  • Even though Mesozoic Mudeungsan tuff, located within Neungju Basin, has been named several rock names, it should be named as Mudeungsan tuff due to several evidences, such as fiamme, welded texture and rock fragments in the Mudeungsan tuff. Volcanic eruption boundary between the Cheonwangbong and Anyangsan areas is not clear, but petrochemical and mineral chemical evidences with different ages indicate clear petrological boundary between Cheonwangbong and Anyangsan. The Mudeungsan tuffs from Cheonwangbong and Anyangsan is welded crystal tuff with dacitic composition and were generated from cogenetic calc-alkaline magma in the volcanic arc environment. Geochemical events indicate that magma beneath Cheonwangbong was seems to have been evolved from the magma beneath Anyangsan due to fractional crystallization dominated by plagioclase.

  • Mt. Mudeung is located in Gwangju city, Damyang-Gun, Hwasun-Gun and its round form give us the mood of soft and rich. Its location is $126^{\circ}06'-127^{\circ}01'E$ and $35^{\circ}06'-35^{\circ}10'N$ and its highest peak is Cheonwang-bong with the height of 1,187 m. The Gwangju city is located in the West of Mt. Mudeng and the mountain range with a small basin in its East. The pavilion such as the Soswaewon, Songganjeong, Sigyongjeong are distributed along the stream in the north of Mt. Mudeung. The mountain is formed from the volcanic activity, Gwangju cauldron during the Cretaceous. The top part of Mt. Mudeung is composed of dark gray quartz-andesite and its K-Ar whole rock age is $48.1{\pm}1.7Ma$. The composition of the north area, where the Wonhyosa temple is located, is micrographic granite, whereas the composition of south area is rhyolite mainly. The main ridge of Mt. Mudeung runs from North, starting from the Bukbong, to south, passing Cheonwangbong, Jangbuljae and ending Anyangsan. Geologic feature of the mountain includes volcanic landform, mountaineous landform, and stream landform. The Seosukdae, Ipseokdae, Gyubongam, which are main ridges and formed from volcanic activity, are composed of mainly columnar joint. Saeinbong and Majipbong in the south-west are composed of mainly cliff and dome. The typical erosion landform of the mountain has three different types of the weathering-cave, each of which reflect the property of the original rock. Four different area of wide block stream, they makes the geological feature of spring-water, though its scale is small compared to that of water fall.

  • In this study, we applied a hierarchial linear model to Anyang city data because students and their schools are hierarchial data structure. As a result, main factors which affect parents' satisfaction to school which their children go to are parents' satisfaction to Anyang city's education policies and areas which their schools located at. We suggest based on the analysis by this hierarchial linear model that if Anyang city make educational policies more efficient and effective in order for students to study in public school without private education and if Anyang city improve environment related with school like those of new cities, parents' satisfaction to school which their children go to will be increased.

  • The chemical composition of the of grape juices produced in Korea in 1969 were analyzed and the amino acids and sugars in these juices were detected by means of paper partition chromatography. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Less sugar and amino-N and more acid were contained in Korean grape juices than those of foreign's, and tannin content was not so different as foreign's. 2. More sugar, amino-N and tannin and less acid were contained in the juices of Campbell Early obtained in Anyang district than in Taejon and Pohang districts. 3. Twenty-one amino acids detected in grape juices were distributed as following frequency. Aspartic acid, serine, glycine, asparagine, lysine, arginine, threonine, alanine ${\gamma}-amino$ butyric acid, valine, leucine, proline (in 11 varieties), glutamine, tyrosine(10), cystine(9), glutamic acid, Hydroxyproline(8), isoleucine(4), phenylalanine, unknown(3). 4. Alanine was mostly abundant in all varieties and ${\gamma}-amino$ butyric acid was next and the decreasing order were arginine, valine, leucine, proline, glutamine, threonine, etc. in the amount. 5. Number of amino acid detected in grape juices of each varieties were 20 sorts in Delaware(Anyang), 19 in Black Hamburg, and Schuyler, 18 in Campbell Early(three districts), Delaware(seedless, Taejon) and Alden, 17 in Niagara, 16 in Muscat Hamburg, and 15 in Golden Muscat. 6. Number of essential amino acids contained in Delaware(Anyang) and Black Hamburg were 6 sorts and in Campbell Early (Anyang), Niagara and Muscat Hamburg were 5 and in others 4. 7. The same number of amino acid were detected in the juices of Campbell Early obtained from three districts, but hydroxyproline was detected in that of Anyang only, while isoleucine was appeared in those of Taejon and Pohang. 8. Glucose, fructose were detected in all grape juices.

  • Magnetite nanoparticles, which have been extensively used in many fields, were encapsulated with a natural polymer, chitosan, to improve their biocompatibility. We have synthesized magnetite $(Fe_3C_4)$ nanoparticles using chemical coprecipitation technique with sodium oleate as surfactant. Nanoparticle size can be varied from 1.2 to 7.4nm by controlling the sodium oleate concentration. Magnetite phase nanoparticles could be observed from X-ray diffraction. Magnetic colloid suspensions containing particles with sodium oleate and chitosan have been prepared. High magnetic property chitosan-microsphere particles were prepared from oleate-coated magnetite suspension using spray method. The surftce, and tile morphology of the magnetic chitosan microsphere particles were characterized using optical microscope and scanning electron microscope. Magnetic hysteresis measurement were performed using a superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometer at room temperature to investigate the magnetic properties of the chitosan microspheres including magnetite nanoparticles. The SQUID measurements revealed superparamagnetism of nanoparticles.

  • This study aims to analyze cold air characteristics in the watershed areas and to suggest strategies for utilizing them in urban ventilation corridor plans. For this purpose, the Jungnangcheon watershed and Uijeongbu-si in the northern part of Gyeonggi province, and Anyangcheon watershed as well as Yangjaecheon Tancheon watershed and Gwacheon-si in the southern part were selected as study areas. We used KALM (Kaltluftabflussmodell), a cold air simulation model developed in Germany and identified both the cold air flow and the height of cold air layer generated during 6 hours at night. Uijeongbu City is located on the main stream of the Jungnangcheon watershed, and the local cold air from the southern outskirts is an important part of Uijeongbu-si's overall ventilation corridor planning. In addition, the cold air generated in the vicinity of Mt. Sapae flows into the central business district near the city hall and plays a major role in regulating the thermal environment of the city. But, the cold air flows in the eastern part of Uijeongbu-si was not smoothly. The cold air flow generated in the east of Gwanak Mountain and in the west of Cheonggye Mountain was the most active in the northern part of Gwacheon-si. This flow is also a major ventilation corridor in Anyangcheon watershed as well as Yangjaecheon Tancheon watershed. But, the southern part where the cold air flow is not smooth is planed to be developed as 'Gwacheon Knowledge Information Town Public Housing District', so rapid development is expected in the future. Hence, it is suggested that an additional ventilation corridor plan should be established based on the detailed local wind flow analysis.
