The purpose of this study is to explore what social workers experience and how they experience the needs of Meritocracy in the social welfare organization in the neoliberalism.. Therefore, in-depth interviews were conducted with 18 social workers, and I analyzed Colaizzi(1978) in a phenomenological method through collected research materials. As a result, the analysis is integrated in a total of four essential themes. According to the research results, the meritocracy - oriented phenomenon in the social welfare organization was 'paradox of Meritocracy'. Participants were buried in creating "nominal performance without any effectiveness" based on effectiveness and efficiency. Clients were instrumentalized in performance; moreover, they lost contact points with the field. Above all, there was "a reorganization of practices" that contradicted the original values of practice, in which the quality deterioration of service and the connection between organizations were weakened. In addition, the implementation of accountability of social welfare organization, which was intended by Meritocracy, has become a criterion for external evaluation, and the challenge of uncertain result has left a "rigid accountability without discretion." While participants were devoted to making a nominal performance, they failed to be guaranteed by the distinct characteristics of social welfare group. They experienced lost pride of the practitioner in the reality which contained the value of social welfare. However, in spite of this paradox of Meritocracy, participants demonstrated flexibility in order to preserve the original value and reached "a compromise with reality in the identity conflict." Based on the results of the research, I presented the discussion and policy directions.
Purpose: This study was to determine the effect of knowledge of and attitude to Breast Self-Examination (BSE) on female university students' intention to practice. Methods: The subjects were female university students who participated in the Pink Ribbon Campaign of the Korea Breast Health Foundation held at H University on October 11, 2016. The data were collected using a questionnaire in Naver Office Form. The data were analyzed by $x^2$ test, t-test, Mann-Whitney U test, ANOVA and logistic regression model using SPSS 21.0 program. Results: Significant factors influencing the intention to practice were BSE educational experience and the benefits of BSE. The odds ratios were 3.61 and 5.92, respectively. Conclusion: It was found that the benefits of BSE were more influential than the educational experience on BSE as an influencing factors of BSE practice intention. Also, it was confirmed that attitude should be considered more important than knowledge in order to increase their practice intention. Since the benefits, among attitudinal factors, were confirmed as an influencing factor, BSE educational programs for female university students should put more focus on the benefits of BSE, not just sticking to delivering related knowledge.

The current Korean labour movement is at an impasse that is partly sustained by the idea of "strong" transnational corporations (TNCs) versus "weak" labour, and this perception is based on the "global-local dichotomy," wherein TNCs are depicted as abstract and structured entities operating at the global scale and workers are represented as having a concrete and weak presence within the local sphere. As an alternative perspective to break this "global" capital vs. "local" labour dichotomy, I focus on labour geography, which assumes that labour is not simply a factor of production but a sentient spatial actor that (un-)intentionally produces the landscape of capitalism. Borrowing insights from the multi-scalar perspective, this paper aims to understand the actual methods in which workers utilize spatial strategies through an empirical case study of the Nestlé Korea labour union strike in 2003. Based on this case study, this paper claims that workers are both capable of employing coordinated multi-scalar practices and can be more influential to the economic geographies of TNCs. Additionally, it suggests that workers' scalar practices are actually more complicated and multi-directional as a result of their complex and dynamic interactions with political, economic and cultural forces and actors at diverse geographical scales.
This study examined the relationship structure among personal and social cognitive factors contributing to professional help-seeking decisions to relieve distress of those in low-income, then suggested an appropriate model to inform knowledge for better social work practice. Using data of a purposive sampling from 331 low-income people, covariance structural analyses were conducted in two stages of model exploration, one for TPB model and another for its extended model including the level of distress, family support, and willingness. As results, in the path analyses with the observed variables of the basic components of the TPB, subjective norm showed the strongest effect on the intention, following by attitudes towards help-seeking, then behavioral control the least; in turn both the intention, positively, and behavioral control, negatively, contributed to help-seeking decisions. In the second stage of the path analyses with the extended model of the TPB, each of distress and family support demonstrated direct positive effect on each of attitudes, subjective norm, and behavioral control; each of the attitudes, subjective norm, and behavioral control showed positive effect on both intention and willingness; in turn, while intention showed strong positive effect on help-seeking decisions, willingness had no significant effect and behavioral control had negative effect on decisions. There were significant indirect effects of behavioral control on intention through willingness and of willingness on decisions through intention. These results suggested that the TPB model is useful for modeling help-seeking decisions through personal and social cognitions, especially the significance of subjective norm implied the importance of social cognition for the people in low-income with distress. Further, it was implied that the extended model needs to address particularity of those people in low-income and the mechanism shown by behavioral control and willingness implied the importance of practicing respect for the client's autonomy and will for self-support in social work practice.
