dog, or taking the necessary measures on maintaining a healthy environment such as temperature/humidity sensing and turn on/off fans and lights, or sending SMS text to the owner from detection of the barking of the dog.

  • Recently, the number of pet-owning households drastically increased and many people took their pets as lifelong companion animals and look after them like their children. Pet business has continued to increase gradually and the need for pet supplies has increased, too. Though there are a variety of pet supplies in pet dog market which takes up many parts in the pet market, there is no design guideline on pet supplies. Thus, there are many wrong pet supplies design created by wrong idea of people. Therefore, this study aims to suggest the guideline on pet supplies design focusing on the pet-monitoring system among the various pet products. So, the pet-monitoring robot was designed to monitor pet simply using smartphone anywhere on the trip and feed by using bowl that control the signal. This study figured out types and function of existing IP camera, reflected the behavior and physical characteristics of pets and suggested the design guideline which is minimum required as pet-monitoring products. Also, trial product for which design guide was applied was produced to observe the pet behavior and identify problems while operating trial product. However, there was limit in securing data and study period to examine the satisfaction of various pets since the subject of this study was dog and it's required to conduct follow-up study by observing continuously and improving the problems in future to secure more data.

  • In this paper, we introduce a hybrid RFID reader to recognize the pets. There is no the RFID reader to recognize a different types of frequency simultaneously. The RFID reader with 134.2 KHz has disadvantages with limited recognition radius and direction. The developed reader is dual-frequency RFID reader (134.2 KHz, 13.56 MHz) that is capable of identifying the pets with a different types of tags. The prototype model in the field test shows that the recognition coverage increases compared to the imported reader.

  • 최근 애완견을 키우는 가정이 늘고 있다. 하지만 여러 가지 개인 사정들로 인하여 애완견이 집에 혼자 있게 되고 사료를 챙겨주기 어려운 경우가 있다. 이로 인해 강아지 호텔 등의 대책들이 나오고 있지만 그에 따른 문제점 또한 적지 않게 나타나고 있다. 현재 우리나라는 스마트 폰 보급률이 급성장하면서 현재 세계 스마트 폰 보급률 1위를 차지하고 있다. 이를 배경으로 본 논문에서는 스마트 폰의 어플리케이션을 통하여 원격으로 애완견에게 사료를 공급해줄 수 있는 시스템을 설계하고 구현하였다.

  • In this paper, it can be seen that the number of abandoned dogs increases every year through the statistics on the occurrence of abandoned animals. With the goal of reducing the number of stray dogs, a smart pet dog shoulder strap is implemented based on a real-time location tracking system using the ESP32 module and GPS sensor. It is an ESP32 module with a built-in Bluetooth module. It is input to the MCU using various sensors, and finally outputs to a smart-phone application, and communicates through the built-in blue-tooth module. In addition, it uses Neopixels to compensate the weaknesses at night through LED light emission, and automatically sets the warning distance to design a music playback system through the LED flashing effect and MP3 module. In addition, a smart pet dog shoulder strap was designed to help pet dog health care by measuring the moving distance according to the amount of activity through the gyro sensor.
