A Study of Posted Speeds on Freeway Exits and Entrances (고속도로 진출구 제한속도에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of posted speeds is to provide a speed that ensures the safety of vehicle flow according to given road situations. Because of this, posted speeds must be carefully examined, and posted speeds at freeway exits and entrances in particular should consider car characteristics. Posted speeds at freeway exits and entrances must take changing speeds due to curve radiuses into consideration and in this study, an 85th percentile speed becomes the most important element to consider. When it is considered that most traffic accidents occur because of variations in speed between cars, posted speeds should be set after considering car traveling characteristics. Within these dimensions, instead of putting significance on an upper direction regulation or lower direction regulation, speed distributions which fit to the characteristics of each road should be fully considered. Accordingly, this study evaluated appropriate posted speeds that will reduce the dangers of traffic accidents through posted speed regulations of roads now in operation by offering a posted speed setting method theory, using entries at Yangji, Yongin, and Cheongwon interchanges as subjects.

A Study on Augmented Driving System (ADS) Technology Development for Useful Driving Information (운전자 정보 극대화를 위한 Augmented Driving System (ADS) 기술에 관한 연구)

  • 본 논문에서는 운전자의 안전을 보장하기 위해 영상 처리 기술을 기반으로 도로 정보를 검출해 운전자에게 알려주고, 버튼을 직접 손으로 눌러야 하는 물리적 인터페이스를 대체할 차세대 인터페이스 기술을 제안한다. 제안된 기술은 카메라 한대에서 입력 받은 영상 정보를 제안된 알고리즘을 통해 앞차와의 거리, 차선, 교통 표지판을 검출하고 차량 내부를 주시하는 카메라와 운전자의 음성을 인식할 마이크를 기반으로 음성인식과 동작 인식이 결합된 인터페이스를 제공한다. 본 논문에서 개발된 기술을 통해 설제 테스트를 실시해 본 결과 표지판인식, 차선검출, 앞차와의 거리 검출 등의 인식률이 약 90% 이상이었으며, 이러한 기술적 요소들은 운전자가 인지하지 못하는 상황 등에서도 적절한 정보를 운전자에게 제공해 줌으로써 교통사고 확률을 크게 낮출 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

A Study on the Preparation of Contents for Promoting the Establishment of a Disaster Safety Village in Rural Areas (농촌지역 재난안전마을 만들기 활성화를 위한 컨텐츠 마련에 관한 연구)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to promote the disaster safety village establishment project that fits the characteristics of rural areas by investigating and analyzing the operation cases of contents with regard to disaster safety villages in Korea and Japan. Method: The contents of project related to disaster safety villages in Korea and Japan were classified into resident participation contents, structured contents and unstructured contents, for examining the characteristics of such contents through investigation and analysis, and the contents (draft) of disaster safety village that fitted the characteristics of rural areas were presented. Result: The contents of resident participation include basic safety education, CPR education, life experience training of evacuation shelter, evacuation training, concurrent training of farming activity and disaster activity and creating a village safety map in connection with competent authorities. The enactment of an act and an ordinance for the establishment of disaster safety village, expert dispatch system, storm and flood insurance system and funding system to raise the fund for establishing a village were presented as unstructured contents. In addition, the production of self supporting evacuation shelter, wireless evacuation announcement system, disaster prevention system for a river, emergency evacuation sign, village safety map sign and the establishment of disaster prevention park were presented as structured contents. Conclusion: The unstructured contents are the establishment of foundation for preparing laws and institutions and the structured contents should be installed by utilizing eco-friendly methods in consideration of the environments of rural areas along with securing the safety. Moreover, resident participation should utilize the contents by considering various items such as age, characteristics and environments of residents in rural villages.

  • In recent years, navigation aids, which plays as sea traffic lights, have been digitized, and are developing beyond simple sign purpose to provide various functions such as marine information collection, supervision, control, etc. For example, Busan Port which is located in South Korea is leading the application of the advanced technologies by installing cameras on buoys and recording video images to supervise maritime accidents. However, there are difficulties to perform their major functions since the advanced technologies require long-term battery operation and also management and maintenance of them are hampered by marine characteristics. This study proposes a system that can automatically notify maritime objects passing around buoys by analyzing image information. In the existing sensor-based accident prevention systems, the alarms are generated by a collision detection sensor. The system can identify the cause of the accident whilst even though it is difficult not possible to fundamentally prevent the accidents. Therefore, in order to overcome these limitations, the proposed a maritime object detection system is based on marine characteristics. The experiments demonstrate that the proposed system shows about 5 times faster processing speed than other existing algorithms.

