  • 아라뱃길은 다양한 수리구조물의 조작을 통하여 선박운항 및 홍수처리가 이루어지며 유입홍수량, 한강수위, 그리고 서해조위 변동과 연계하여 귤현보, 서해배수문, 체절수문, 그리고 배수펌프장 등의 대표적인 구조물 운영을 지원할 수 있는 홍수위 계산모형이 필요하다. HEC-RAS모형은 이러한 수리구조물 운영을 효과적으로 경계조건으로 반영할 수 있는 장점이 있다. 특히 서해배수문의 경우 조위변동과 내수위를 동시에 고려한 수문운영이 필요하여 Rule-script기능을 적용하여 이러한 특성을 반영하였다. 모형의 검보정을 위하여 2010년 9월 홍수사상을 적용하였으며 모형으로부터 계산된 수위값과 관측된 수위값이 서로 잘 일치함을 확인하였다.

A Laboratory Study for Settling Velocities of Cohesive Sediments Entering in Semi-closed Channel (준 폐수로로 유입되는 점착성 퇴적물의 침강속도 산정을 위한 실험적 연구)

  • This study aims to estimate settling velocity ($W_s$) for cohesive sediments from water bodies (Incheon Coast, Kulpo Stream and Han River) mainly connected to the Kyeongin Ara-waterway through the laboratory settling experiments. Results of settling tests for these sediments show that $W_s$ values for sediments are quite different each other: $W_s$ values of Kulpo Stream sediments (0.01 < $W_s$ < 3.07 mm/s) are quite similar with those of Han River sediments (0.01 < $W_s$ < 2.97 mm/s) over the whole range of suspension concentration C (0.1 < C < 90 g/ L), while they are quite different with those for Incheon Coast sediments (0.01 < $W_s$ <0.92 mm/s). Qualitative analyses on test results for physico- chemical properties of sediments and waters with respect to settling velocities show that these differences in settling velocities are mainly due to the salinity difference in the water.

Development of Flood Routing Model in the Navigation Waterway to Support Operations of Weir and Flood Gate (가동보 및 배수문운영을 고려한 주운수로 홍수위 산정모형 구축)

  • HEC-RAS has been applied to simulate water level variation in the Ara waterway during the flood season. To support decision making necessary for operation of the hydraulic structures especially during the flood season, it is important to consider various factors such as water level of the Han River, Gulpo River, and tidal level of the west sea in conjunction with operation of the hydraulic structures such as the Gyulhyun Weir, the West sea gate, and pumping stations. Especially for operation of the west sea gate, the Rule-script option was employed to determine the opening height considering the variation of the water level in the waterway and the west sea simultaneously. For model verification, comparison of water level computed at the upstream and downstream of the regulation weir shows a good agreement with observed data measured during the flood event in September 2010. The HEC-RAS model developed in this study will contribute to support operation of the waterway during the flood season.

Distribution on the Alien Plants in the Gyeong-in Ara Waterway, Korea (경인 아라뱃길의 외래식물 분포 현황)

  • This study was carried out to investigate distribution on the alien plants in the Gyeong-in Ara Waterway. The alien plants were a total of 82 taxa: 17 families, 63 genera, 80 species, and 2 varieties. This number corresponds to 25.5% of alien plants identified in Korea. The proportion of alien plants in every year was increased from upstream to downstream. As the result of the analysis on vegetation stratification, bank of waterside was covered with artificial materials preventing existence of vegetation, and had step-type cross section. Floodplain was composed of waterfront area. An array of vegetation was not typical dispersion, and terrestrial and alien plants were dominated the Gyeong-in Ara Waterway. Evaluation of naturalness based on the vegetation stratification showed grade 3 or 4. In order to solve a problem, method and level of restoration should be decided based on the result of diagnostic assessment. Therefore, we need to restore the step-type cross section as pool type one. From waterside to bank in this waterway, we recommend to introduce natural plants by imitating reference species composition. Since, an invasion of alien plants is expected to be accelerated due to the continuous artificial disturbance, we recommend to quantitative investigation on the invasion of alien plants and monitoring on the change of distribution.

Comparative Exploration of Gyeongin Ara Waterway Recognition Before and After COVID-19 Outbreak Using Unstructured Big Data (비정형 빅데이터를 활용한 코로나19 발병 전후 경인 아라뱃길 인식 비교 탐색)

  • The Gyeongin Ara Waterway is a regional development project designed to transport cargo by sea and to utilize the surrounding waterfront area to enjoy tourism and leisure. It is being used as a space for demonstration projects for urban air transportation (UAM), which has recently been attracting attention, and various efforts are being made at the local level to strengthen cultural and tourism functions and revitalize local food. This study examined the perception and trends of tourism consumers on the Gyeongin Ara Waterway before and after the outbreak of COVID-19. The research method utilized semantic network analysis based on social network analysis. As a result of the study, first, before the outbreak of COVID-19, key words such as bicycle, Han River, riding, Gimpo, Seoul, hotel, cruise ship, Korea Water Resources Corporation, emotion, West Sea, weekend, and travel showed a high frequency of appearance. After the outbreak of COVID-19, keywords such as cafe, discovery, women, Gimpo, restaurant, bakery, observatory, La Mer, and cruise ship showed a high frequency of appearance. Second, the results of the degree centrality analysis showed that before the outbreak of COVID-19, there was increased interest in accommodations for tourism, such as Marina Bay and hotels. After the outbreak of COVID-19, interest in food such as specific bakeries and cafes such as La Mer was found to be high. Third, due to the CONCOR analysis, five keyword clusters were formed before the outbreak of COVID-19, and the number of keyword clusters increased to eight after the outbreak of COVID-19.

