  • Experimental animation is an independent art animation and a visual art that is integrated with the spirit of experimentation. Norman McLaren pursues original beauty in each piece through scientific exploration of visual expression technology and experiment that transcends common sense with great creativity and sensitivity, and the aesthetic value of animation is very high as the master of experimental animation that has brought innovation of real image media today. Therefore, it is meaningful to analyze the experimental expressions of Norman McLaren, who expanded the field of experimental animation by challenging various techniques and carried out a ceaseless search for motion creation between each frame, and to study the expressions of movement he focused on. The most significant feature of his movement expression was analyzed as repetition of motion and repetition of metamorphosis. I hope that this derivation will be understood as experimental animation of experimental method which requires more specific type of inquiry than simple question about experimental method. Also, I hope that it will be meaningful as a preliminary study to deeply explore the possibility and direction of animation creation in university education.

With such efforts on diversification of public benefits and communality conforming to its purpose, it has been recognized for its contribution to the recovery of popularity of performance art and plays in Daegu. The Daegu Municipal Theatre, celebrating the 20th anniversary of establishment this year and having Choi Ju-Hwan as its fifth art director, has managed to conduct various experimental attempts to gain popularity and these include the exploration of the region and its historical figures, development and promotion of creative musicals, and promotion of communication between citizens and performance culture and of participation of audiences, in turn having a stabilized operation system. Such changes are seemed to be attributable to the maturity of performance production and roles of senior members. • A work of Art is not supposed to be isolated from the world, but it should be influenced by its cultural background and situations of the times. Therefore, Art itself reflects its era. In other words, it is created being based on the thought of its artist and simultaneously interacting with external conditions or circumstances of the era, so it would also affect the cultural code of its society. This is why modern art made by the individual living in this complicated and diversified society is quite avant-garde. Various demands from its society and diversified senses have been influencing diversification of works of Art. Now we can say that a mode of art is also dose to current stream of the times. A lot of artists have been trying to get out of traditional way of presentation techniques and classification of genres. • The inter-disciplinarity in arts is not confined to recent issues. It has been sought to exceed the boundaries of each genre for the novelty and vision different from before. Among those efforts, this thesis focuses on the collaboration of Merce Cunningham and Robert Rauschenberg who were leading artists in 1960s. Their collaborative works marked with innovative concepts ever in performing arts. They pursued new possibilities in both dance and painting through reformist experiments of chance operation, or improvisational encounters of the unexpected. After the end of their collaboration, they developed their own artistic creations such as Cunningham's shifting from theater to video dance executed in virtual space of computer and Rauschenberg's new "Combines" series. This study examines how the two artists practically embodied the concepts of chance, impermanence and formlessness, centering around their meaningful collaborations from 1954 to 1964.

  • This is the one concept of the Korea paintings which defines the korea Art sprite. The line of korea painting is very important. It is impressions, korea artist had mastered the difficult art line of representing movement. That offers the important motive, that is discovery of Identity. this korea painting's line is like to meditation. To meditate is to think and ponder about the same holy truth for many hours on end, to fix an idea in one's mind and to look at it from all sides without letting go of it. That is the purpose behind the greatest of the korean landscape paintings Futhermore that is the purpose Shui-Mo paintings. This is the most important. What the korean value most highly in art. There is something wonderful in this restraint of Korea art, in its deliberate limitation to a few simple motifs of nature. But today, anyone did not interested in this motif. So that Shui-Mo paintings did not concerned too. Therefore, we consider it childish to look for details in pictures and then to compare them with the real world. We masters to acquire such a facility in the handling of brush and ink that write down their vision while their inspiration was still fresh.

  • Mr. Folman, an Israeli director, used a highly stylized form of animation in a decidedly adult way to make his documentary about the 1982 war in Lebanon, "Waltz With Bashir," in 2008. After 5 years, he has used another distinctive approach, fusing animation with live action in his latest film, a trippy and surreal undertaking called "The Congress." He dismantled the means through parodies, the core of post-modernism art and built a new meaning to create a unique world view and unique aesthetics. In this study, parodies of the modern concept of post-modernism being used as a major strategy in the creation of art have appeared the four characteristics of post-modern parody: 1) intertextuality, 2) dissolution and fusion of genres, and 3) strengthening of irony, and 4) pastiche. This study is characteristic of post-modern parody that discusses the relevance of contemporary parody and postmodernism being developed by analyzing how they appear on the practical work. Furthermore, through analysis of "The Congress", this study discusses the post-modernist world view and the creative way of creating an experimental art with parody.

  • In the twenty first century of rapid cultural change performing art requires new mode of expression based on imaginative power and creativity as well as establishing its own identity. The modern technological environment support this with advanced technology and bring about the expansion of reason from new experience. The introduction of digital media on artistic expression in particular, expands the physical ability of human body which is the main subject of performing art. A virtual body from digital technology is freed from physical boundaries and goes over space and time. It also suggests the possibility of new mode of communication with audience. This study aims at examining the subject of performing art and its digitalized movement focusing on EveR, the world's first professional robot actor. The robot actor which came on stage according to the new expression medium, a digital body, stands in need not only of technological value but also of cultural and artistic application for expression in art. In this endeavor to meet the demand, this study examines the development process and function of 'EveR' the robot actor. Also it searches into the performance of Ever which replaced human being as well as the historical significance of the title:the world's first. To be more specific, there is a example research on two performances:a pansori play "EveR is simply stunning(2009)" and children's play "The Robot Princess and Seven Dwarfs(2009)." Through this example research, it is enabled to anticipate the influence of robot actors on performing arts and to search for the better way of them to evolve. Furthermore, it aims at finding ways to create high value through promoting robot actors to be familiar to the public as well as supporting them to become active cultural contents. The performance with robotic technology is one of the artistic experiment that may cause the change of the future of performing art by actualizing technological imagination together with human body and machinery. As a consequence, it is expected that the meeting of performing art and robotic technology gives positive influence on activating performing art as one of the integrated cultural phenomenon which satisfies the taste of modern era. Moreover, this study may also be the beginning of the expansion of performing art to stretch to diverse field.
