  • Among many fabrication methods of composite materials, filament winding is the most effective method for fabricating axis-symmetric structures such as pressure tanks and pipes. Filament wound pressure tanks are under high internal pressure during the operation and it has the complexity in damage mechanisms and failure modes. For this reason, it is necessary to monitor the tank through its operation as well as whole fabrication process. A large number of sensors must be embedded into multi points of the tank from its fabrication step for monitoring the whole tank. Fiber optic sensors, especially fiber Bragg grating(FBG) sensors are widely used for various applications because of good multiplexing capabilities. However, we need to develop the embedding technique of FBG sensors into harsh inner environment of the tank far the successful embedment. In this paper, we studied the embedding technique of a number of FBG sensors into filament wound pressure tanks considering multiplexing.

  • The inner liquid pressure of an airtight tank in rolling motions is investigated by means of forced oscillation tests, and the simple method to estimate the inner liquid pressure is proposed. A rectangular solid tank, which is fully filled with water, was used in the forced oscillation test of rolling motion. The inner pressure variations in time were measured at several points on the inner walls of tank. Measured pressures are compared with the calculated ones, and estimation methods of the inner liquid pressure of the tank in rolling motion are studied based on the considerations of the origin of pressure.

  • Internal pressure variation analysis and actual holding time test on ISO LNG tank containers which were made in Korea for the first time according to the special notification of ISO tank container manufacture have been conducted during the transport demonstration projects of the tank containers by tractor, train and ship. The internal pressure of the LNG tank container increased rapidly after LNG filling and dropped during moving the container. However, it was stabilized as time passed and followed the liquid-vapor equilibrium graph. In addition, actual holding time of the tank container was more than 20 days which was satisfied with the special notification of LNG tank container manufacture.

Design Characteristics of Resilient Blanket as Pressure Absorber in the Insulation Annulus of LNG Tank (LNG내외탱크 사이의 압력흡수용 탄성 Blanket 설계 특성)

  • The construction of LNG storage tanks has been increased due to the expansion of LNG demand. LNG tanks which consist of an inner cylindrical 9%Ni metal tank and reinforced concrete, are insulated with perlite powder and resilient blanket for absorbing the perlite pressure in insulation annulus between two inner and outer tanks. This study tries to find out the design specifications and characteristics for blanket thickness and design pressure. The results show that the design basis for the blanket thickness should be approximately 30% to 40% of annulus width and the design pressure be applied below 2,200~2,700Pa with blanket thickness.

  • Because hydrogen has very low density, a different storage method is required to store the same amount of energy as fossil fuel. One way to increase the density of hydrogen is through liquefaction. However, since the liquefied temperature of hydrogen is extremely low at -252 ℃, it is easily vaporized by external heat input. When liquid hydrogen is vaporized, a self-pressurizing phenomenon occurs in which the pressure inside the hydrogen tank increases, so when designing the tank, this rising pressure must be carefully predicted. Therefore, in this paper, the internal pressure of a cryogenic liquid fuel tank was predicted according to the liquid hydrogen filling ratio. A one-dimensional thermodynamic model was applied to predict the pressure rise inside the tank. The thermodynamic model considered heat transfer, vaporization of liquid hydrogen, and fuel discharging. Finally, it was confirmed that there was a significant difference in pressure behavior and maximum rise pressure depending on the filling ratio of liquid hydrogen in the fuel tank.

  • In-situ structural health monitoring of filament wound pressure tanks were conducted during water-pressurizing test using embedded fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensors. We need to monitor inner strains during working in order to verify the health condition of pressure tanks more accurately because finite element analyses on filament wound pressure tanks usually show large differences between inner and outer strains. Fiber optic sensors, especially FBG sensors can be easily embedded into the composite structures contrary to conventional electric strain gages (ESGs). In addition, many FBG sensors can be multiplexed in single optical fiber using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) techniques. We fabricated a standard testing and evaluation bottle (STEB) with embedded FBG sensors and performed a water-pressurizing test. In order to increase the survivability of embedded FBG sensors, we suggested a revised fabrication process for embedding FBG sensors into a filament wound pressure tank, which includes a new protecting technique of sensor heads, the grating parts. From the experimental results, it was demonstrated that FBG sensors can be successfully adapted to filament wound pressure tanks for their structural health monitoring by embedding.

