The purpose of this study is to suggest structural design guidelines in additional shear-wall construction method for apartment remodeling with understanding the effects of the position, length and thickness of the additional walls. The slab-wall frames under seismic loads are analyzed using effective beam width model, which can practically evaluate the structural performance of existing building system. According to the results, proper design guidelines of additional shear-wall construction method(position, length and thickness) is suggested to get the required seismic performance.

The wall system that is composed only of reinforced concrete walls and slabs is adopted on many high-rise apartment buildings recently constructed. In the apartment buildings, a shear wall may have one or mote openings for functional reasons. Many researches on the analysis of shear wall with openings were performed. But, some restrictions prevent those research results being applied to practical analysis and design procedure. It is necessary to use subdivided finite elements lot accurate analysis of the wall system with openings. But it would cost tremendous amount of analysis time and computer memory if the entire building structure is subdivided into a finer mesh. An efficient analysis method which can be used regardless of the number, size and location of openings is proposed in this study. The analysis method uses super element, matrix condensation technique and fictitious beam technique. Analyses of example structures having various types of openings were performed to verify the efficiency of proposed method. It was confirmed that the proposed method have outstanding accuracy with drastically reduced time and computer memory from the analyses of example structures.

Currently in the country, the necessity of seismic analyses is increasing due to the increase of demand and interest in seismic design. Especially, shear wall apartments are constructed mostly for a residental building so seismic analyses for the apartment are actively executed. For the seismic analysis of the shear wall apartment, it may be not efficient in time and effort to model the entire structure by a finite element mesh. Therefore, an equivalent model is needed to simulate the dynamic behavior of the structure by decreasing the number of degrees of freedom. In this study, a method to form an equivalent model that is simple and easy to use was proposed utilizing effective mass coefficient that is highly correlated to mode shape of the structure. This equivalent model was obtained by replacing a shear wall structure with an equivalent frame structure having beams and columns. This model can be used very effectively when excessive seismic analyses are necessary in a short period because it can be operated in any commercial program and reduce the analysis time. Also, it can model floor slabs so it can represent the actual behavior of shear wall apartments. Furthermore, it is very excellent since it can represent the asymmetry of the structure.

In these days the floor vibration is beginning to make its appearance of the environmental dispute in apartment building. Standard floor system are suggested for the settlement of this issue by government. The sound of floor impact sound is needed to secure comfortable quality in housing. Also, it is required an accurate analysis and a proper evaluation for floor vibration. Refine model is necessary for the floor system of housing to analyze accurately the floor vibration. But this refine model is not efficient because it is required so much running time for vibration analysis and it is difficult of modeling of standard floor slab. In this paper, new modeling methods of standard floor slab are proposed for the accurate rigidity evaluation. By using the new modeling method, the accurate vibration response can be obtained and can accurately evaluate the rigidity of standard floor system with resilient materials. Therefore the proposed modeling method is of practical use for vibration analysis of floor system of apartment building.

A common form of construction for apartment buildings consists of walls and coupling element. But, the structural behavior of coupling element are very complex and affected by the properties of coupling element. The propose of this paper is to evaluation the behavior of coupling element in wall-dominant system. An 1/2 scale three specimens was constructed and under cyclic loads. The specimen was consisted of opening walls and coupling element as well as floor slabs. From the result of this study, in coupling slabs, the stresses were not uniform across the width. And the effective width of coupling slabs was found smaller than the that of predicted from previous studies.
To reinforce bearing capacity-changed section or different foundation in the same building, empirical or simple tools have been used. To solve this problem, an analytical solution which can evaluate and reinforce the stability of foundation is introduced. To suggest a clue for the problems, current foundation reinforcing method is studied through recent literature studies and the structural analyses of foundation slab are performed on the pile foundation of 49$m^2$, 59$m^2$ and 84$m^2$ I type apartments in 15 story building. The analyses are conducted with SAP 2000, a computer program for ordinary structural analysis. To predict the moments of slab by ground non-uniformity, the structural analysis results for the foundation slab of 3 types 15 story apartment buildings in 49$m^2$, 59$m^2$ and 84$m^2$ I type on non-uniformity ground are shown in the diagrams.

The purpose of this study is to present an improvement building construction process by using prefabricated materials. The current slab form work has waste factor by unnecessary process and not complete integration with the finishing process. Therefore the study used value stream analysis methodology for effective improvement of slab form work process. The main contents of the study are as follows; 1) Non-value adding activities were found at existing slab form work process by current state mapping(CSM) 2) Future state mapping(FSM) suggest process Integration to slab form work. 3) Slab form work is analyzed reduction time-cost by prefabricated material. The study recommends that, as a future research, development of tool and technique for the non-value adding activities are eliminated in building construction and application of prefabricated material should be increased.

There are a growing number of cases to expand balconies of apartments faced with open air in order to enhance functional satisfaction and efficiency of dwelling space. In case of the balcony expansion at the floor, however, it is difficult to exclude a possibility of bringing about internal condensation due to the difference of temperature between indoor air and outdoor air caused by the Inflow of outer low-temperature air through the upper part of ceilings by failure in completely putting together the outer composite wall panels on the aluminum curtain walls installed at outer walls This study is to forecast possible occurrence of internal condensation around parapets and H-beam located at the inside of balcony ceilings on the uppermost floor of super-high apartment buildings faced with open air in order to provide dwellers with more comfortable environment in the related space and get rid of their uneasiness about the condensation. In this study, we estimated internal condensation, which vary in accordance with humidity pressure distribution, at curtain walls, stone panels or lower parts of slabs that constitute outer space of the residence and are weak against heat, through temperature forecast and temperature distribution interpretation program at normal two-dimension temperature

In general, post-installed dowel bars are used as a shear connector to ensure the composite actions between new slabs and existing slabs in an apartment remodelling constructions expecially for enlarging the interior space outward the existing buildings. But, it has not been checked that the connection performance between existing and new slab is satisfactory not only for the structural safety condition but also the for serviceability and dwelling requirements. In this research, an experimental works were presented to evaluate the load transfer capacity for the planar joints between existing and new slab. The existing slabs were obtained from the existing apartment housing which will be demolished, and were retrofitted with carbon fiber plate. Test results showed that the planar joints with post-installed dowel bars behaved in full composite modes until ultimate capacity of test specimens, so sufficient ultimate and serviceability performance are confirmed.

On 30 June, 2017, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport announced the minimum size of parking section will be expanded in parking lots. The expansion of parking section could lead to increase in apartment prices because of increase in total area of the parking lots. It is necessary to adjust the column spacing and number in the parking lots and to apply the 8-Bay long-span parking module with good parking efficiency. According to the study, the construction cost of the 6-Bay module and 8-Bay module was almost the same. But The 8-Bay module was more economical than the 6-Bay module because of the reduction in total area of 8-Bay multi-moduel. The Result of construction cost of 8-Bay modules, Removal Deck-plate RC system was most economical. While the construction cost of PC system was higher due to increase in volume of the member, it would ensure sufficient economy by reducing the girder height to apply a pre-stress method. Also, the construction cost of hollow slab system was the highest. But it could be used as the underground parking lots for apartment, because it had the lowest cost per square meter. This Study has a academic significance by proving the applicability of the 8-Bay Module to underground parking lot of apartment. And it is expected that this study will be used as basic data to derive optimal construction method that applies 8-Bay Module.