Purpose: This study aimed to provide baseline data for establishing a sugar reduction policy at coffee shops by analyzing the factors that affect a coffee shop user's perception and behavioral intention of reducing sugar intake. Methods: An online survey was conducted involving 1,274 Daegu citizens aged 19-49 years, who had visited coffee shops within the last month. Results: When visiting a coffee shop, the purchase of sweet drinks was higher in the younger age group, and the addition of syrup or sugar was higher in the older age group. Of the total respondents, 42.1% were aware that some coffee shops accommodate reduced sugar requests, 57.9% perceived the need to reduce sugar in coffee shop beverages and 22.3% had purchased beverages intending to reduce their sugar intake. In addition, 59.7% knew about sugar nutrition labeling, and 68.8% perceived the need for nutrition labeling for sugar. When purchasing beverages, 35.6% checked the nutrition labeling, and 77.2% purchased alternative drinks when the sugar content was high. Guiding the choice of sweetness levels in coffee shop orders was seen to have the highest effectiveness and intention to reduce sugar intake. Moreover, the perceived need to reduce sugar intake had the most positive effect on the behavioral intention to reduce sugars in coffee shop beverages (β = 0.558, p < 0.001). Conclusion: Although the overall awareness and practice of reducing the sugar intake in coffee shop users were low, the behavioral intention to reduce sugars was positive, and this was most affected by the perception of the need to reduce sugars. Therefore, there is a need for differentiated education and promotion for each age group for recognizing the necessity and outlining methods for reducing sugar intake. Furthermore, coffee shops should reflect customer's sugar reduction needs.
This study examines a study of communication factor in Lunyu, as a communication text, in terms of communicator, audience, message, communication factor, communication text, interdisciplinary research. In many respects, it is generally accepted that Lunyu have been the generic references of the Oriental culture. Lunyu consider ethics, logic, and practicability as the qualifying requirement of communicator, asserting that communicator should speak true language, like a "chuntzu"(君子) does, and should also put their language into practice. The audience's attitude and method as contained in Lunyu are that hearers should have sharp ears for language, hear selectively the right language, and use the language suitable to the situation. It is also emphasized that the Hearer should actively lead in the situation of transactional communications. In Lunyu, one property of message is that language, which determines the rise and fall of a nation and is also the basis of judgement for other people, should comply with ethics and reasons and sould also be put into practice. In other words, credible message, as the practice of language, is the practical requirement of ethics and the qualification of a "chuntzu"(君子, superior man) in ruling the nation or conducting one's life.
The purpose of this study is to identify the effect of verbal violence experience by employees on turnover intention and the mediating effect of customer-member exchange(CMX) and job satisfaction in local healthy family support center(HFSC). The objectives of this study were to identify recognition, intention and practice to premarital examination of women and to define the predictors of intention and compliance to examination. The subjects for this study were 257 women at a university, college, a bank worker and health clinic visitor in Busan city. The date for this study was collected from August 25th to September 24th 2006 by structured questionaries, and were analyzed mean, standard deviations(SD), $x^2$-test, t-test and multiple Logistic regression using SPSS/WIN 12.0. The mean performance of the premarital examination was 28.4%. Thirty-five point five percent of unmarried women and 71.6 percent of married women had experience of heard premarital examination. The score of attitude toward premarital examination were that single women was 23.04 and married women was 22.55, respectively. The scores of behavioral control cognition between unmarried women and married women were statistically significant different. The predictor of premarital examination intention was necessity of premarital examination, and the predictors of examination compliance were experience of hearing examination and behavioral control cognition. Based on the results of this study, promoting recognition and behavioral control cognition by community healthcare organization and health professionals for empowering the premarital examination of women were needed.
This study seeks to dertermine the influence and mediating effect of work environments among counselors at National Protection Agencies for Elderly(NPAE), who are conducting elderly abuse prevention service when domestic and facility abuse is augmenting due to social distancing as a result of COVID-19, on turnover intention. This study ultimately applied the analysis of 290 replies to surveys that were distributed to 306 workers at a total of 34 National Protection Agencies for Elderly(NPAE). The nationwide investigation was carrid out from 1st July until 30th July, 2020. SPSS 23.0 was used for the analysis and the Sobel-Test was conducted to verify the multiple regression analysis and significance. This was for the confirmation of descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and mediation effect so that the influence and relationships of variables could be verified. The results are as follows. First the job stress of counselors in the NPAE had a positive effect on turnover intention. Second, the work environment of the NPAE was found to have a negative influence on turnover intention. Third, the work environment played a significant partially mediating role in the relation between the job stress and turnover intention among the counselors. Based on such research results, policy and practical implications to reduce the stress, improve the work environment and reduce turnover of counselors in the NPAE were presented.
This study aims to verify the effect of mother's career-related behavior on the intention of multicultural youths to school dropout intention and the mediating effect of academic adaptation. To this end, 1,121 middle school seniors were sampled in the 7th (2017) data of the Multicultural Youth Panel Survey, and the influence relationship of the model presented as a three-step method of analysis of the mediated effects of Baron & Kenny and the Sobel test were conducted. First, the analysis showed that mother's support, a subfactor of mother's career-related behavior, had a negative effect on dropout intention, and that mother's interference had a positive effect. Second, academi adaptation has been shown to have a negative effect on dropout intention. Third, mother's support, a subfactor of mother's career-related behavior, showed a positive influence on academi adaptation, and mother's interference showed a negative effect. Fourth, academi adaptation has been shown to be mediated in the relationship between career-related behavior and dropout intention. Based on the above results, practical implications were presented.
