A Study on the Moderating Effects of the R&D Fund Management System between National R&D Fund and Research Performance (정부지원 연구비와 연구성과간의 관계에서 연구비관리시스템의 조절효과)

  • In order to enhance the performance of National R&D program, it is required not only the R&D funds and human resources, but also the composition of the research environment in which the researchers could fully concentrate on study. Particularly in Korea, executive burdens that arise in the course of the administration of research fund are frequently causing difficulties in concentrating on study. To remove this burden on financial management and maximize the efficiency of research funding, the government has implemented the central management system of the R&D fund. This study analyzed the moderating effects of the centralized management system of the R&D fund on the relationship between government fund and performance of the university research. Based on the analyzed result, this study concluded that the higher level of centralized management system of the R&D fund is implemented, the more influence on research outcomes grow. This study is significant to extend previous research point of view, as well as analyze the practical effect of government policies.

  • Recently, cloud computing is being emerged paradigm that a support computing resource flexible and scalable to users as the want in distributed computing environment. Actually, cloud computing can be implemented and provided by virtualization technology. In this paper, we studied open source based cloud computing and built a educational practice system through cloud computing. Virtualization-based cloud computing provides optimized computing resources, as well as easy to manage practical resource and result. Therefore, we can save the time for configuration of practice environment. In the view of faculty, they can easily handle the practice result. Also, those practice condition reuse comfortably and apply to various configuration simply. And then we can increase capabilities and availabilities of limited resources.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of problem-based learning(PBL) of information communication ethics on the problem-solving skills of fifth- and sixth-grade elementary school students about information communication ethics and their attitude. The findings of the study were as follows: First, the PBL-based teaching materials for information communication ethics could serve to stir up the interest of students by letting them face problem situations caused by the disfunction of the information society. Second, a wide variety of teaching-learning activities including cooperative learning and discussion were implemented while the selected students performed the given problem-solving tasks, and the activities had a very good effect on PBL-based information communication ethics education. Third, PBL-based information communication ethics education could be one of effective ways to boost not only the problem-solving skills of students but the teaching interest and capability of teachers.

Design and Implementation of Distance Learner's Attendance Checking System Based on PC Camera (PC 카메라 기반 원격교육 학습자 출석 확인 시스템의 설계 및 구현)

  • A distance learning is diffusing rapidly in society. It is more difficult to confirm a learner's identity and learning processing in a distance learning. Distance learning has a checking attendance system because a teacher and student do not meet face to face. There are some checking attendance systems such as login check, SMS authenticating system, unexpected quiz, and so on. However, existing checking attendance system has some problems to check learner's attendance in a whole lesson. Therefore, this study designed and developed learner's attendance system based on PC camera's shot of certification in a whole lesson. This attendance checking system can judge real attendance of learners in a distance learning and distance evaluation. The system is expected to make trust of a distance learning higher.

A Study on Perceptions of Scientifically Gifted Middle School Students about Engineering Design Process (중학교 과학 영재들의 공학 설계 과정에 대한 인식 조사 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the perceptions of scientifically gifted middle school students about their engineering design process according to gender and talent division. The instrument in surveying their perceptions about the engineering design process consists of 24 items (Likert 5 point type) five domains: problem definition, information collection and utilization, idea generation, inquiry performance, and teamwork (communication, cooperation, leadership). A total of 102 scientifically gifted students participated in the survey, according to gender (69 males and 33 females) and talent divisions (physics, biological sciences, software, mathematics, space-geological sciences, and chemistry). They had a high level of awareness of their engineering design ability. It is necessary to develop a customized gifted-education program so that their talent in their field of interest can be fully displayed according to the gender and talent division. In addition, the teaching and learning methods and strategies of the engineering design program for the scientifically gifted middle school students should be established to fully reflect the practical needs of the talented.

  • The purpose of this research is to estimate the chemistry teacher's perceptions of Chemistry I course based on the 7th national curriculum through actual class teaching situations and interviews and teaching guidance of an actual class through a lesson and an interview. For this research, four chemistry teachers who have had an experience teaching the chemistry I course were selected. As the results of the research show, chemistry teachers had the correct understanding of the purpose of the Chemistry I course, but they were teaching the concepts of Chemistry II . They thought the reason for the teaching was the national scholastic aptitude test. But according to analysis, the contents of the previous tests were hardly beyond the limit of Chemistry I course. For this research, the chemistry teachers looked for the purpose of Chemistry I course based on the 7th curriculum only at the superficial views, and the teacher's wrong understanding about the tests disturbed the revelation of the spirit of Chemistry I course of the 7th national curriculum.

