The Influence of Autonomy, Competency, Relatedness on Burnout among Nurses (자율성, 유능감, 관계성이 간호사 소진에 미치는 영향)

  • This study aimed to assess the influence of burnout with satisfaction of basic psychological needs among nurses. From oct, 25, 2013 to nov, 25, 2013, participants included 160 nurses from 6 major general hospital located in urban areas in Korea. Data for basic psychological needs and burnout were collected through a self-reported questionnaire and were analyzed with independent t-test and analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression analysis. This study shows negative correlations between burnout and autonomy(r=-.45, P<.001), competency(r=-.52, P<.001), relatedness(r=-.49, P<.001). The variables predicting burnout were autonomy(${\beta}=-.26$), competency(${\beta}=-.30$), relatedness(${\beta}=-.12$), age(${\beta}=-.17$), number of service years(${\beta}=.09$). These variables accounted for 34.3% of the variance of burnout in nurses. Our results indicated that it is necessary to increase basic psycological needs to decrease burnout. Therefore nursing managers should develop programs in order to increase autonomy, relatedness and competency.

  • Well-set tabletops influence customers' purchase behavior or post-purchase behavior by making the quality and image of a restaurant distinguished and customers impressed. This study aims to investigate the relations between the perception of environment among physical environments of restaurants and psychological responses to their tabletops and consumers' attitudes in order to suggest new guidelines for table-setting. As a result, the direct relations between the perception of environment in the tabletops of the restaurants and consumers' behavioral intention indicated that the perception factors of tabletops affected consumer behavior and that these perception factors affected the formation of general attitudes among consumers through emotional and cognitive responses. This result shows that tabletops can be an important key in managing restaurants with changing customer needs. Therefore, it is expected that positive customer attitude can be made by provoking their psychological responses with unique and attractive tabletop settings.

  • This study is about the special quality which has craft-kitsch as a typical objects in modern mass consumption society. Today, kitsch is one of the most general object for understanding of our lifestyle. Accordingly, there is close correlation between craft objects and kitsch. But, discussions on the relation between craft and kitsch have not dealt quite satisfied up to the present. This paper draws up as a basic study on craft-kitsch. The purpose of this study was to examine the relation of kitsch and craft in modern society.   • Apartment brand has been used as a new strategy in Korean housing market to fulfill customer's changing needs for buying houses. A number of construction companies have succeeded in brand awareness and image building, however, they still struggle to establish brand loyalty and manage brand equity elements in balance. The purpose of this study is to analyze the brand equity building process of apartment products in Korean housing market and determine causal relationships among variables to propose strategies for long-term prosperity of the construction companies. System Dynamics modeling method is applied to describe how variables affect and are linked to each other in terms of building equity and enhancing company profits from customers' brand awareness to brand loyalty. Based on the analysis model, strategies for construction companies depending on their market share were proposed and this may support the company to achieve financial success and competitiveness among its competitors in the fast-changing market.

The Educational Implementation of e-Learning System Applying the Theory of Motivation - With Focus on "Interest" and the "Self-Determination Theory" (동기 이론이 적용된 e-Learning system의 교육적 실천: 흥미와 SDT를 중심으로)

  • This study examines and measures the enhancement of intrinsic motivation in learners who have been part of the e-Learning system (www.englishbuddy.kr) for elementary-level English learning, developed based on the systematic application of the motivation theory as dictated by 'interest' and 'self-determination' and put into practice at 3,100 private tutoring institutions. According to the survey conducted on 328 learners in the e-Learning system inspired by the motivation theory and on 150 learners in other English programs, the former was found to have stimulated 'interest' and satisfied 'psychological desire' in the learners, leading to the development of 'specific strategies to motivate learners.' The study has clearly identified how learners are better motivated in the e-Learning environment, demonstrating its contributions to advancing e-Learning, building a practical e-Learning system based on a systematic motivation theory defined by 'interest' and 'self-determination,' and applying the system to some 16,000 learners at 3,100 private tutoring institutions.

