  • The goal of this study was to survey the degree of nursing students' knowledge of standard precaution, intention about performance, attitude toward performance, safety climate, performance of standard precaution and to identify factors influencing performance. A cross-sectional survey was implemented with samples of 296 nursing students. We collected the data from June 15 to 30, 2018 and analyzed by SPSS 21.0 program. There were significant correlation between intention about performance, attitude toward performance, safety climate and performance. The factors that affecting performance of standard precaution among nursing students are intention about performance and safety climate, which explained 20% of the variances. Therefore, It needs to develop an infection management education program and to prepare an safe nursing practice environments in hospitals for nursing students to improve their implementation of standard precautions for preventing clinical infection.

  • This study aimed to explore the influences of safety attitude for patient and moral sensitivity in practice of standard precaution in small and medium hospital nurses. Data were collected from 150 small and medium hospital nurses in January 11, 2021 to January 22, 2021 and were analyzed using Descriptive statistics, Independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Practice of standard precaution was significantly correlated with safety attitude for patient (r=.539, p<.001) and moral sensitivity(r=.249, p=.002). Practice of standard precaution was associated safety attitude for patient, and work unit with 33.8% of the variance(F=18.47, p<.001). Based on the findings of this study, each institution needs to make efforts to strengthen the safety attitude for patient of small and medium hospital nurses for practice of standard precaution.

  • This study is a descriptive research to investigate the, safety environment, and performance of nurses working in public medical institutions on standard precautions for infection, and to identify factors affecting the performance of standard precautions for infection. As for the research method, data were collected through a questionnaire on 192 nurses from two public medical institutions in S city and N city, and the results were analyzed using the SPSS WIN 22.0 statistical program. From the research results, there was a significant difference in the knowledge of standard precautions according to work experience, and there was a significant difference in the safety environment of standard precautions according to the position. The average level of knowledge of standard precautions was 21.98/25 points, the average safety environment was 5.68/7 points, and the average performance was 40.28/60 points. There was a significant positive correlation between the safety environment of standard precautions and the performance of standard precautions (r=.21, p<0.01). The affecting factor on the performance of standard precautions was found to be the safety environment of standard precautions(𝛽=.22, p=.003). Therefore, to improve the performance of standard precautions for nurses' infection control in public medical institutions, Different and persistent infection management educational programs that consider the Historical situation and monitoring are required other than providing financial support and supportive safety environment.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore appropriate fire safety education programs for young children by both examining the actual damage condition and problems associated with fire accident in young children and considering fire safety education programs in America and legal basis for fire safety education in Korea. The results are as follows. First, the mortality of young children by fire accident in Korea is higher than that of U.K, Germany, and Sweden. Second, it is defined by the Child Welfare Law in Korea to implement the mandatory fire safety education for young children in kindergarten and preschool programs. Third, in order to activate fire safety education programs for young children, the fire safety education needs to be suitable for children's developmental characteristics, and various audiovisual materials and activity programs should be developed and provided. Fourth, fire safety education both for early childhood teachers and parents needs to be interrelated and systemized to reduce the risk of fire accident.

  • This study was a descriptive investigation to identify the influence of nurses' moral sensitivity and safety of their environment on compliance with standard precautions. Participants consisted of 214 nurses in one general hospital and data were collected using a questionnaire that consisted of moral sensitivity, safety of environment and compliance with standard precautions from 1-15 August 2017. Data were evaluated by the independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis. The mean scores of moral sensitivity, safety of environment and compliance with standard precautions were 5.05, 5.76 and 4.50, respectively. Moreover, compliance with standard precautions was significantly positively correlated with moral sensitivity and safety of environment. Additionally, multiple regression revealed an $R^2$ of 0.253 with the department (ER, ICU), age and safety environment serving as the major predictor variables for compliance with standard precautions. However, the influence of moral sensitivity on compliance was not identified. Therefore, to increase compliance with standard precautions among nurses, it is necessary to provide continuous educational programs for new nurses, customized programs considering departmental characteristics and administrative support of institutions to enhance safety of the environment.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the knowledge, awareness, safety-climate and performance of standard precautions for healthcare-associated infection control and to identify the factors that influence the performance of standard precautions among nurses in small- and medium-sized hospitals. The subjects of this study were 151 nurses who worked for more than 1 year in 6 small to medium-sized hospitals (less than 300 beds). The data was collected using self-report questionnaires from January 15 to February 15, 2018. The collected data was analyzed using the SPSS Statistics 22.0 program. The mean score for safety climate and performance of standard precautions showed significant differences according to the working department. There were significant positive correlations among knowledge, awareness, safety climate, and performance of standard precautions. The factors influencing the performance of standard precautions were safety climate and awareness. The explanatory power of the performance of the two variables was 23.3%. Based on the findings, it is necessary to improve the safety-climate and continuous educational program, and administrative support should be provided to improve nurses' performance of standard precautions for healthcare-associated infection control in small- and medium-sized hospitals.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to objectify the analysis results using the disaster safety awareness survey for high school students, which has been systematically and continuously educated since the Ferry Sewol disaster, and to promote educational effects by identifying the educational status. Method: The 12 questions of the disaster safety awareness survey were answered using the direct entry method on a Likert 5-point scale, and the SPSS 24 and varimax (orthogonal rotation) methods were used to establish and test research hypotheses. Result: As a result of the verification, it was found that the independent variables, knowledge competency and attitude competency, had a positive effect on the dependent variable, behavioral competency, and there was no multicollinearity, so it was verified that it was meaningful. Conclusion: As a result of the survey analysis, domestic disaster safety education showed a significant impact on the level of disaster safety awareness as an education that meets its goals. Various aspects of disasters show that the educational effect can be improved only when education is established as education by life cycle.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between attitude toward patient safety, empowerment and awareness, performance of standard precaution for healthcare associated infection control and prevention and to identify the influencing factors of the performance in nursing students. The participants were 185 nursing students on one college in J city, Data collection was conducted from september 10 to 21, 2018. The collected data were analyzed with independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression using SPSS Statistics 22.0 program. As a result of multiple regression analysis showed that the factors influencing the performance of the standard precaution were awareness, empowerment, participation in the patient safety campaign and the performance was explained by 51.0%. Therefore, In order to improve the performance of standard precaution for nursing students, various convergent education programs should be applied to raise awareness and improve empowerment, and it is necessary to seek ways for nursing students to participate actively in patient safety campaigns.