An improvement plan of mathematics academic achievement in the H/W curriculum (하드웨어 전공자들의 수학 관련 교과목 학업성취도 제고 방안)

  • The purpose of this study is to increase the interest in mathematics-related curriculum and improve mathematics academic achievement of H/W majors. Firstly, this paper proposes the educational case study that develops the learner's ability, increases the interest and raises the employment rate in the unfavorable mathematics-related fields for the H/W majors. Secondly, this paper presents the future teaching method on mathematics-related curriculum that applies to the actually teaching-learning based on the computer programming in the field of the H/W. Lastly, this paper suggests the promising pedagogical method for mathematics by using the statistical analyses of academic achievements and surveys in order to present the effective conducting method of mathematics education.

  • FMC(FULL MOLD CASTING)법(法)이란 발포 polystyrene모형을 사용하여 조형후, 주형으로부터 모형을 발형치 않은채, 용탕을 주입하여 주물을 제조하는 방법을 말한다. 합성수지 발포체를 주조용(用) 모형의 재료로써 사용하는 방법은 1956년 미국의 슈로이어(H. F. Shroyer)에 의하여 발명되었으나 이것은 실제 주조에 응용하기에는 여러 곤란한 문제가 있어, 단순히 착상에 그치고 공업적으로 적용할 수 있는 기술을 확립치는 못하였다. 그후 서독 아헨대학교수로서 당시 발포폴리스티렌을 포함하는 각종단열재 제조회사 G+H 사(社)의 A. Wittmoser에 의하여 1962년에 처음으로 공업적으로 이용되어, 현재 서독, 미국, 일본등 유럽전역에서 응용되고 있다. 당사(當社)는 1977년6월 5일 첫 가동된 이후, 동(同)그룹 사(社)인 현대자동차로부터 자동차금형 (Press Die)주조를 FMC법(法)으로 생산하여 달라는 요구를 받고, 그해 12月부터 개발시험에 착수하여 이듬해 6월(月)부터 본(本) FM주조를 적용하여왔다. 그러나 1) 폴리스티렌 모형의 주입시(時) 부(不)기화 잔유물에 의한 주물표면결함 2) 도형제 박리 현상에 의한 표면결함 3) 주입시(時) 다량의 매연발생 및 4) 조형시(時) 모형의 변형에 의한 칫수결함 등의 문제가 대두되어 품질면에서는 1982년6월(月)에 와서야 어느정도 정상궤도에 도달하여 본격적인 FM 생산을 해오고 있는 중이다. 여기서 그동안 당사가 경험한 대형주물 (자동차금형:$1{\sim}10$톤/개)에 있어서의 FM 주조법의 적용사례를 본지(本誌)를 통하여 간단히 소개하고자 한다.

  • Currently, Reading instruction has a problem that it's separating subject matter and emphasizing only an activities after reading. This study designed a web-based reading instruction system in which teachers, students and teacher librarians can actively participate to help students to develop the integrated reading ability. Existing reading system have been analyzed to find requirement of web-based reading instruction system. Supposed reading instruction system composed of 6 menus, reading guidance ,reading level diagnosis, book selection, reading strategy, reading presentation, reading discussion.

  • This study is aimed at the improvement of the teaching mathematics via the use of the mathematical history based on the learning stages which are understanding the problem, seeking after and solving the problem, application and development, and understanding the homeworks. General questions of this study are as follows according to the purpose of this study: First, we develop materials to use the teaching and learning stages which are understanding the problem, seeking after and solving the problem, application and development, and understanding the homeworks. Second, we search the effective methods for using materials which are developed in this study. Third, we apply materials to the teaching and learning mathematics. To answer the problems, 1 class students of the 4th grade in Gwangju participated in this study. Teaching and learning which uses mathematical history based on the learning stages is performed. The following results were obtained in this research. First, the teaching and learning using materials which is related to mathematical history is effective in improvement of students' mathematical ability. Second, the teaching and learning using material which is related to mathematics history is effective in improvement of students' mathematical attitude. In special, mathematical attitude of students who are involved in learning using materials which is related to mathematical history is more positive than that of general students using traditional teaching methods. Lastly, generalization of newly developed materials should be done to get more development and upgrade.