Analysis of Characteristics in Ara River Basin Using Fractal Dimension (프랙탈 차원을 이용한 아라천 유역특성 분석)

  • In this study, with the assumption that the geographical characteristics of the river basin have selfsimilarity, fractal dimensions are used to quantify the complexity of the terrain. For this, Area exponent and hurst exponent was applied to estimate the fractal dimension by using spatial analysis. The result shows that the value of area exponent and hurst exponent calculated by the fractal dimension are 2.008~2.074 and 2.132~2.268 respectively. Also the $R^2$ of area exponent and hurst exponent are 94.9% and 87.1% respectively too. It shows that the $R^2$ is relatively high. After analyzing the spatial self-similarity parameter, it is shown that traditional urban area's moderate slope geographical characteristic closed to 2D fractal in Ara water way. In addition, the relation between fractal dimension and geographical elements are identified. With these results, fractal dimension is the representative value of basin characteristics.

Coverage Analysis of VHF Aviation Communication Network for Initial UAM Operations Considering Real Terrain Environments (실제 지형 환경을 고려한 초기 UAM 운용을 위한 VHF 항공통신 커버리지 분석)

  • In the initial stages of urban air mobility (UAM) operations, compliance with existing visual flight rules and instrument flight regulations for conventional human-crewed aircraft is crucial. Additionally, voice communication between the on board pilot and relevant UAM stakeholders, including vertiports, is essential. Consequently, very high frequency (VHF) aviation voice communication must be consistently provided throughout all phases of UAM operations. This paper presents the results of the VHF communication coverage analysis for the initial UAM demonstration areas, encompassing the Hangang River and Incheon Ara-Canal corridors, as well as potential vertiport candidate locations. By considering the influence of terrain and buildings through the utilization of a digital surface model (DSM), communication quality prediction results are obtained for the analysis areas. The three-dimensional coverage analysis results indicate that stable coverage can be achieved within altitude corridors ranging from 300 m to 600 m. However, there are shaded areas in the low-altitude vertiport regions due to the impact of high-rise buildings. Therefore, additional research to ensure stable coverage around vertiports in the lower altitude areas is required.

Characteristics of water behavior and flow simulation in waterway (운하의 수체거동 특성 및 거동 모의)

  • 우리나라에 처음으로 건설된 경인운하는 한강과 서해를 잇는 길이 18km로 건설되었다. 이로 인해 한강과 서해에서 해수와 담수가 유입되고 유출되면서 매우 복잡한 수체 거동특성을 나타내고 있다. 특히 서해에서의 유입은 조위로 인해 유입량이 매일 변화하며 해수와 담수 간 비중차이로 인해 수심에 따른 거동특성도 상이하다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 수체거동특성을 조사하여 유수소통을 통한 수질관리에 활용하고자 한다. 수체의 거동을 조사하는 방법으로는 순간적인 유속을 조사하는 방법과 장기간 거동을 조사하는 방법이 있는데 본 조사에서는 부이를 이용하여 장기간 수체의 거동을 조사하였으며, 이 결과를 활용하여 EFDC모델을 적용한 모의를 실시하였다. 수체 거동조사는 2013년과 2014년에 걸쳐 주요지점에서 수심별로 수행하였다. 2014년 2월 18일에 아라마루 지점에서 수심 1m와 3m 지점에서 조사를 실시하였다. 이 기간 중 한강의 유입량은 최소 $5.2m^3/sec$, 최대 $14.2m^3/sec$을 나타냈고, 서해 유입량은 갑문의 유입과 배수문의 유출입량을 더하여 최대 $274.6m^3/sec$를 나타냈으며, 서해 유출량은 $136.9m^3/sec$으로 나타났다. 수심 1 m에서는 해수의 유입과 유출량에 의해 뚜렷한 유속의 변화를 확인할 수 있으며, 유출시 최대 유속은 38.5 cm/sec이고, 유입시 최대 유속은 49.3 cm/sec로 나타났다. 수심 3 m에서는 해수의 유입과 유출량에 의해 뚜렷한 유속의 변화를 확인할 수 있으며, 유출시 최대 유속은 34.4 cm/sec이고, 유입 시 최대 유속은 40.0cm/sec로 나타났다. 다양한 상황에 대한 운하수체의 유속 특성을 산정하기 위하여 수리모델을 적용하여 모의를 실시하였으며 한강에서 유입된 수체가 서해에 도달하는 시간을 산정해 보았다. 모의 조건은 2014년 5월 12일부터 22일까지의 유량조건을 경계조건으로 하였으며, particle tracking의 시작지점은 경인아라뱃길 김포터미널 지점 표층 1m를 대상으로 하였다. 모의 결과 김포터미널의 수체가 인천갑문에 도달 하는데 약 6.3일이 소요되는 것으로 산정되었다. 이는 유출입량 변화에 따라 달라지므로 향후 보다 다양한 조건에서 모의를 실시하여 수질관리에 활용할 수 있는 다양한 자료를 제공할 수 있을 것으로 판단되었다.
