  • This paper presents a novel on-line trajectory optimization framework based on automatic time warping, which performs the time warping of a reference motion while optimizing character motion control. Unlike existing physics-based character animation methods where sampling times for a reference motion are uniform or fixed during optimization in general, our method considers the change of sampling times on top of the dynamics of character motion in the same optimization, which allows the character to effectively respond to external pushes with optimal time warping. In order to do so, we formulate an optimal control problem which takes into account both the full-body dynamics and the change of sampling time for a reference motion, and present a model predictive control framework that produces an optimal control policy for character motion and sampling time by repeatedly solving the problem for a fixed-span time window while shifting it along the time axis. Our experimental results show the robustness of our framework to external perturbations and the effectiveness on rhythmic motion synthesis in accordance with a given piece of background music.

  • This study aimed at examining the music world of the composer Muczynski, who played an important and meaningful role in the various experimental trends of music which began to appear in the early $20^{th}$ century, and his works, thereby understanding his relationship with the development of music of various genres today. In the study, his pieces of piano music among his works, which formed the basis for his music, were analyzed. The study examined stylistic characteristics, that is techniques of various types including form, melody, harmony, tonality, rhythm and structure, and introduced the composer's growth in terms of music and philosophical background. Muczynski, the composer who showed the characteristics of neoclassicism, neoromanticism and neobaroque in contrast to the various forms of the $20^{th}$ music, namely music of free styles including atonal music, twelve-tone technique, avant-garde music and electronic music, used traditional forms. However, the characteristics of his works are very free. In addition, in the 1960s, he participated in the production of documentary movie music, creating very creative and sensational music. Muczynski's music has the features of tonality and shows neoclassic and neoromantic features including economical idea, lyrical melody, bitonality and nine-note scale. His music, therefore, is being evaluated as very creative and valuable and is largely significant in that it has provided a good basis for the development of modern movie music and jazz music today.

  • The contents of remote lectures are written by authoring tools or animation tools. Written contents then integrate existing medias, and are stored in a file type, which is added to the lecturing activities of lecturers. These files are stored according to the kinds of each authoring tool. So, there is no interchangeability and the efficiency of each media is not so good. Due to these structural features, it is not possible to do streaming lectures in on-line environments. In this study, a technique was suggested, which guarantees the interchangeability of remote lecturing contents using SMIL which is a synchronizing multimedia language. The suggested technique is an extended type of SMIL, and includes tags to represent the lectures of tutors which are the specific feature of remote lectures. Additionally, a model, which does streaming SMIL remote lecture contents through on-line, and which transfers control techniques are suggested. The remote lecture contents established by the proposed method can be applied to all authoring tools for remote lectures just by installing conversion modules, and can be a kind of expression model of the synchronizing model for streaming service in on-line environment.

  • While the management of digital contents is getting more and more important, many researchers have studied about scene change detection algorithms to reduce similar scenes in the video contents and to efficiently summarize video data. The algorithms using histogram and pixel information are found out as being sensitive to light changes and motion. Therefore, visual rhythm gets used in recent work to solve this problem, which shows some characteristics of scenes and requires even less computational power. In this paper, a new scene detection algorithm using visual rhythm by direction is proposed. The proposed algorithm needs less computational power and is able to keep good performance even in the scenes with motion. Experimental results show the performance improvement of about 30% comparing with conventional methods with histogram. They also show that the proposed algorithm is able to keep the same performance even to music video contents with lots of motion.