Study on the Hazardousness of a Rigidly Connected Circular Post and Crash Worthiness of a Circular Post with Release Mechanism for Head-on Impacts Using Impact Simulation (시뮬레이션을 통한 강결된 원형지주의 정면충돌에 대한 위험도 및 분리식 지주의 효과 분석)

  • Post release mechanism is generally used to reduce the severity of the occupant of an errant vehicle impacting a roadside posts. The 820kg-50km/h head-on impact simulations were made using LS-DYNA program for the posts of 101.6mm Dia(t=4.0mm) with and without clip-type release mechanism. The simulation result was compared with impact test result to enhance the credibility of simulation model. The study shows that the high impact severity (THIV, PHD) and excessive deformation threatens the safety of the occupant when a car impacts a rigidly connected posts, while a post with clip-type slip base reduce the impact severity to a safe level.

  • 본 연구에서 개발한 KARV-2의특징은 저가의 소형시스템이다. 4인승 소형지프차에 모든 컨트 롤시스템을 장착하고도 외부에 별로 표가 나지 않을 정도임에도 그 성능 면에서는 고속도로를 자율주행할 수 있다는 점이다. 첨단기술의 개발과 더불어 이 차량의 성능도 계속 개선될 것이다. 언젠가는 궤도 위를 달리는 기차와 같이 정확하고 안전하게 주행할 수 있어, 탑승자는 마음놓고 그저 신문을 읽거나 음료수를 마시면서 스쳐 가는 경관을 즐길 수 있는 시기가 곧 도래할 것 으로 믿는 다. 이를 위하여는 차량작동의 신뢰도 향상이 절대 전제조건이다. 앞으로는 일기조건 이나 주야에 관계없이 마치궤도 위를 달리는 기차처럼 안전하게 주행할 수 있는 시스템의 개발이 필요하다. 또한 고속도로가 아닌 시내주행을 위해서는 노면표식인식, 도로표지판 인식, 신호등 인식 등 해결되어야 할 문제들이 산적해 있는 상황이다.

  • Virtual manufacturing technology has been applied in actual production sites with the development of virtual reality technology. However, the current virtual manufacturing technology requires experts for application of the system. Furthermore, the sense of reality is diminished as the entire simulation is driven by virtual objects. In contrast, mixed reality can visualize virtual objects and an actual work place simultaneously, and thus the sense of reality of the virtual manufacturing simulation can be improved. This paper introduces a method that applies mixed reality in the manufacturing process, and proposes a method to adapt general safety sign post in the factory instead of a black square marker for visual fiducial recognition.

A Driving Information Centric Information Processing Technology Development Based on Image Processing (영상처리 기반의 운전자 중심 정보처리 기술 개발)

  • Today, the core technology of an automobile is becoming to IT-based convergence system technology. To cope with many kinds of situations and provide the convenience for drivers, various IT technologies are being integrated into automobile system. In this paper, we propose an convergence system, which is called Augmented Driving System (ADS), to provide high safety and convenience of drivers based on image information processing. From imaging sensor, the image data is acquisited and processed to give distance from the front car, lane, and traffic sign panel by the proposed methods. Also, a converged interface technology with camera for gesture recognition and microphone for speech recognition is provided. Based on this kind of system technology, car accident will be decreased although drivers could not recognize the dangerous situations, since the system can recognize situation or user context to give attention to the front view. Through the experiments, the proposed methods achieved over 90% of recognition in terms of traffic sign detection, lane detection, and distance measure from the front car.

Analysis on the Differences of Driving Abilities and Necessity Awareness on Traffic Safety Features by Driver's Age (운전자 연령에 따른 운전능력 및 교통안전시설물 필요성 인식 차이에 관한 연구)

  • 본 연구에서는 연령증가에 따라 운전에 필요한 신체적, 인지적 능력의 변화가 어떻게 나타나는지 설문을 통해 분석하고, 이것이 교통안전 시설물(신호기, 노면표시, 도로표지판)의 필요성 및 적정성을 평가하는 것과 어떤 관계가 있는 지 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 20세 이상 운전면허 소지자를 대상으로 5개 권역, 500명을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 이를 분석하였다. 운전능력에 대한 자기평가 점수는 종합적 능력, 개별능력(시력, 청력, 색채식별 등) 모두 연령이 증가함에 따라 점수가 낮아지는 것으로 분석되었다. 특히 시력은 연령증가에 따른 감소폭이 크고, 절대적인 평균점수가 다른 항목에 비하여 낮게 나타났다. 시력의 경우 타 신체적, 인지적 능력에 비해 운전 중 기능의 저하에 따른 체감도가 크기 때문인 것으로 판단된다. 설문결과에 따른 분류분석을 통해서는 신체적, 인지적 기능의 저하가 시작되는 연령이 기존의 고령운전자로 판단하는 65세 보다 낮은 48세로 분석되었다. 이것은 연령증가에 따른 기능 저하로 인한 영향을 받는 운전자가 그렇지 않은 운전자보다 더 많다는 것을 의미한다. 또한 시설물에 대한 필요성 인식에 대한 평가 역시 운전능력에서 차이를 나타내는 연령대에서 인식의 차이가 있을 것으로 분석되었다.
