No-Reference Visibility Prediction Model of Foggy Images Using Perceptual Fog-Aware Statistical Features (시지각적 통계 특성을 활용한 안개 영상의 가시성 예측 모델)

  • We propose a no-reference perceptual fog density and visibility prediction model in a single foggy scene based on natural scene statistics (NSS) and perceptual "fog aware" statistical features. Unlike previous studies, the proposed model predicts fog density without multiple foggy images, without salient objects in a scene including lane markings or traffic signs, without supplementary geographical information using an onboard camera, and without training on human-rated judgments. The proposed fog density and visibility predictor makes use of only measurable deviations from statistical regularities observed in natural foggy and fog-free images. Perceptual "fog aware" statistical features are derived from a corpus of natural foggy and fog-free images by using a spatial NSS model and observed fog characteristics including low contrast, faint color, and shifted luminance. The proposed model not only predicts perceptual fog density for the entire image but also provides local fog density for each patch size. To evaluate the performance of the proposed model against human judgments regarding fog visibility, we executed a human subjective study using a variety of 100 foggy images. Results show that the predicted fog density of the model correlates well with human judgments. The proposed model is a new fog density assessment work based on human visual perceptions. We hope that the proposed model will provide fertile ground for future research not only to enhance the visibility of foggy scenes but also to accurately evaluate the performance of defog algorithms.

Hardware design for haze removal of single image using cumulative histogram (누적 히스토그램에 기반한 단일 영상의 안개 제거를 위한 하드웨어 설계)

  • Recently, autonomous driving technology based on object recognition and lane recognition has attracted attention. However, in foggy weather, haze removal technology is needed because it is difficult to recognize surrounding objects. The technology of removing hazy is currently being studied in many ways, and a single image based haze removal algorithms are typical. In this paper, we design the hardware for haze removal by estimating the hazy partical map. Proposed hardware architecture is designed to have a cumulative histogram based filter that does not affect the hardware size even if the window size of filter increases. The hardware design is implemented with XILINX's xc7z045-ffg900 as the target board.

  • When the for occurred, the driver does not get the vision is has difficult on driving. In this case, the probability of occurrence of accidents are very high level. To reduce accidents, this system provide drivers with the safety of ensure to measures that a service inform current situation. in this paper, the crash occur in fog to prevent accident using vehicle safety system to give a alarm and control. The proposed system is installed on the outside of the vehicle, humidity, and ambient light sensors inside the car from the information collected by the system controller for the detection of fog conditions using video equipment and then finally the fog occurs if you do not get the driver's field of events is causing the system.

  • 야간에 자동차를 운행할 때 검정색 차량 같은 어두운 색상의 자동차는 운전자가 인지를 못하는 경우가 많고 안개가 짙게 낀 상황도 운전자의 시야가 좁아져 교통사고율이 급격하게 증가한다. 도로교통공단의 자료에 의하면 최근 5년(2009~2013) 동안 가해자의 안전거리 미확보로 인한 교통사고는 매년 감소하는 것으로 나타나지만, 안전운전 의무 불이행 다음으로 두 번째로 높은 사고 건수를 기록하고 있다. 이는 아직도 운전자의 시인성 저하에 대한 방안이 부족하기 때문이다. 시인성 저하를 위한 대책으로 BMW, AUDI, Benz 회사에서 적외선 카메라를 이용한 나이트 비젼이 있으나 거리감지기능이 없어 디스플레이를 계속 주시하면서 운행하여야 하므로 시야가 좁아져 다른 위험이 발생할 수 있다. 현재 시중에 제공되고 있는 적외선 나이트 비젼 카메라를 이용하였을 때 일반 시야보다 약 4배 정도의 거리를 인식할 수 있었고, 이러한 나이트 비젼의 장점을 활용하여 전면 차량과의 안전거리를 확보하는 시스템을 제안한다. 본 논문에서는 제시하는 시스템은 시인성이 떨어지는 환경을 가정하여 설계하였고 나이트 비젼 카메라를 이용해 디스플레이로 출력하여 육안으로 구분할 수 없는 물체도 인지할 수 있어 헤드라이트를 켜고 운행할 때보다 안전한 운행을 할 수 있을 것으로 보인다. 하지만 디스플레이를 지속적으로 주시하며 운행할 경우 거리 감각이 떨어져 근접해 오는 물체와의 충돌 사고를 막기 힘들 것으로 보인다. 따라서 이러한 단점을 보안하기 위해 영상 데이터를 활용하여 앞 차량의 유무를 파악하고 차량이 있을 때 안전거리를 디스플레이에 표시함으로 앞 차량과의 거리를 유지하여 사고를 예방하여 안전 운행이 가능하도록 설계하였다.