  • Lian Huan Hua(連環畵) has occurred in the history of China Cartoon was initially developed as a unique literary style of Chinese painting and narrative combined. Also Lian Huan Hua are also tend to form once the fusion 1920s was also a very creative fashion cartoon style. This is also referred to as chain cartoon. In 1950-1960, China 's Lian Huan Hua also mature a 'golden age' legal group reaches to indicate the unique formal features developed independently. This work is a dramatic expression of Lian Huan Hua narrative, shows a more realistic representation techniques and art forms such as portraiture is a very big breakthrough was achieved artistic maturity of the work increased significantly. by He You Zhi(賀友直) and by Hau San Chuan(華三川) is a masterpiece of artistry and maturity in the period leading side. Chapter 2 looked at the origin and development of Chinese Lian Huan Hua, it was seen by the fact that China achieved new progress in Lian Huan Hua upset every time the combination of content and form, In addition, the work of 1950-1960 in the development process of China's Lian Huan Hua confirmed the fact that they won the biggest achievement in artistry and maturity surface. Therefore, Chapter 3 how 'golden age' masterpiece of and the dramatic narrative of expression by analyzing a specific angle in the multifaceted image of the , realistic portraiture, such as the acquisition of Chinese concrete artistry Lian Huan Hua I want to show. Analysis of the figures depicting nature, landscape screens. consisted of highlights and background and techniques of utilization, production methods. The purpose of this research work is to identify two conditions of great Lian Huan Hua through analysis of concrete work and painting techniques such as framing and directing the Lian Huan Hua's artistic achievements is to investigate the influence of China in the early comics. • To realistically produce fluids such as smoke for the visual effects in the films or animations, we need two main processes: a physics-based modeling of smoke and a rendering of smoke simulation data, based on light transport theory. In the computer graphics community, the physics-based fluids simulation is generally adopted for smoke modeling. Recently, the interest of the particle-based Lagrangian simulation methods is increasing due to the advantages at simulation time, instead of the grid-based Eulerian simulation methods which was widely used. As a result, because the smoke rendering technique depends heavily on the modeling method, the research for rendering of the particle-based smoke data still remains challenging while the research for rendering of the grid-based smoke data is actively in progress. This paper focuses on realistic rendering technique for the smoke particles produced by Lagrangian simulation method. This paper introduces a technique which is called particle map, that is the expansion and modification of photon mapping technique for the particle data. And then, this paper suggests the novel particle map technique and shows the differences and improvements, compared to previous work. In addition, this paper presents irradiance map technique which is the pre-calculation of the multiple scattering term in the volume rendering equation to enhance efficiency at rendering time.

  • The hopes for making vivid images of mankind made 'film' that reflects easy communications. Film have made satisfactions to imagination of man by varied experimental expressions from the beginning. Many of directors and producers were eager to make film to be with relevant views. At last film has making to do with the digital tool, so called 'Computer Graphics' . Making images through computers have changed more better with the developing skills of softwares. NASA has developed Aero-Simulations first, it have called computer graphics for the first time in history. The computer graphics can make images with very varieties that had not exprerienced before and we won't expect the upcomming skills of it. Special Effects(SFX) through the films began the genre of Science Fiction in the era of ideology and space competetions and producer George Lucas made the firm named ILMOndustrial Light & Magic) to making picture of SFX. At last 'Abyss', 'Terminator II', 'Toy Story' and 'Forrest Gump' have made to us with many splendid arangements by the computers. Especially, we can concluded that the relevant expressions as in 'Forrest Gump' is the unexpected charming and human images with wonder. In Korean films are less varied, relevant and reasonable than that of American films, in this study I hope to develope more natural Korean computer graphic in near future.

  • This is the in-depth research dealing with Animatoon, the only animation-specialized magazine in Korea. By examining articles provided under the 'Animatoon Report' category, which is one of article categories set by the publisher, this research tries to find out the topic of articles and examine the tendency of topic. 'Animatoon Report' is chosen because the category title does not clearly show characteristics of articles, but has the second largest number of articles among all categories. First, the articles of the first ten years (1995-2005) has the largest number of pages as well as images, which means each article of this period tries to enrich its contents. Second, the role of magazine reporters are not critical considering the number of articles written by reporters are smaller than those made by the editorial department. Third, articles tries to deal with diverse issues and are mostly placed in front of the magazine. Fourth, in early days, articles used to provide the 3~5 lines of introductory summaries, but changed into provide the lead, the Korean and English subtitle, and so on. Fifth, articles mostly focus on issues of animation and Korea rather than other areas and countries. The results on the basis of article type are as follows. Among the types of people, work, organization/company, event, policy/industry, and etc, the policy/industry type has the largest amount of articles, and articles on the policy and those on the industry shows similar number of articles. Second, the event type has the second largest number of articles even though there are several separate categories only for the event. Third, articles in the et cetera type are often seen in early days because Animatoon who did not systemize the company itself focused on animation history and production techniques. Fourth, articles both on the people and the work type are consistently seen through the whole time period, but those on organization/company and event has more and more articles as time passes. In conclusion, it is possible to mention that the 'Animatoon Report' type shows more interest in policy and industry, and its interest on both issues are consistently seen from 2001 to 2015.
