  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the association of faculty-student interaction, psychological well-being, and the image of nurses with nursing professionalism in the COVID-19 pandemic situation. Methods: The participants of the study were 243 nursing college students located in Daegu, Kyungpook. Data collection was performed between August 11 and 20, 2021. Data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression using the IBM SPSS 21.0 program. Results: The multiple regression showed that nursing professionalism was associated with a positive image of nurses (β=.71, p<.001) and higher faculty-student interaction (β=.11, p=.023). Additionally, a negative impression about nurses during the COVID-19 pandemic was negatively associated with nursing professionalism (β=-.12, p=.003). The explanatory power of the factors was 67 percent of the total variances on nursing professionalism; however, psychological well-being was not an associated factor. Conclusion: This study suggested that, to improve nursing student's nursing professionalism in the COVID-19 pandemic situation, nursing colleges should systemize curricular and non-curricular programs to improve awareness of nurses' efforts and faculty-student interaction.

  • Developed by Paulhus and Carey(2011), the Free will and Determinism Plus Scale (FAD-Plus) is a widely-used tool for measuring the individuals' lay beliefs in free will and three closely related constructs: scientific determinism, fatalistic determinism, and unpredictability. Since no attempt has been made to validate Korean version of FAD-Plus, it is necessary to assess the psychometric properties as well as reliability analysis of Korean version of FAD-Plus. Total 202 people were surveyed and the subjective well-being and personality traits were measured to see how free will and related constructs relate to other psychological constructs. The study found that six of the total 27 items were deleted, which proved to be a reliable and validate questionnaire. The theoretical implications of the results and future directions for research are discussed.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between value types and life satisfaction of Korean university students. 275 students' scores for value types, positive·negative affectivity, and subjective well-being were obtained using questionnaires. Data was analysed by correlation analysis and path analysis. The results can be summarized as followings. First, the correlation between all negative affectivity and all value was not significant. Second, conformity, benevolence, self-direction·stimulation, hedonism, achievement and security value types were positively correlated with positive affectivity, whereas, conformity, benevolence, universalism and security value types were positively correlated with life satisfaction. Third, the student's higher scores of conformity, benevolence and hedonism value types induced higher level of positive affectivity, which, in turn, increased life satisfaction. The results suggested that value types can indirectly influence life satisfaction through positive affectivity.

  • This study was conducted to explore the determinants of happiness for Korean Old People. A total of 105 Korean old people responded to open-ended questions about their happiness. From the content analysis of those reponses were happiness-related 70 items derived. Then 200 old people rated themselves on the list of those items. Factor analysis of those data ended up with 33 items of 8 factors, which were ①Family relationship, ②Religion, ③Financial ability, ④Health, ⑤Work/Job, ⑥ Psychological stability, ⑦Leisure, ⑧Public welfare. This Happiness Scale for the Korean old people, Subjective wellbeing Scale, Emotion experience Scale, and Self-esteem Scale were also administered to the identical 200 Korean old people. Results indicated that the construct validity of this new Happiness Scale for Korean old people was obtained. Finally, the implications and limitations of the present study and suggestions for further studies were discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the causality between life satisfaction and domain satisfactions. For this study, data were collected from 207 respondents. They completed World Health Organization Quality of Life Assessment Instrument - Brief (WHOQOL-BREF) which is self-report questionnaire asking about life satisfaction and domain satisfactions. For data analysis, the verification procedure by autoregressive crosslagged modeling of structural equation was used. The analysis results of measures showed the causal relation between the two variables, that is, domain satisfactions acted as cause of life satisfaction. There were discussions on the issues about the analysis method of the autoregressive crosslagged modeling, the implications of the results, and the limits of the research. This study ascertained the intervention direction between life satisfaction and domain satisfactions to promote life satisfaction.

This study used data from the 'Community-based Severe Trauma Surveillance' investigated from January 1, 2018 to December 31, 2019. As a result, there were differences in the degree of disability after injury and whether treatment(surgery, trauma embolism, transfusion) was performed according to the type of medical insurance (p< .001), it was found that there was a statistically significant difference between the degree of disability before and after damage depending on the type of medical insurance (p< .001). Reviews of the health insurance system located for the well-being of the people should be continued from various angles, and specific improvement plans should be proposed.

  • The Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS) is the most widely used instrument to measure life satisfaction. This study examined the factor structure and measurement equivalence of SWLS across age and gender in Korea. A total of 936 data were analyzed, comprising 433 college students (195 males and 238 females) and 503 middle-aged adults (237 males and 266 females). The results are as follows. Firstly, the data supported a modified single-factor model with correlations between error variances of items 4 and 5. Therefore, items 4 and 5 reflecting the past were found to share a distinct meaning with other items. Secondly, SWLS showed full strict invariance by gender, but only showed partial strict invariance between college students and middle-aged adults. These results indicate that meaningful comparisons of SWLS scores across gender may be valid, but careful attention should be paid when comparing age groups.
