  • This paper proposes the road roughness based Braking Pressure Calculation System(BPCS) for an Autonomous Vehicle Stability. The system consists of an image normalization module that processes the front image of a vehicle to fit the input of the random forest, a Random Forest based Road Roughness Classification Module that distinguish the roughness of the road on which the vehicle is travelling by using the weather information and the front image of a vehicle as an input, and a brake pressure control module that modifies a friction coefficient applied to the vehicle according to the road roughness and determines the braking strength to maintain optimal driving according to a vehicle ahead. To verify the efficiency of the BPCS experiment was conducted with a random forest model. The result of the experiment shows that the accuracy of the random forest model was about 2% higher than that of the SVM, and that 7 features should be bagged to make an accurate random forest model. Therefore, the BPCS satisfies both real-time and accuracy in situations where the vehicle needs to brake.

  • Two-dimensional steady flowfields generated by transverse injection jets into a supersonic mainstream are numerically simulated. Fine-scale turbulence effects are represented by a k-${\omega}$ SST two-equation closure model which includes $y^+$ effects on the turbulence model. Solution convergence is evaluated by using Grid Convergence Index(GCI), a measure of uncertainty of the grid convergence. Comparison is made with experimental data and other turbulence models in term of surface static pressure distributions, the length of the upstream separation region, and the penetration height. Results indicate that the k-${\omega}$ SST model correctly predicts the mean surface pressure distribution and the upstream separation length for low static pressure ratios. However, the numerical predictions become less consistent with experimental results as the static pressure ratio increases. All these results are taken within 1% error band of grid convergence.

  • High-speed vehicles are subjected to complex loads, such as acoustic pressure from the engine at launch and aerodynamic heating and aerodynamic pressure during flight. A thermal protection system panel is required to protect internal systems such as the fuel tank of the vehicle from the external environment. This study defines analytical models for heat transfer and thermal structure characteristics of the thermal protection system panel. Furthermore, the study performed parameters analysis to achieve the thermal structural integrity and to make it lighter.

  • Musculoskeletal disease is often caused by sitting down for long period's time or by bad posture habits. In order to prevent musculoskeletal disease in daily life, it is the most important to correct the bad sitting posture to the right one through real-time monitoring. In this study, to detect the sitting information of user's without any constraints, we propose posture measurement system based on multi-channel pressure sensor and CNN model for classifying sitting posture types. The proposed CNN model can analyze 5 types of sitting postures based on sitting posture information. For the performance assessment of posture classification CNN model through field test, the accuracy, recall, precision, and F1 of the classification results were checked with 10 subjects. As the experiment results, 99.84% of accuracy, 99.6% of recall, 99.6% of precision, and 99.6% of F1 were verified.

  • A Coolant core for Range Extender engine has been developed using CFD technique. Coolant by-pass has been added to the improved model to reduce temperature near and between exhaust valve. Due to the increased coolant flow-rate both around the second cylinder block and between exhaust valves, improved model shows no significant stagnant flow compared with base model. Finally, the improved model shows improved heat transfer coefficients near exhaust valves, and 5% reduced pressure-drop through the coolant core. Reduced pressure-drop may increase the fuel efficiency by reducing the load of a coolant pump.

  • Theoretical model of a variable thrust solid rocket motor with a pintle nozzle was derived. For the chamber pressure control, classical model linearization and proportional-intergral controller was used. And then two types of gain scheduling controller were suggested to imporve controller performance for the non-linear propulsion model. Considering characteristics of systems, control gains were scheduled by chamber pressure or free volume. Step responses of each controllers were compared. As a result, the proper control algorithm about characteristics of variable thrust rocket motor was suggested.

  • In this paper, acceleration and pressure exerted on a human model were measured under a supersonic condition in a shock tunnel. In order to measure these in an interference-free environment, free-fall technique with an electromagnet and a three-dimensional iron-powdered human model was used. Free-fall experiment was conducted at Mach 4 and the force acting on the model was obtained by calculating the displacement from the flow visualization images.

  • A Large Eddy Simulation (LES), adopting the Eddy Dissipation Concept (EDC) 1-step model, was successfully performed for backdraft phenomena. The activation energy of the finite chemistry reaction in the EDC 1-step model was adjusted to simulate the backdraft. The prediction of the EDC 1-step model was similar to that of the Mixing-Controlled Fast Chemistry (MCFC) model, except when the backdraft occurred. The EDC 1-step model could be used to simulate the experimental peak pressure, but not the first peak pressure of the backdraft.

  • The present study was conducted by using fast-responding PSP technique to measure the surface pressure on a small-scale rotor blade in hover. Also, the study was performed to verify the accuracy and investigate its possibility of PSP application for rotor blade pressure measurement. Pulsed laser which has 532 nm wavelength was used as a light source. Lifetime measurement technique was applied. Also, the coated paint on a rotor blade was porous PSP which has faster response time than conventional PSP. The blades had NACA0012 airfoils. The length of rotor blade was 340 mm and chord was 40 mm with rectangular shape 1 set, and 4 sets had several tip sweepback angles. The measured results qualitatively showed that the upper surface pressure decreases with increasing the collective pitch angle. Quantitative pressure coefficients of PSP results were higher approximately 0.4 to 0.7 than the pressure tap data of the NASA experiment.

  • In this study, a model was developed for estimating deliverability considering the pressure dependent permeability and predicting production profile with Material Balance Equation(MBE) for Coalbed Methane(CBM) fields. The estimated deliverability was compared with the conventional deliverability based on CBM well testing data with coefficient of determination($R^2$). As a result, the former was 0.76 and the latter was 0.69. It was confirmed that the deliverability which consider the pressure dependent permeability is more adoptable when representing the productivity of CBM fields. Through this process, in order to calculate pressure dependent permeability when well testing data exist, a method to infer reservoir pressure within the radius of investigation was proposed. The production profile of 31 gas wells was predicted for 15 years, using the estimated deliverability and the MBE. After that, the results was compared with simulation results of the literature. The simulation results did not account the pressure dependent permeability and the developed model results considered that. As the applied field permeability rised 1.17 times, field production rate was increased approximately 15% than the literature results. According to other researches, the permeability of CBM fields can be rise 6 ~ 25 times. For these cases, the production profiles may have significant difference with conventional gas fields.