  • 사용자들은 스마트폰의 무선랜 접속을 통해 편리하게 인터넷 서비스를 사용할 때 무선 구간 도청의 위험성 정도만 인지하는 수준이지만, 편리하다는 그 이면에는 불특정 다수에 의한 도청 위험성뿐만 아니라, 무선랜은 타 무선 네트워크에 비해 비교적 저렴하고 손쉬운 공격 도구를 이용하여 네트워크 무력화가 가능하다는 큰 단점이 있다. 이에 따라 무선랜 보안성 강화를 위해, IEEE 등 관련 표준화 기구에서는 무선랜 보안과 셀룰러 망 연동, 로밍, 무선 메시 네트워크 등 다양한 활용을 염두에 둔 보안 규격을 정의하였으며, 표준 영역에서 다루지 않는 무선랜 보안 위협에 대응하는 장비에 대한 시장의 요구도 분명하다. 본고에서는 2012년 최신 무선랜 표준에서의 보안 기술과 Gbps급 차세대 무선랜 환경에서의 보안의 취약점을 이용한 공격과 이를 탐지하고 방어하는 무선랜 침해방지 기술에 대하여 논한다.

  • 정보화 시대의 도래와 함께 원자력발전소 등 사회 간접자본의 중요 시설에서 운영되는 각종 장치들 역시 디지털화되면서 기존에 존재하지 않았던 사이버 공격에 대한 위협이 현실화되고 있다. 이러한 중요 사회 간접자본 등의 운영에 위협을 가하는 행위는 사회적으로 경제적으로 매우 큰 재난을 발생시킬 수 있기 때문에 공격 발생 이전에 사전 방어 체계를 구축해야 하는데, 이때, 실질적으로 위협이 되는 취약점의 존재 여부를 사전 인지하는 것이 매우 중요하다. 이를 위하여 본 논문에서는 원자력발전소의 계측제어계통에서 운영되는 국산화된 디지털 장치에 대하여 관련 취약점을 확인하고 확인된 취약점의 실질적인 위험도를 장치의 운영환경 특징을 반영하여 도출하며, 주요 기기의 운영 규제지침의 준수 여부를 점검하는 도구의 개발 결과를 소개한다. 본 논문은 원자력발전소 상에서 운영되는 시스템을 주요 대상으로 작성되었다.

A study to Improve the Image Quality of Low-quality Public CCTV (저화질 공공 CCTV의 영상 화질 개선 방안 연구)

  • The number of CCTV installed in Korea is over 1.3 million, increasing by more than 15% annually. However, due to the limited budget compared to the installation demand, the infrastructure is composed of 500,000 pixel low-quality CCTV, and there is a limits on identification of objects in the video. Public CCTV has high utility in various fields such as crime prevention, traffic information collection (control), facility management, and fire prevention. Especially, since installed in high height, it works as its role in solving diverse crime and is in increasing trend. However, the current public CCTV field is operated with potential problems such as inability to identify due to environmental factors such as fog, snow, and rain, and the low-quality of collected images due to the installation of low-quality CCTV. Therefore, in this study, in order to remove the typical low-quality elements of public CCTV, the method of attenuating scattered light in the image caused by dust, water droplets, fog, etc and algorithm application method which uses deep-learning algorithm to improve input video into videos over quality over 4K are suggested.

  • A mobile communication device is a small size of portable computer which provides communication service, such as smart phone and PDA. Currently, one of the biggest barriers in developing the mobile communication device is security issue. Even though there are excellent security functions which can remove the security issues, there is a problem that the mobile communication device can not be loaded with all the functions because it has low storage, poor computational power, and inconvenient user interface, compared to the desktop personal computer. This paper proposes a context-aware security reconfiguration scheme for effective security management of the mobile communication device. The scheme can provide the mobile communication device with the optimized security service which is most adapted to its current security context. Through the prototype implementation and the experiments of the proposed scheme, we have confirmed that the proposed scheme is excellent in terms of computing resource efficiency and usability, without degrading security level.

  • Vertigo refers to a state in which awareness related to the location, posture, movement, etc. of a helicopter is insufficient in space. It is easy to fall into flight illusion when flying in dense fog or night flight, and even if it has a wide field of view, it can be caused by visual causes such as cloud shapes, wind conditions, conditions of ground objects, and sensory causes such as changes in air posture or gravitational acceleration. The design and program of the motion system are studied that applied a six-axis motion system to a conventional commercial flight simulator program for pilot training, depending on the specificity of helicopter flight training that requires perception and sensitivity. Using the motion-based helicopter simulator produced in this study to train pilots, it is expected to have a positive effect in prevent of vertigo, where high performance could not be confirmed in the previously used visual-based simulation training device.

  • The purpose of the thermal imaging observation device mounted on the K's tank in the Republic of Korea military is to convert infrared rays into visual information to provide information about the environment under conditions of restricted visibility. Among the various performance indicators of thermal observation devices, such as the view, magnification, resolution, MTF, NETD, and Minimum Resolvable Temperature Difference (MRTD), the MRTD is the most important, because it can indicate both the spatial frequency and temperature resolvable. However, the standard method of measuring the MRTD in NATO contains many subjective factors. As the measurement result can vary depending on subjective factors such as the human eye, metal condition and measurement conditions, the MRTD obtained is not stable. In this study, these qualitative MRTD measurement systems are converted into quantitative indicators based on a gray scale using imaging processing. By converting the average of the gray scale differences of the black and white images into the MRTD, the mean values can be used to determine whether the performance requirements required by the defense specification are met. The (mean) value can also be used to discriminate between detection, recognition and identification and the detectable distance of the thermal equipment can be analyzed under various environmental conditions, such as altostratus, heavy rain and fog.