축대칭 PC탱크의 유한요소 해석

  • 이 논문의 목적은 축대칭 프리스트레스트 콘크리트 탱크의 시간의존성 유한요소해석법을 제안하는 것이다. 오늘날 PC구조물은 교량, 포장판, 해상구조물, 원자로 격납구조물, 대규모 액체저장용 탱크 등 여러 형태의 구조물에서 그 사용 예를 쉽게 찾아볼 수 있다. 특히 본 논문에서 고려하고자 하는 압력창기나 액체 저장용 탱크의 경우 유체압력 등의 내부압력에 의해 발생하는 균열은 프리 스트레스를 도입함으로써 매우 효과적으로 제어할 수 있기 때문에 상당히 유리한 구조형식이 된다. 그러니 이러한 구조물의 해석과 설계에 있어서 균열의 예측과 더불어 콘크리트의 크리이프, 건조수축 및 PC강재의 리락세이션 등과 같은 시간 의존성 변형으로 인한 프리스트래스의 손실, 여러 단계의 긴장력을 도입함으로써 발생하는 순간변형인 탄성단축 및 이로 인한 긴장력 감소 등을 정확히 계산하는 일은 매우 복잡하고 어려운 일이다. 본 논문에서는 크리이프, 건조수축 및 리락세이션 등과 같은 시간의존성 변형과 순차적으로 다단계의 프리스트레스 도입으로 인한 순간변형 및 탄성단축의 영향을 고려한 축대칭 PC 탱크 구조물의 시간에 따른 거동 및 긴장력의 변화를 유한요소법을 적용하여 해석할 수 있는 해법체계를 정리하고 이를 전산 프로그램화하여, 축대칭 PC탱크 구조물의 시간 의존성 거동에 대한 보다 정밀한 해석을 수행하였다.

개량형 경수로 격납용기내 재장전수탱크의 수위계측기 선정

  • 기존 발전소의 재장전수탱크는 격납용기 외부에 설치되어 있으며, 압력/차압 계측기를 이용하여 재장전 수탱크 수위를 측정하고 있다. 한편, 개량형 경수로기 경우에는 재장전수탱크를 격납용기 하부에 설치하도록 되어 있으므로 격납용기 벽이나 수집체적조 및 원자로 공동과 인접하게 되어 수위감시를 위한 압력/차압 계측기를 격납용기내에 설치하는 것은 매우 어려울 것으로 판단된다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 격납용기내 재장전수탱크, 수집체적조 및 원자로 공동 수위계측기에 적용되는 미국 원자력규제위원회 및 전력연구소의 설계기준, 환경 및 기기생존 요건들을 검토한 후, 이에 따라 이 계측기들이 유지해야 할 설계 기능요건을 평가하고, 수위계측기의 형태 선정에 필요한 설계고려사항들을 파악하여 개량형 원자로의 해당 수위계측기의 선정 및 설계와 관련된 개념들을 설명하였다. 검토결과, 격납용기내 재장전수탱크 수위지시를 위해서는 압력/차압 계측기를 격납용기 외부에 설치하고, 수집체적조 및 원자로 공동의 수위감시를 위해서는 부유형 감지기를 사용하는 것이 발전소 운전 및 보수측면에서 장점이 있는 것으로 판단되어 이를 개량형 경수로 설계에 적용할 것을 제안하고자 한다.

  • The Hybrid Safety Injection Tank is a passive safety injection system that enables the safety injection water to be injected into the reactor pressure vessel throughout all operating pressures by connecting the top of the SIT and the pressurizer(PZR). In this study, the condition for balancing the pressure between the Hybrid SIT and PZR was derived theoretically. The pressure balancing condition was set at the point where the velocity of the Hybrid SIT coolant injected into the Direct Vessel Injection(DVI) line was at or above zero. If the condition was derived from a pressure network for the Hybrid SIT, pressurizer, and reactor pressure vessel, the pressure difference between the pressurizer and SIT is less than 0.07 MPa.

  • The pressure regulator has been developed as a pressure-control device of propellant tank in KSR-III. The pressurization system of KSR-III is a basic pressurization system composed of pressurant, He tank and propellant tank. The pressure-control regulator is the most important part of gas-pressurized feed system along with He tank, pyrovalve and He fill valve. The first model of the regulator is tested to satisfy in leakage, strength and basic performance. The second model is tested in the overall test of the KSR-III propulsion system using water. From the test result of the second model, we conclude that the capacity of valve(Cv) must be increased in real system. The third model is modified and tested in the overall test of KSR-III propulsion system using propellant. Finally, the pressure-control regulator is qualified from firing test.
