  • In order to investigate the dependence of the particle size on the cation distribution in the spinel structure, Mossbauer spectra were taken in the presence of an external magnetic field f3r the magnetic nanoparticles prepared by using a microemulsion method. The crystals are found to have a cubic structure. The results show that as the particle sizes decrease, $Fe^{3+}$ ions migrate from the octahedral site to tetrahedral site.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship between low back pain and job stress in hospital nurses. Method: A descriptive correlation research design was employed. The participants were 355 nurses who worked in a general hospital in W city Kangwon-do and consented to participate in this study. The Visual Analog Scale and job stress scale were used in this study. Analysis included descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, and partial correlation coefficients. Results: Experience of low back pain for nurse in the past was 86.5% and in the present was 67.5% for low back pain which measured an average of 4.4 points for the level of low back pain. The mean score for job stress was relatively low(M=47.2). Job demand, organization system, job instability and conflict in relationships contributed to high stress scores, instead inappropriate compensation, job culture, and job autonomy contributed to low stress. There was a significant relationship between low back pain and job stress. Conclusion: These results suggest that further research is needed to develop programs to prevention and management of low back pain for nurses.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify the pain patterns and factors affecting low back pain in middle-aged women with backache. Method: A descriptive research design was utilized. The participants were middle-aged women who visited to two back pain clinics in Wonju from October, 2006 through February, 2007. A total of 195 low back pain patients agreed to participate in this study, and data from 177 were analyzed. Data were collected using a questionnaire which included a modified short-form Korean pain rating scale, demographic factors, factors related to low back pain and health behavior. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis was utilized in the analysis. Results: The mean score for low back pain was relatively low(M=21.57, SD=11.44). Among pain patterns, scores for dull pain were the highest of all the dimensions. In the regression analysis, significant factors affecting low back pain were found to be age, level of education, religion, BMI, experience of pregnancy, delivery type and exercise. These variables explained 24.8% of variance in low back pain(F=3.79, p<.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that nurses need for assessment and intervention to take into consideration pain patterns as well as factors affecting middle-age women with backache.

  • Purpose: The purpose of the study was to identify low pain prevalence rate and factors affecting low back pain in emergency medical technicians. Method: A descriptive relationship research design was utilized. The participants were 74 emergency medical technicians who worked at fire stations in W and J city and agreed to participate in this study. Data were collected between April and August 2008 using a questionnaire, which included demographic factors, severity of low back pain using a visual analog scale, factors related to low back pain and health behavior, and BMI. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression were performed for data analysis. Results: 85.1% of emergency medical technicians experienced low back pain. The mean score of low back pain was relatively low (M=4.0, SD=2.33). Significant factors affecting low back pain were found to be age, marital status, exercise, hours of standing work, and BMI. These variables explained 35.1% of variance in low back pain (F=8.45, p<.001). Conclusion: These results suggest that further research is needed to develop interventions for prevention and management of low back pain among emergency medical technicians.

  • Purpose: To assess the health status and health behavior characteristics of immigrant women married to Koreans. Method: A descriptive research design was employed. Fifty female marriage immigrants who were clients of the visiting health program at W public health center were recruited. After full consent, direct interview with a structured questionnaire and physical measurements were conducted by visiting health nurses. Descriptive statistics were utilized. Results: All of the subjects showed normal blood sugar. 25.7% of them exhibited extreme body weight condition of either obesity or low body weight by BMI. 36.4% had pre-hypertension stage and 15.9% had first stage of hypertension. Only two of the women had been diagnosed with hypertension and treated by a doctor. Almost all (95%) of them perceived their general health status as good or moderate. Most of them did not exercise, smoke or drink. Regarding dental care, no subject brushed before lunch. and only one did between meals. About 30$\sim$60% of subjects had undergone health screening. Conclusion: Health education is needed for immigrant women married to Koreans to enhance their health behavior, prevent life style disease and improve their health.

  • Purpose: To identify the experience of violence and physical and psychiatric health in women residing in shelters. Method: A descriptive correlation research design was employed. The participants were 116 women living in shelters who consented to participate in this study. The women lived in one of 23 of the 48 shelters registered with the Ministry of Gender and Equality(2004). Their experience of violence was measured using the Conflict Tactics Scale II revised by the Ministry of Gender and Equality and their health status using the Cornell Medical Index revised by Nam(1965). Analysis included descriptive statistics, and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The results confirmed the women in shelters to have been exposed to severe physical, psychological and sexual violence from their spouses, which had led to serious problems in their musculoskeletal system and also depression. There was a significant relationship between the experience of violence and health status. Conclusion: Future research is needed to develop programs to improve the situations of these women.

  • The infected spin aches showing yellow mosaic symptom were collected and confirmed that the causal agent was turnip mosaic virus. The results of host reaction indicated that this virus induced local lesion on the inoculated leaves of Nicotiana tabacum (B.Y) and Chenopodium amaranticolor, mosaic symptoms on chrysanthemum coronarum, spinacea oleracea and Rephanus acanthiormis. The infected leaves extracts with this virus showed positive reaction with authentic turnip mosaic virus-antiserum. The virus particles were filaments type with size of 750nm by means of dipping method in electron microscope.

  • This study was directed at analysing nursing practice in one oriental medicine hospital. In this study, the nurses were chosen from two units at one oriental medicine hospital. Using the worksampling method, a total of 780 series of nursing actions were collected over thirteen days. this study had two findings. First, the percentage for the amount of actual nursing practice was 79.5% which is lower than the amount of actual nursing practice in other western style general hospitals. Second, the content of nursing practice included nursing actions(43.8%), nursing management (35.5%), and education /research (0.1%), indicating that only the special care of oriental nursing and education /research were not observed in nursing practice. These findings indicate a deficit knowledge in oriental medicine and oriental nursing care by nurses in oriental medicine hospitals. Since Oriental Nursing has not been included in Nursing curriculum, there is a need for research to develop basic education in Oriental Medicine and pharmacology as well as the development of a sgstematized approach to Oriental Nursing so as to provide an appropriate background for nurses working in this field. Further research is needed to define nursing in the Oriental Medicine system.

  • The purpose of using Gas Generator Oxidizer On/Off Valve(GOV) is to control opening and closing of oxidizer mass flow. This paper describes analytical results of flow and structural properties for four different GOV models, using commercial software such as Fluent(Ver. 6.3.26) and NASTRAN(2005 r.2), PATRAN(2005 r.2). Analytical results show that GOVs could generate 2.3~3.8 kg/s of oxidizer mass flow rate and come up with 1.09~1.42 of safety factor.
