  • 안경 산업은 현대사회의 복잡성에 따라 사용자가 매우 가파르게 증가하고 있는 실정이다. 기존 안경 산업은 주로 오프라인에서 사용자의 필요에 따라 사용하는 필요성에 의한 산업구조인 반면에, 최근의 안경 산업은 고객들의 선호도에 따라 다르게 착용함으로써 외적 미모를 위한 개성 연출을 위한 도구로서 활용도가 다양화되고 급증하고 있는 추세이다. 이에 본 연구에서는 젊은층 및 노년층의 구분없이 다양한 계층에서 활용도를 유도할 수 있도록 개인 맞춤형 안경산업의 온라인 사업에 초점을 둔 온라인 안경사이트 구축에 관한 연구이다. 이를 위해서 기존의 대표적인 안경 산업의 특징과 산업 서비스 분석을 통해 차별화된 전략을 제시하고자 한다. 본 연구를 통해 서비스 개발과 실용적인 접목이 이루어진다면 비즈니스 모델의 새로운 가치를 도모할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

Analysis on Causes of Stagnation in Domestic Eyeglasses Industry (국내 안경산업의 침체원인 분석)

  • Korean eyeglasses export has continuously decreased at the annual average rate of 10% since year 2000. On the other hand, China - the number 1 competing country - is chasing after Korea while accomplishing average 20% of export increase per annum after year 2000. Considering these factors, main cause of stagnation in domestic eyeglasses industry can be seen as China's pursuit propelled by their low labor costs as well as investment on Research &Development. Other important causes are insufficient investment on R &D, decrease in competitiveness due to increase of import, deficiency of exploitative ability on own brand and own design, lack of infrastructure in eyeglasses expo, and etc.

  • Most of eyeglasses manufacturers in Korea consist of relatively small-sized enterprises with less than 10 employees. In terms of scale, it performs considerably poor compared to other competing nations like Italy and the People's Republic of China. As a result, domestic eyeglasses industry is facing a difficult position between high-priced products of developed countries and low-priced goods of China, South East Asia, and etc. Considering these factors, the urgent solution for revitalization of domestic eyeglasses industry could be seen as major structural changes in eyeglasses producers. In addition, it is also noted that procurement of competitiveness is an essential scheme to reinvigorate the Korean eyeglasses industry. This objective can be achieved via improvement of ability to develop new designs, exploitation of new material and technology, intensification of own innovative brand and public relations, development of new products such as functional glasses, reduction of sample producing period, provision of administrative support, and designation of special economic zone.

  • Our eyewear industry, the recent growing its position has been weakened because of Chinese low labor costs, Japanese quality and technology and Italian excellent design, brand and marketing. Investigate the recent trend for the trade balance of China and Italia, the largest importer of the eyewear market in Korea. Sunglasses are the most vulnerable sectors of the eyeglasses industry in Korea. Continued investment and attention is needed to the eyewear design for the improvement of the trade balance.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this research is to induce domestic eyewear industry to invest in research and development of eyewear manufacturing technology and eyewear design. Methods: Analysis of Industrial Rights using data issued by Korea Intellectual Property Office and search results by 'Kipris' (Korea Intellectual Property Rights Information Service). Results: A number of Industrial Rights Application related to eyewear of eyewear industry has rapidly increased since 1980's. The ratio of Patent and Design Right applications related to eyewear by foreigner has continually decreased, 55%, 32.9% in 1980's, 40%, 22% in 1990's and 27%, 13.9% in 2000's. This shows domestic eyewear industry has developed technology and design on eyewear more and more. But numbers of Design Right applications in 1990's were about 60 in a year and those in 2000's were about 70 in a year. This may explain a few eyewear company have applied for Design Right. Conclusions: It is evident that domestic eyewear industry make an more effort and investment to develop eyewear manufacturing technology and design, but not enough. Actually, we don't know exactly how they develop and how much they invest. Now we need to research problems what they have and environments what they face.

  • Purpose: The aims of this paper are to assess the competitiveness about the spectacles industry of Korea against Japan. Methods: We use export competitiveness indexes such as market share index, trade specialization index and market comparative advantage index to evaluate the competitiveness of spectacles industry of Korea against Japan. Results: This paper shows that the comparative advantage of the Spectacles industry of Korea in MC(market comparative advantage) against Japan arc spectacles lenses and contact lenses. Furthermore, it can also be known that the spectacles lenses and contact lenses have export competitiveness in the TSI (trade specialization index) against Japan. Conclusions: We need to choose spectacles lenses and contacts lenses as the main export items against Japan in the spectacles industry of Korea. Along with this, we need to improve the image of the Spectacles industry in Korea; after that, we have to create a strategy that would strengthen export competition in other items.

  • Optical design highly influer.ces consumer purchase and is a major factor of price decision in the optical industry. The price is varied based on designs. Eyewear design produces more added value than other products. Design and brand name are the foundation of rapid growth. while technology and quality control are basics of competitive optical design. Currently, China, Hongkong and other Asian countries are closely following Korea in the optical industry. There should be problem solving methods based on design and brand competition and export growth probability will be improved when continue various efforts emphasizing design.

  • Recently, to satisfy the customer's requirements for glasses such as rating of glasses or choosing, glasses industry is supporting various types and tools for making one's appearance good. In this research, we study the strategy for implementing a site for glasses to customizing a person not to distinguish whether the customer is older or younger etc. For the purpose of implementing a site for glasses, first, we suggest a differentiated methodology through analysis of glasses industry service and features of existential representative glasses sites. Through the activation of the marketing strategies, marketing in a glasses market is expected to be competitive.

  • This research analyzes the weaknesses of domestic spectacle industry and applies RFID, which is a wireless-based automated sensering technology, as an alternative scheme. As a first step to explain RFID and apply it to spectacle industry, it presents the middleware that will process compiled information, sensering items along with suitable tags for them, and through inventory controlling and GPS service, it's goal is to achieve an embodiment of integrated system for spectacle industry by maximizing work efficiency.