  • In recent years space planning for modern city has been accomplished through scientific high technique and computer supported collaborative work. Relatively human being is treated as a component of the space or whole building and according to the social structure people tend to prefer private space. The necessity of the open space as an active place is emphasized now because the interaction created between users of the space and the nature, surrounding environment can influence on improving quality of outdoor life and giving the place specific identity. In this paper three ways of analyses of components which compose the open space are studied. Especially through the process of analyses derived from differenet areas, the necessity of communication model in collaborative work is proposed.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of phased horticultural therapy(HT) program on the experience of psychologic therapy and the development of job and social integration in the mentally handicapped persons. In this study, the mentally handicapped persons participated in HT program were chosen in disabled person's welfare institute of Jeonnam. HT program was performed twice a week with 1 hour activity for 4 months. As a results, the mentally handicapped persons participated in HT program showed high interest of horticulture and improvement of self-respect and the high satisfactory degree of HT program. Therefore, the mentally handicapped persons were showed the experience of both physical and mental therapy, improvement of self-esteem scale and sociality in HT program. Also, the application of HT program with continuously interest will be showed high improvement of physical, psychological and sentimental. In the course of this HT program progress, horticultural therapist and social welfare officer were showed the limitation of role. Therefore the leaders of group for successful HT program be required the comprehensive plan of more efficient HT program and induced technique of continuously up-phased improvements in HT program progress.

  • Carbonated drinks are a kind of drink that is popular in our daily lives and are sold mainly among young people. There are many brands of carbonated drinks currently on sale, and most of them emphasize the distinction of texture, and brand images and packages have further commercialized package design as a whole. It is necessary to increase the emotional experience of soda package design, which can increase the added value of the brand. Sensibility is the most common psychological experience in humans and is the subjective experience and feeling of things. By combining the emotional experience with the package design of carbonated drinks, it provides more emotional user experience while purchasing carbonated drinks, realizing diversification of product package designs and satisfying consumers' emotional needs. This paper first examines the package design of carbonated drinks, I hope it will be an implication if you increase the emotional experience of soda package design.

Psycho-Social Determinants of Subjective Well-being and Physical Health of a Retired Elders in Korea: A Longitudinal Study on the occupational classification (은퇴 노인의 주관안녕과 신체건강에 영향을 미치는 요인들: 은퇴전 직종에 따른 종단 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to find out the impact of psycho-social factors (social relationship and personal) as well as illness history and economic status on physical health and subjective well-being among the retired Koreans elderly. Data were collected from 1,315 elders (mean age = 72.70yrs) residing in Seoul and Chuncheon regional area via interviews(Time 1), and them were re-interviewed two year later(Time 2). Multiple regression analyses indicated that the retired elders' illness history, economic status, marital satisfaction, fulfillment of self-esteem need, drinking behavior, positive affectivity, negative affectivity and physical health to predict their subjective well-being at Time 1(R2=.705). The retired elders' economic status, marital satisfaction, positive affectivity, negative affectivity and physical health to predict their subjective well-being at Time 2(R2=.418). The retired elders' illness history, economic status, expectations for one's offspring, drinking behavior and subjective well-being to predict their physical health at Time 1(R2=.364). And the retired elders' illness history, economic status, marital satisfaction, positive affectivity and negative affectivity to predict their physical health at Time 2(R2=.265). In case of retired elderly, suggested for the psycho-social determenants of subjective well-being and physical health by occupational classification. The implications of this study and the suggestions for furture study were discussed.

Study on Operating Strategy for Recreation Forests through Comparing the Level of User Satisfaction according to Clusters (군집별 만족도 비교를 통한 자연휴양림의 효율적 운영 방안 연구)

  • Recreation forests are in the spotlight as the place for personality development, mind and body comfort, companionship, and environment education in forests and valleys. Visitors to recreation forests have been on the increase along with booming in recreation forest building since 1988. Recreation forests are being categorized according to some features such as regional and environmental condition. Recreation forests, however, have not met the expectations of some visitors who want to take a rest with calmness due to the influence of the 5-day-work-week system, increasing interest in rest, leisure, and well-being, and users converge during weekends, summer, and the tourist season. In order to improve visitors' satisfaction efficiently, this study surveyed the level of satisfaction in each cluster based on the precedent study which had classified 85 national or public recreation forests in Korea into clusters. Questionnaires were distributed properly to each cluster and, of the 1,132 questionnaires collected, 1,015 were valid and used for analysis. Reliability of questionnaires and statistical validity of the model were verified. As a result, there are meaningful differences in the ranking of independent variables which affect the level of satisfaction according to clusters. Variables in rest and fatigue recovery have the strongest influence on the level of satisfaction in the clusters of potential factor, internal activation factor, and mixed potential capacity factor. In the use performance and visiting condition factor cluster, appropriateness of visit cost is most influential and, in the education cluster, connectivity with tourist attractions around it is most affective. These results can provide priority in services and maintenance of recreation forests for improving the level of satisfaction and differentiate the distribution of resources according to clusters.
