Monogonent Rotifers (Monogononta ; Rotifera) Inhabiting Several Lowland Swamps in Kyngsangnam-do , Korea (경남 자연늪에 서식하는 단성 윤형동물)

  • The rotifers inhabiting several lowland swamps in Kyngsangnam-do were taxonomically investigated. Collectings were carried out four times at 10 sites in such lowland swamps as Up, Chunam-ji , Chilnal-np and Oisong-np from 22 February 1988 to 2 October 1988. As a result, 4 spcies, 9 subspecies, 2 varieties and 2 forms of monogonont rotifiers in 5 families were identified, of which following 3 species and 3 subspecies are new to Korea ; Testudinella mucronata hauerensis, Platyias quadricornis , Mytilina acanthophora, Lecane ungulata ungulata. Trichocerca bicristata bicristata, and Dicranophorus epicharis.

  • Thirty-three species or subspecies of marine peteriomorphs from Ullng Island, Korea are described . All the described species are new to the fauna of this island. Among them, five speices, Modiolus (Modiolus) comptus Sowerby, 1915, Gregareiella coralliophaga(Gmelin, 1791) , Musculus (Musculus) laevigatus (Gray, 1824), Chlamys(Coralichlamys) jousseaumei Bavay, 19.4, Spndylus (Spondylus) varius Sowerby, 1829 are newly recorded in Korean waters. These five species are redescribed.

  • The rotifers collected from various terrestrial habitats, such as mosses, lichens, dry detritus and temporary pools after rain were investigated. Five species and/or subspecies in two families of digonont rotifers were identified: Rotaria tardigrada, Macrotrachela quadricornifera quadricornifera, Macrotrachela quadricornifera scutellata, Adineta vaga minor, Adineta steineri. All these are new to Korean fauna. This is the first taxonomic study on the Korean digonont rotifers.

  • The authors examined intertidal and sublittoral balanomorph barnacles which were collected from 38 localities in South Korea during the period from 1963 to 1978. 2. Identified and classified materials are composed of 15 species and 2 subspecies, all of which are described, under 10 genera and 5 damilies, of which 2 species and 1 subspecies are new to Korea as follows: Chelonibia patula, Chirona (Striatobalanus) amaryllis, Solidobalanus (Hesperibalanus) hesperius hesperius. 3. As dominant species, Chthamalus challengeri and Tetraclita squamosa japonica are widely distributed in Korea through East Sea, South Sea and Yellow Sea. 4. Balanus albicostatus and B. kondakovi are commonly found in intertidal brackish waters of Yellos Sea and South Sea, whereas, B. trigonus and Megabalanus rosa are typical sublittoral forms.

  • A basic survey of Echinococcus infection in cattle slaughtered at seogipo abattoir, Jeju Island was carried out. The incidence of hydatid cyst was 0.4% in the native cattle, that is 4 heads out of 993 heads of the slaughtered cattle. The hydatid cysts with or without scolices were found in the liver and lung, and the speciation of them was determined as Echinococcus granulosus granulosus with the morphological and biological characters. The infection rates of bovine echinococcosis were as high as 6.8% to 27.5% from 1936 to 1940 in Jeju cattle, but it has been found greatly decreased to 0.4% in this survey. The main reason of decrease in the incidence was cleared with the fact that wild dogs were abundant at that times.

  • The systematic study of recent freshwater ostracods were conducted on the materials collected from 48 localities in South Korea. Four species of ostracods are identified, and all of them are new to South Korea : Cyprinotus uenoi Brehm , 1936, Heterocypris incongruens (Ramdohr, 1808), Dolerocypris fasciata(O.F.Mller, 1776 ), Dolerocypris sinensis Sars, 1903. Up to now seven species (5 species and 2 subspecies ) of recent ostracods are known to South Korea.

  • Five species of Tomoceridae from Korean caves are reviewed , including one speices described as new to science. T. (M.) odongnyeoensis n.sp. belong to the subgenus of new record for Korea. The present study eventually resulted in listing eight species in five subgenera of Korea cave Tomoceridae, and all Collebola from Korean caves nowenumerate 23 species (or subspecies) in nine genera of eight families.

  • 1963년 5월부터 1993년8월에 걸쳐 한국 해역 99개 지점에서 채집된 물레고둥상과, 홍줄고둥 상과 및 감생이고둥상과의 표본 3713개체를 동정, 정리하고, 문헌들을 검토하여 9과 97종 9아종의 목록을 작성하였다. 채집된57종과 4종에 대하여는 외부 형태의 도판을 작성하였으며, 과거 기재가 없었거나 불충분하였던 물레고둥 상과에 속하는 Zafra mitriformis, Nassarius (Hima) pauperus, Plicifusus plicatus, Phos varicosus, Microfusus acutispirata, Siphonalia modificata, Buccinum opisoplectum, Muccinum polare, Latirulus nagasakiensis, Granulifusus niponicus 및 홍준고둥 상과에 속하는 Lyria(Lyria)acssidula, Olivella(Olivella)ulgurata, Psephaea kaneko를 재기재하였다. 이 중 Z. mitriformis, P. varicosus, G. niponicus는 한국 미기록종이다.

ITS 염기서열에 의한 한국산 미나리아재비속 미나리아재비절의 분류학적 검토

  • 한국산 미나리아재비속 미나리아재비(Acris Schur)절에 속하는 미나리아재비(Ranunculus japonicus)와 근연종인 산미나리아재비(R. acris var. nipponicus) 및 바위미나리아재비(R. crucilobus)의 실체와 분류학적 한계를 파악하기위해 속, 종간 규명에 많이 이용하고 있는 핵리보좀(ribosomal) DNA의 internal transcribed spacer 구간의 염기서열을 분석하였다. 본 연구는 6개의 군외군을 포함하여 총 18개의 DNA 재료(accessions)의 정열된 염기서열들을 바탕으로 bootsrap을 포함한 maximum parsimony와 maximum likelihood 분석법에 의한 계통수로 평가하였다. 연구 결과 Acris절에 속하는 미나리아재비, 산미나리아재비 및 바위미나리아재비는 단계통군으로 나타났으며 특히 미나리아재비(R. japonicus)와 산미나리아재비(R. acris var. nipponicus)는 같은 분계조를 형성하였다. 이와 달리 바위미나리아재비는 미나리아재비와 산미나리아재비에서 분지된 결과를 보여, 한라산 해발 1500m이상의 높은 지역에 분포하는 바위미나리아재비는 미나리아재비의 아종(R. japonicus Thunb. subsp. chrysotrichus (Nakai) Y. N. Lee, comb. nud.)으로 처리하기보다는, 독립된 고유종인 R. crucilobus H. L$\acute{e}$v.으로의 처리를 지지하였다.
